Re: Should Jeff Lacy call it a day?
Lacy should have listened to Birmingham's instructions and the night would have been less painful.
Re: Should Jeff Lacy call it a day?
He lost to one of the best boxers in the world today so no he shouldnt. Theres no shame in losing to the best!

Having said about the Tyson thing it wouldnt be a bad idea to see what Rooney could do with him, Birmingham sure as hell doesnt have a clue.
You cant argue that Birmingham is the reason for Winkys success because Winky has a very basic style, Vargas beat him, Vasquez battered him and I think Taylor is going to be too big for him
dont forget harry simon beat winky's ass

New Wind, the genius who started this topic, I guess its no wonder your cool-sad click ratio is 7 to 30. This post of yours makes no sense. Guy loses one fight, one!! And you have the audacity to post something this stupid?
I have no doubt you are a die hard Calzaghe fan, if not one of his relatives.

First, participating in a boxing forum is not a popularity contest for me, so I could not care less about my cool click ration.
Second, the headliner was a question. I did not express the opinion that Jeff Lacy should stop boxing, but Jeff might find it very hard to continue when he suddenly realises that he is just an average boxer in the super middleweight division and will not be able to reach his self proclaimed goals of cleaning out first smw and then middleweight and light heavyweight.
Yes, I like Calzaghe mostly because of his boxing skills but also because he stopped the lacymania

There was and is not reason to even bring up the question. It is not like Lacy had lost to a journeyman, he lost to the best SMW fighter out there. There is no reason to think retirement because of losing to Joe. The fight did bring out Lacy's flaws, but every fighter has flaws and it will be a matter of how well Lacy makes the adjustment from here on out. His style will still win Lacy fights and a title sometime in the next year.

Re: Should Jeff Lacy call it a day?
Marcus beyer maybe if he rushes him. He's not as quick as joe. Lacy V Kessler would be a great fight, all out war, i think mikael would win though.
Re: Should Jeff Lacy call it a day?
Beyer is ripe for the picking.
1st, Don't let Royal fool you, it's no coincidence that he's changed his name like 5 times. Somewhere in the deepest recesses of his little Danish heart it hurts his feelings that he's so unpopular.
2nd, Coyness only becomes hot chicks, so don't bother pretending there wasn't an obvious negative implication (get out your breakfast-pastry-to-English-dictionary,
big words abound) in your "headliner question".
Oh, and he likes Calzaghe because
A. He's white and Royal has expressed profoundly racist feelings
B. His god Kessler finally has a paper belt and Calzaghe has no interest in unifying
Re: Should Jeff Lacy call it a day?
Hey Royal,
Lacy's 12th pro fight was for a belt.
Kessler's 12th pro fight was against a guy who was 0-2.
Re: Should Jeff Lacy call it a day?
Hey Royal,
Lacy's 23rd pro fight was against Joe Calzaghe.
Kessler's 23rd pro fight was a 6 rounder against a guy who was 21-18-1.
Re: Should Jeff Lacy call it a day?
Hey Royal,
Kessler's 27th pro fight was against a guy who was 9-4-3.
He is currently 10-8-4.
Maybe he should "call it a day".

Are you drunk or are you just bitter that Jeff Lacy is just an average guy in SMW?
Re: Should Jeff Lacy call it a day?
Hey Royal,
Kessler won his paper belt (which was vacant) by beating
Dingaan Thobela. Thobela had lost his last 2 fights, why do you think he
was allowed to fight for the belt? Thobela had 9 losses at the time, and is
currently riding a 6 loss streak to run his total to 13. Geoff McCreesh KOd
him in 2 rds, how was he able to take Kessler the distance?
Maybe Dingaan Thobela should call it a day.
Re: Should Jeff Lacy call it a day?
Of course I'm drunk, what's your point? ;D

Oh, did I forget to mention that Lacy was KOed by Evans Ashira in the amateurs and schooled heavily by Brian Magee? O0
Re: Should Jeff Lacy call it a day?
amateurs=nothing
I could spout a nice list of great fighters losing to nobodies in ams, but it's beneath me.
Hey Royal,
Why did Kessler make his 20th fight against a guy who was 9-9?

WOW! I am glad you mentioned that because what happened in the amateurs means absolutely everything once you turn pro!!
Whooppe Freakin Doo!! :P The amateurs are different from the pro ranks. The styles are different.
