Well he showed good head movement against Picirillo. ;)Quote:

Masterpiece, if you believe in Mayorga's chances, go right ahead. But DLH made this fight cuz after being away for almost 2 yrs he needed to come back looking good to get interest up for a PBF fight. I'm telling you, DLH knew exactly what he was doing by choosing this guy as a comeback opponent.
I spit in the face of people who aren't cool.
If you are only going on that then you really shouldn't argue the point.Quote:

Oscar dont have to keep Mayorga off him with his jab. You do that when you dont move on your feet like Klitschko did last night. Oscar bounces around on his feet and is much faster than Forest. He'll be slapping the jab and moving out the way before Mayorga can answer. Watch the first half of Delahoya-Trinidad. Then you'll know what this fight will look like.
You just told my that's why it would be a mismatch.Quote:

Oscar doesn't have the stamina to box for 12 rounds...hasn't for years and he says he's going to fight with Mayorga.
Forrest's jab is better, DLH can't fight going backwards or box for 12 rounds<This fight will be a war and there is no way Oscar can stop Mayorga.
i cant get over that name now

I would like to thank all who, like me, have chosen to boycott this fight. At least now I know I am not crazy.
I agree with that. He wont stop Mayorga, youre right. Oscar has bad stamina. But like I said, he will jab this guy silly. Just watch Delahoya-Trinidad rds 1-7 and you'll see how this fight will go. . . . and if I'm wrong, I'll be the first one to post and admit it. But IMO, this will not be a very competitive fight.
This is the first argument you presented and then took back wehen I brought up Forrest's jab.Quote:

I'll be looking for your post in 2 weeks. ;D
Im absolutely not taking my argument back!! Oscar will pound this clown with his jab all night. Did I not say that? Problem with Forest was, did you notice the fear he fought with in their rematch? Oscar doesnt fight afraid. How do you figure I "took my point back"? Oscar's jab will easily win the fight.
Yeah I noticed that Forrest was fighting scared, yet he was still using his jab and moving and fighting a good fight, and he still lost.Quote:

Oscar fights somewhat afraid in every fight. He will never look at his opponent during a staredown. He recently said after 25+ years of boxing he's dfigured out being relaxed is the key to saving energy. He's said he's coming to fight a war and I believe he will try to because he knows he can't box and move against an aggressive Mayorga for 12 rounds. I don't think he realizes he can't stop Mayorga and Mayorga can stop him.
You took you point back because at first you said Oscar would beat him with the jab. I brought up a point and you decided he might need to manuever around and outpoint him using all ogf his tools. You even agreed he couldn't do this for 12 rounds, yet you still don't realize that even you think this fight will be competetive..your just looking for a reason to convince yourself otherwise.
Dude, if a fighter sticks and moves, thats good boxing. It doesnt mean he "HAS TO". Why would he stand toe to toe w/ Mayorga which is Mayorga's only shot at winning? And Oscar never does a staredown so it means he has fear? No!! He concentrates in his own way. It dont mean he's got fear. And he will slap Mayorga around for most of the fight like he did to Tito. I didnt realize you were taking that literally.
You think Oscar can stick and move for 12 rounds?Quote:

Forrest has a better jab for keeping someone like Mayorga off than Oscar does and Oscar can't fight going backwards either. Even if Oscar boxes the first few rounds, he will be drawn into a fight.
Do you have a clue what the word fear means? I'm not saying he has it to the point that he can barely move. As I said, Forrest fought a very good fight and he still lost.
The question that will be answered is how much heart does Oscar have left?
I believe both men will be coming in peak condition all things considered.
As I stated to another poster, Trinidad and Mayorga have very different styles.

Dude, this is entertaining. But I gotta get some dinner and prepare for my Sopranos and Grey's Anatomy. But we'll talk again.
And on May 7 you'll say "You were right MR. NIGHTMARE". And I will forgive you.

He won a "belt" at 154 after that beat down. He has right to talk, this isn't 160 and it took Tito rouns to get rid of him. Oscar wants to win he needs to go to the body early.
Is it true Mayorga only trained 28 days for Trinidad ???
If oscar cant ko that ko withing 6-7 he should retire for good
i'm pretty sure de la hoya isn't going to fight mayweather or winky at the moment. Other than a vargas or tito fight it would be interesting just to get them in the ring. De la hoya will break Mayora down in the later rounds but you never know how the fight will pan out. There is always a slim chance, that's why they fight the fights!
I'm not real excited about it either but I wouldn't criticize De La Hoya for fighting Mayorga. Both fighters seem to be taking the fight seriously, and a win for either man will make a big difference in how their careers look. If Oscar loses he will be regarded as a lesser fighter than Trinidad and probably will be through as a top pay per view draw, and Mayorga will gain a ton of respect as a man who can learn a tough lesson from an earlier loss (to Trinidad). If De La Hoya wins it will mean that he's still got it and can go on to fight another top junior middleweight or middleweight before calling it quits. If Mayorga loses he will be viewed as a man who was seriously flawed as a fighter but who could beat a top guy with the right style for him (Forrest).
you probably wanted to boycott Mosely v Vargas too?
This fight will be worth every cent! Mayorga always comes to fight. True he will get schooled but who doesnt enjoy watching a hall of famer put on a display against a puncher/brawler?
Mayorga could beat De La Hoya.
I agree...Mayorga's a clown...but this could be a good fight...Oscar has slipped just a bit & Mayorga for once seems determined to keep his title.Quote:

You may have a steroid induced amount of cool clicks, but your fight coverage is decent, and free!
If you dont want to watch it, dont watch it?
Its simple.
I will be watching the fight, its free for me, but even if it was £30 I would pay for it.
I am quite happy to shell out £30 to see one of the greatest boxers EVER school some idiot, who wants to make a name of Oscar Dela Hoya.
Cant blame him for the pay day, but his cheap talk is a disgrace.
Oscar by KO
Youre entitled to your opinion, as I am to mine. Oscar's a hall of famer, no doubt. His wars against Quartey, Mosley, Whitaker and Vargas are legendary. Thats why I'm not interested in him taking this tailor made fight.
But Mayorga is dangrous, and Oscar saying he will come for a fight, I feel will not be the truth, Oscar will wear him down, through the round and when he has taught him a boxing lesson, thats when Oscar will fight around 8-9, I cant see Mayorga living with him.
Another Vargas, choke on the big fights....
Your'e DAAAAAAAAAAAAAMMMMMMMMMMNNNNNNNNN RIGHT!!! I believe some of it is hype and nonsense, but Mayorga does have resentment for Oscar, I believe that. Just like he did for Lewis and Forrest. When asked something to the degree of "Why do you think this fight will be so easy for you, Lewis is pretty tough?" Mayorga just laughed and replied, "He doesn't know the meaning of tough." That is how he feels about Oscar. And to the jackass of this thread, Mayorga is a much more deserving and dangerous foe than Vargas at this stage of the game.Quote:

Oh and a Vargas vs Mayorga fight would be a slaughter at this point, Mayorga would steamroll over him.Quote:
