ROUND 1
Hatton comes out fast, leaping in with a left hook upstairs that's blocked by Pacquiao. The tanacious Hatton pushes Pacquiao back to the ropes. Head down, he bangs a 1-2 to the body. Pacquiao fires back a vicious four-punch combo that momentarily staggers Hatton. Another 1-2 lands for Pacquiao. Hatton holds on. The ref separates them. Nice left hand lands for Hatton, but Pacquiao fires back with a 1-2 upstairs. Hatton digs a right hand to the body and lands two hard left hooks upstairs. Pacquiao grins and bangs his gloves as if to say he was unfazed by the punches. Both men clinch. Pacquiao dances away on his toes and fires his jab. Hatton presses forward. Left hand lands for Pacquiao. Hatton misses with a left hook to the body. Pacquiao lands a 1-2. Hatton still stalking as Pacquiao circles the ring. They trade jabs. Left hook to the body lands for Hatton. Pacquiao lands a left. Another. Hatton looks unfazed and continues to press forward. Woooooo...quick four-punch combo lands for Pacquiao and Hatton is cut. There's a cut over the left eye of Hatton. Hatton bangs a left to the body and pushes Pacquiao back to the ropes. Blood is pouring all over the face of Hatton. Pacquiao in the corner and Hatton continues to work the body. Pacquiao fires back. Both men trading non-stop in the corner. Two vicious uppercuts land for Pacquio. Hatton answers with a 1-2 upstairs that snaps the head back of Pacquiao. Great round! Great round! I give it to Pacquiao.
Pacquiao 10 Hatton 9
ROUND 2
Hatton charges out and lands a left to the body. Pacquiao dances away and lands a quick 1-2. Hatton presses forward. Pacquiao lands a jab. Another. Straight left lead lands for Pacquiao. Hatton leaps in with a left hook to the body, but misses. Another 1-2 lands for Pacquiao. Hatton lands a right upstairs. Wooooo...another right from Hatton snaps the head back of Pacquiao again. Left to the body lands for Hatton. Pacquiao dances away. Quick three-punch combo lands for Pacquiao. Hatton lands a jab. Another. Pacquiao retreats to the ropes. Some roughhousing on the inside from Hatton. Hatton digs a 1-2 to the body against the ropes. Pacquiao lands a left hook upstairs. 1-2 lands for Pacquiao that opens the cut back up. More blood begins to flow down the face of Hatton. Hatton answers with a 1-2 of his own upstairs. Pacquiao holds on. Hatton lands a nice right upstairs. Some more roughhousing on the inside from Hatton. Pacquiao covers up. Hatton digs another 1-2 to the body. Pacquiao lands a three-punch combo, but eats a HARD right hand from Hatton that snaps his head back. Both men trade jabs. Pacquiao lands a lead straight left. Nice left and a right lands for Hatton against the ropes. Hatton mauls Pacquiao against the ropes as he mugs him with elbows. 1-2 to the body lands for Hatton. Pacquiao works his way out with a three-punch combo. Another good round. A close one, but I give it to Hatton.
Pacquiao 19 Hatton 19
ROUND 3
"Manny, keep the jab in his face. Keep moving and don't let him touch your body son," Freddie Roach could be heard telling Pacquiao in the corner. Pacquiao comes out dancing on his toes and lands a quick 1-2. Jab lands for Pacquiao. Hatton bulls forward and tries to maul him again with some elbows. Referee Kenny Bayless warns Hatton about the dirty tactics. Pacquiao circles around the ring and lands a lead straight left. Hatton jumps in with a left hook to the body, but misses as Pacquiao dances away. Hatton presses forward and backs Pacquiao up to the corner. Some more roughhousing by Pacquiao as he lands a 1-2 to the body. Pacquiao works his way out with a quick combo. Now there's a break in the action as Bayless wants the doctor to take a look at the cut. Thankfully, the action resumes. Hatton leaps in wildly and lands a left hook to the body. Pacquiao grins and bangs his gloves together again. Hatton bulls forward and lands a 1-2. Pacquiao fires back and lands a four-punch combo of his own. Lead straight left lands for Pacquiao. Hatton just eats it. Another lead straight left lands for Pacquiao. Hatton eats it again and presses forward. WOOOOOOOOOO...right hand, left hook and a BIG right uppercut lands for Pacquiao and Hatton is down. He's down! Hatton is flat on his back! Bayless picks up the count at 4, 5, 6....Hatton rolls over and tries to get up....8, 9....Hatton barely beats the count to make it to his feet, but he looks done. His legs are done! Bayless looks him over...THAT'S IT....IT'S OVER! Kenny Bayless calls a halt to the action. Pacquiao raises his hands to the crowd before kneeling in the corner to say a prayer. The crowd is going crazy!
Pacquiao TKO3
;D
The author here is a little lenient to hatton. That's too many body shot for hatton to land. I just don't see hatton being effective with the body shots. He'll be to open in the face if he try that.
I think Pac will dominate every rd. I agree with the cuts. I think it will be longer than 3. I stick with my original Rd 5 Prediction. I Predicted these way before Roach predicted rd 3. Pac will be generous to make this at least 5 rds of entertainment.

He closes the gap just like that, his footwork is so quick that on occasion because he can sometimes smother his own work. But if anyone thinks Hattons footwork is poor then they are misguided and headed for a big shock come fight night.
You are underestimating Hatton big time. Expect Hatton to jab his way in and then whilst Manny is dealing with that, to be closing the gap with speedy footwork and then unloading while in close. In this position Hatton will use his strength and not allow Pac to get into a rhythm. As soon as a meaningful blow lands, I can see Pac fighting on the back foot more, and this is where the fight might play into Hatton's advantage.
Forget about Hatton's jab. It will not reach Pac's face. Hatton's 20" arms are too short compare to Pac's 25" Arms. Pac will land 2 jabs on hatton's face before Hatton can even throw his jab in the AIR. Before hatton can Close the gap, I'm sure he will eat those Power left from Pac. The only oway hatton can score points if he gets Dirty & wrestle Pac. Hatton's in a wrong sport. He needs to switch to MMA after this fight.
That's the mistake in what you are saying. Tyson had a reach disadvantage over most of his opponents. But he was still able to employ a good, hard jab. It wasn't to maintain distance, it was to hit the opponents head and use that split second to get closer and fire off combinations. Hatton will be doing just that in this fight. In close Hatton can wrestle, but he needs to work his way in close without leaving himself open. A sharp jab will be the key. Using movement Hatton can neutralise the reach disadvantage.
I really see the jab playing a significant part in this. It's nothing groundbreaking, just a move back to the basics.
You are wrong again in your analysis. Tyson was the shorter & the lesser reach than most of his opponent but he's way quicker & harder puncher than his opponents.
Pac has all the advantage of speed, Reach, Power, Chin, head movement etc. Hatton has only his Natural size only as his advantage But Pac demostrated already that size doesn't matter coz he has his amazing speed & Power.
Forget about hatton's Jab. It will not reach Pac.

Pac might have the slight reach advantage but Hatton is good with his jab.It isnt all about reach its about timeing your shots and Hatton is good at timing his jab to land.
A few people are saying Pac has more experience they have both been in big fights but Pac has never fought at 140,ok he fought at 147 against a weight drawn ODLH that didnt throw back.He is fighting at 140 for the first time against the best in the division. So i would have Hatton the more experienced fighter because he has campained at 140 for most of his career.

Pac is just perfect, point blank. The word flaw/weakness does not exist in his dictionary, eh?
I find something positive about hardcore Pac fans. It makes the fight more exciting. I know for sure I will be on my feet the whole time.
Imagine how many threads we will see in this forum if Pac wins and how a new religion will come out to worship Pac.

Many considered Hatton as the man at 140 but remember PAC was the former man at 112, 126 and 130 divisions... Even this early some boxing rankings organizations already installed PAC as the man at 140!!
Which one would you prefer, a boxer who fights most of the time in one division only or a boxer who ruled several (3 or more) weight divisions? I think the later is the more versatile and skilled boxer...

PAC boxing in orthodox stance starting at 1:33 in the video... Better for Hatton to manufacture an injury right now... ;D j/k It's so scary being the receiving end of those powerful, heavyweight like punches from PAC... ;D

Lol! ;D He's using Moorer like some piece of towel.
Looks like Pac mixing it up lil' bit there. Switching to conventional stance. It's obviously just a propaganda vid. Playing mind games with Hatton camp. No way he'll switch stance eventhough he's an ambi.
He accidently hit Roach too in the face. My my, Pac is really that eager. ;D

I disagree. Hatton might be slightly slower than Manny but he hits harder and with the right combination of footwork and bodymovement his jabs will make an impact.
I've a feeling you are going to be dissapointed that Pac will not win as concisively as you think. I dread to think what you will do when Pac actually gets stopped in 8. ;D

Ricky Hatton Roundtable

Re: Do you think PAC will inflict the worst beating ever on Hatton?
Ariza: Pacman to put foe away in 3 rounds
At the start of training camp, Manny Pacquiao’s conditioning expert Alex Ariza said that while the Filipino champ was in great shape, he didn’t agree with trainer Freddie Roach’s prediction that the fight against Ricky Hatton would end in three rounds.
But yesterday, Ariza changed his mind.
Ariza said: “I’ll be honest with you. In the past, I had my reservations about the whole third-round knockout thing, but after what I saw today, I don’t doubt it now. It won’t surprise me at all. In fact, it will surprise me if it went past that [three rounds].”
Ariza said Pacquiao sparred 12 rounds Thursday in Los Angeles (Friday in Manila) and looked great.
He said Pacquiao was in great shape over 12 rounds of sparring. He started off by doing five rounds with undefeated lightweight Urbano Antillon (25-0, 14 KOs), then went four rounds with Raymond Serrano and finally three rounds with lightweight David Rodela (12-1, 6 KOs).
“The three sparring partners went non-stop and should be given a lot of credit for pushing Manny. That’s such a big reason why he’s in such great shape. They came in 100 percent and put in their best performance. Everybody looked good and Manny looked awesome.”
;D

Re: Do you think PAC will inflict the worst beating ever on Hatton?
It's nonsense talk.
If Pac brings it to Hatton early then Pac is taking on Hatton where Hatton is most dangerous. Pac will get brought to his knees.
This pre fight build up is curious. I was watching the Pac: DLH fight earlier and was laughing at parts of it. DLH was really beyond bad, and it wasn't because Pac is that good at all. David Diaz and then Ricky Hatton...that's what it is really about and it's a giant hurdle too far IMO.

The whole fight was pretty much all about speed, and Pac having the advantage of being a southpaw. We're gonna see the same thing again against Hatton.

im not a boxing analyst and i wont say i know all bout boxing but in my opinion pacquiao will win. you have to remember the issue before this fight when hatton's camp was giving him a deadline. and manny was pissed off. i think manny will want to prove something to him lol..IMHO.
and ofcourse im a pacman fan id think lesser of filipinos if we didnt support our own.

That was a decent episode, but too much of Roach and Mayweather IMO and not quite enough of the fighters.
That sparring partner seemed a little bit gay laying there for the cameras. I like the way we are seeing nothing of Hattons sparring besides still photographs. Working hard and keeping it all under wraps.

I think Hatton also had every right to be annoyed with the negotiations. It was long drawn out and Hatton even had to tell Manny to find his bic in order to try and get things signed.
Hatton fans do listen to Pac fans, I listen to what the other side is saying very carefully as do many others. I actually get the feeling that it's the Pac fans who are unable to step outside the box and listen carefully.

ya but my point is that there are also hatton fans who dont listen maybe not u. if u say so. but its the same for both. so its unfair to say filipinos dont know true boxing and just follow pacman. the truth is there are alot of boxers in the Philippines who havent been given the chance not just pacman. We respect him alot because hes helping other boxers get noticed. and hes an inspiration to the whole country.

That was a bit harsh on my part. Of course, there are a lot of Hatton fanboys who are much the same. But I think a lot of those supporting Manny are simply Manny fans, they don't know too much about boxing. Anybody who knows boxing knows that this is a great matchup and it's great because it really could go either way according to whoever gets it right on the night. I think more Hatton fans are showing an awareness of this fact than Pac fans who are hanging off the words of Roach thinking that this is a cakewalk. It's no cakewalk, it's a top draw war. And I can't wait! :D

;D
That was a decent episode, but too much of Roach and Mayweather IMO and not quite enough of the fighters.
That sparring partner seemed a little bit gay laying there for the cameras. I like the way we are seeing nothing of Hattons sparring besides still photographs. Working hard and keeping it all under wraps.
Well I think this one is the trainers' episode, next week's episode you won't see anymore the faces of Freddie and Joy... ;D
We knew Hatton is working hard in training as evident by those blackeyes (both eyes) he got from sparring 5 different southpaw boxers... Most probably it's Lara or Cornelius Lock who inflicted those blackeyes... Think of this, if Hatton got blackeyes in sparring, IMO he will get multiple cuts on his face on fight night and will be eventually knocked out...

Its the way Hatton fights he will always get hit but thats his style and it's worked everytime apart from once.

That's why I'm worried on PAC inflicting the worst beating ever on Hatton... Hatton gets hit a lot and PAC throws punches in bunches... But Hatton is one tough guy and won't go down easily so he will continue to receive hits after hits... His face will be cluttered with multiple cuts and all sorts of welts before he will eventually kiss the canvass...

link --> Hatton not afraid to reinvent himself
Ricky Hatton has a plan. Doesn't everyone?
He believes. Doesn't everyone?
He trusts that come the evening of May 2 at the MGM Grand Garden, he will beat the world's best pound-for-pound fighter in Manny Pacquiao.
Doesn't everyone?
Well, no.
Does anyone?
Pacquiao is a strong favorite in the 140-pound junior welterweight title fight, and you would be pressed to find any viewpoint outside those members of the Hatton camp and streets of Manchester, England, who don't agree that thousands of disappointed Brits will be strolling the Strip a few weeks from now.
The local economy still should earn a boost at all drinking establishments that night. There just won't be many smiles with all those pints of Guinness.
"There is nothing to worry about," Hatton's trainer said. "The only thing I'm worried about is if there will be an ambulance to take (Pacquiao's) ass to the hospital.
"He's a southpaw. We're going to be the northpaw. We are going to beat him. We are the northpaw. He's the southpaw. Do you understand what I'm saying?"
No one does.
They are the always amusing and rambling thoughts of Floyd Mayweather Sr., the man Hatton turned to when his career seemed at that point of either advancing to more memorable heights or crashing like the 5-year-old from sugar overload.
This is why Hatton can win May 2. He is unlike most fighters. He admits weakness. He is not stubborn enough to think 45-1 with 36 knockouts can't be improved.
He was roughed up and knocked out by Mayweather's son in December 2007, followed that by looking pedestrian in winning a 12-round unanimous decision against Juan Lazcano and promptly fired longtime trainer Billy Graham.
Fighters boot trainers all the time. But in showing Graham the door, Hatton parted ways with his mentor, his close friend, the man he partnered with to form one of the most successful duos in British boxing history. Hatton is 30 and worked with Graham since age 18.
This was as personal as you get in this business.
"I needed to get beat by Floyd Jr. to know what I had to do," Hatton said. "If I had kept getting away with it, getting away with it, getting away with it, I would have stayed with my friend.
"Nobody can take away what Billy and I did together, but for years he showed signs of slowing down. Consequently, it slowed me down and showed in my performances. Not his fault. Father Time. It will happen to all of us. Billy was having needles in his hands for his pain and saying, 'You're punching hard, Rick.' I'd think, 'You can't feel your hands, Billy.'
"As hard as it was, it was the right decision to part with Billy."
He wanted and needed to become a more technical fighter. A better defensive one. Someone who would not sprint from his corner on a straight line with a head that didn't move and feet that seemed stuck in concrete and merely brawl his way to wins. He hired Mayweather Sr. with the hopes of changing it all.
The partnership was alive for just seven weeks when Hatton in November punished Paulie Malignaggi to the point his corner threw in the towel 28 seconds into the 11th round. This is what gives Hatton and his brazen trainer such confidence about the Pacquiao fight, that the passing months have created an even quicker and smarter version of Hatton.
They see a Pacquiao who while extraordinarily fast and powerful, counts his greatest win against an aging Oscar De La Hoya who many believed had one foot in the ring that evening in December and the other in retirement. They are convinced that if Hatton gets into trouble early, he won't revert back into his old, statuesque self. That he will choose, even when prodded, to be a boxer over a brawler.
They have a plan.
They believe.
"Ricky is still learning," Mayweather said. "Nobody is going to erase everything from before in one day or two fights. But he's coming along. He could win this fight without me. I feel that good about it.
"Manny has a good left jab, but when I see the way he throws punches, I see an amateur. When you beat De La Hoya with that, it means De La Hoya quit, forget, end of story.
"Ricky is going to beat his ass. I'm not looking for a beat down. I'm looking for a stop down."
I can't see it. Can't see Hatton successfully controlling Pacquiao's quickness and skill. Can't see anything but what the odds suggest. Can't envision anything but thousands of Brits boosting our economy by drowning their sorrows.
But the chance is there for Hatton because he showed the wisdom to embrace change and not look back. Because after losing for the first time as a professional following 43 wins, he wasn't afraid to reinvent himself.
Just like any good northpaw.
