;D
That was a decent episode, but too much of Roach and Mayweather IMO and not quite enough of the fighters.
That sparring partner seemed a little bit gay laying there for the cameras. I like the way we are seeing nothing of Hattons sparring besides still photographs. Working hard and keeping it all under wraps.
Well I think this one is the trainers' episode, next week's episode you won't see anymore the faces of Freddie and Joy... ;D
We knew Hatton is working hard in training as evident by those blackeyes (both eyes) he got from sparring 5 different southpaw boxers... Most probably it's Lara or Cornelius Lock who inflicted those blackeyes... Think of this, if Hatton got blackeyes in sparring, IMO he will get multiple cuts on his face on fight night and will be eventually knocked out...
.
Fighters will always start sparring a little rusty and getting tagged is part of the game. Hatton doesn't seem to be marked up so much now and according to his diary the sparring has been going very well. I would imagine that he has picked things up and is doing what needs to be done.
Pac took an age to get Diaz out of there and Oscar simply pulled a "No mas". No sitting ducks to shoot at here. Look at Paulies face after the Hatton fight, he wasn't so pretty. Neither was Kostya. Maussa and Castillo got beat down. Maybe Pac should be worrying about the damage he is going to accumulate. He has never taken a really big shot above 130 IMO, more likely he will be getting stopped. But you never know. ;)

Did you read the article above (Hatton not afraid to reinvent himself) ?? It gives a glimmer of hope for Hattonites on the basis that Hatton reinvented himself and become a more technical boxer... I'm one of those who always give a boxer a slim chance to win even how overwhelming the odds will be... But expecting Hatton to outbox PAC?? I just can't see it... Even the one of the best technical counterpuncher boxer out there can't defeat PAC...
Hatton might try new tricks but as soon as he will get hit, he will revert back to being a brawler... That's good since I think Hatton has more chances in this brawling, bulldozing, grappling style than being technical... but PAC speed and quickness will still eventually kill Hatton whatever style he will employ...

Re: Do you think PAC will inflict the worst beating ever on Hatton?
Marquez has a totally different style to Hatton, so I can't see Hatton becoming that kind of back foot, counter puncher. I don't expect anything "new" from Hatton as such, but I am expecting the basics to have been cranked back up. He will pressure Manny hard, but have all the fundamentals working. Jab, movement, combinations. Hatton isn't going to win by outboxing Pac, he will win by making things too hot to handle and by putting the hurt on. Manny is quick but he is VERY hittable, when hurt Manny might try to fight fire with fire, but Hatton will have imposed his will if that happens, and Manny will get beaten up. You can't run from Hatton unless you are Mayweather, and you can't stay close because Hatton will rough you up. Manny cannot pretend that Hatton is Diaz or Oscar. Hatton is no slouch, he will catch Manny a lot and hit him like never before.
Pac is going to get the beating of his life IMO, not the other way round.

Hatton can't win by outboxing PAC, we all agree on this one...;)
As of late, PAC came out from fights totally unmarked unlike Hatton where Lazcano and Paulie were able to mark his face... JMM, Barrera and Morales did land some good ones on PAC but it didn't really resulted to major trouble and PAC was able to retaliate throwing his one bombs...
PAC loves fighting toe-to-toe, he has the advantage in this situation since he possess the quicker hands...
Hatton is just like a little faster and little bigger David Diaz... and Hatton will receive a similar beating that David received from PAC...

that's how i see it too. hatton, a bigger and faster diaz. ricky will have his chances in the early rounds, he has to get his licks in early otherwise he'll suffer a similar beating.

I don't think he is at all.
Hatton is significantly better than Diaz in all areas. Diaz is totally one dimensional and can only fight one way, and even that is extremely limited. To describe Hatton in that way makes me think you are misreading this fight big time. And once again disregarding the qualities that Hatton has. The fight will not be like Diaz: Pac, you are going to be sorely dissapointed if that's what you think you are getting. :)
And I would be very happy if Roach and co. are simply preparing themselves for a bigger version of Diaz because it is most definitely NOT what they are going to be facing come May 2nd.

Rumour coming for Pac's camp is that he can't move around the ring due the enormous amount of swelling around his Gonads from the excesive amount of nuthugging he has recieved :lickish:
On a serious note, can anyone tell me what time the fight is shedule for UK time, I need to work out where and when I can go an see it.Given that Australia is so far ahead does that mean the fight will be over before it's started:confused:

"Arum believes his man is better in all departments than he was six months ago when he beat De La Hoya.
"He is faster, he’s smarter and he has all of the attributes,” Arum said.
“What’s Manny’s strength? Its his speed. So if he fights the fight capitalizing on his strength which is his speed there is no way Hatton can beat him."
Arum claims that Top Rank matchmaker Bruce Trampler told him that he is handling sparring partners Urbano Antillon, Mike Alvarado and Raymund Serrano (no mention of Amir Khan) "like babies."
Arum went on: “You now can't see his hands, he is so fast.
"He throws them so quickly you can’t see the punches"

Ok it should be on sometime between 1 & 3 in the afternoon your time on May 3. Not sure exactly what time they will come out for their fight, but it will definitely be around that time I think.

It would be a sad situation if Pac wasn't able to handle himself against these monsters.
Pac's camp is talk, talk, talk. Arum is a promoter, anything he says should be taken with a pinch of salt too.
Hattons camp, quiet and determined. That's how a camp should be.

It's so sad Hatton can't handle these southpaw boxers in sparring... These sparring partners gave Hatton blackeyes... not one blackeye but blackeyes (both eyes)...
We all knew PAC has an intense and determined training camp... but you know news leaked out...
Hatton might be trembling right now... He might be even thinking of faking an injury... j/k ;D

Hatton speaking from his diary entries over on the Hatton forum:
April 13th: "Sparring again, with Marvin, Cornelious and a new kid, Daniel Mitchell. The rounds are increasing now and I am happy with the pace. My weight is spot on and my fitness is great".
April 15th: "More sparring and I have to say, I was very pleased with today's workout. I really feel that everything is coming together at the right time."
He might have had a couple of bruises when he opened his sparring, but according to Hatton he is getting into the swing of things and competing well. No disrespectful rubbish about knocking down sparring partners or making them look like babies! One camp is full of hype and willing to perform for cameras, the other just does the hard work.
Nothing "leaks" form Pacs camp, it all comes out with a firm agenda. And it's feeble, it really is. Roach's usual pre fight gift of a t shirt and some vitamin pills for weight loss. Sorry, but it reeks of desperation and clearly hasn't had any impact. Hatton is bang on the weight and is looking fantastic, perhaps Roach should have found something more relevant to bring up.
Do you really think Hatton is trembling at the thought of having to fight little pocket rocket, Manny Pac? He took on Tszyu, Castillo and Mayweather and he's trembling at the prospect of taking on Manny pac? Don't make me laugh. Pac is cashing out with the weight attacks and going for big names. He got lucky with Oscar, lightning isn't going to strike twice! ;D

I've read that diary entry 3 days back I think... ;)
Hatton getting surprised and bruised the first time he sparred with these southpaw sparring partners... Hatton will be surprised and bruised again when he will face PAC inside that ring but what worse during fight night, the beatings happens so fast and Hatton has no more time to adjust... Like many PAC opponents, Hatton will eventually be KO'ed...
Good that you had a laugh on my "trembling" joke... ;)
Seriously...
-Tszyu was already a 36 year old grandpa when Hatton faced him...
-Castillo was already a shot fighter...
-PBF Jr.? haha ;D no one is afraid of PBF Jr. (it's usually the other way around ;D )... PBF just usually potshots opponents going for a comfortable UD win... I was really surprised when the light hitting PBF was able to slammed Hatton to the ringpost and KO'ed him...

Re: Do you think PAC will inflict the worst beating ever on Hatton?
It's all getting very lively now that we only have a couple of weeks to go! ;D
You can say that Kostya and Castillo were old, which is true. But let's not forget that Manny's biggest wins have come against older fighters who have been reaching the end too. Oscar and Morales were no spring chickens and had been in a lot of fights too. Oscar was a dead man at the weight. Hatton has been doing this for a long time against big fighters and walked through everything at 140. Pac has been in lower divisions and met his match in Morales and Marquez. If I recall correctly, Morales like Oscar, killed himself to make weight for that final fight. Shot and famished too. :-\
The very fact that you are making a mockery of Mayweather, the most skilled fighter of our generation shows you up too. I can't stand Mayweather, but you have to admire what he can do, just from the boxing fan viewpoint.
Pac might have some fast hands and an awkward stance, but can Pac hit and move against Hatton for 12 without getting caught and roughed up? Of course he can't. Pac is not a big man, and he isn't a defensive wizard. Once the first big one lands, Pac will be having second thoughts and doing an awful lot of that making the sign of the cross business between rounds. Pac doesn't belong in this weight class and it's time for the delusion to stop. Pac is great at what he does, but he's out of his league with this one. There's no shame in losing though, as he will put up a valiant fight.
-
Re: Do you think PAC will inflict the worst beating ever on Hatton?
I have said it a few times , Pac is great at what he does and what he is good at which is coming forward. However as Miles points out he is no defensive genius, whenever he is on the back foot he just doesn't look that special. there's no real power and he just waits for the assualt to end, big question is can he work off the back foot with someone like Hatton pressing him constantly.

Exactly, who has Pac fought that had the ability to push him back? Morales showed glimpses of how to do it. Opponents like Marquez and Barrera like to fight going back, which plays to Manny's strengths somewhat (though Marquez made him look a bit silly on occasions). It all worked against Oscar who was throwing nothing back and how could it not work against Diaz!;D
Hatton has a style that Manny really hasn't faced before, despite Saddoboxers ludicrous David Diaz comparisons!;D Hatton has great footwork and gets close quickly, so he can do what he does best. No opponent has been able to get away from Hatton faster than he comes to them. Even Floyd found himself in a wrestling match and seemed to be initiating a lot of the holding after potshotting. All of Hattons opponents get shocked by his fleetness of foot and how physically he fights. And here is this little man about to tame Hatton! Come on now, Pac can be cut, he can be hurt to the body, and even an old Barrera had him reeling from an illegal blow. Think what Hatton will do to him, and he will be coming forward and closing the ring off and throwing hard punches which will take their toll.

Tszyu and Castillo were older than Morales and Hoya...;)
PBF is a very good boxer, a very skilled one but he's not the type that terrorizing his opponents... PBF is happy to potshot his opponents to a UD win that makes his fights somewhat boring...
PAC been in different weight classes from 106 to 147 lbs... So far he didn't look being undersized (aside from Hoya) in any of those weight classes... PAC just fit in right... The same thing will be my expectation at 140, Hatton doesn't have a massive size advantage over PAC as what many Hattonites were banking on... Hatton bullying PAC is a situation you can't really rely on in this fight...

Hatton has bullied everyone at 140, it's where he has always been comfortable. Pac hasn't even fought there yet, we know what Hatton is like at 140, we don't have any idea how Pac will fare at this weight. If you want to base things on Diaz and Oscar then that's your call, but Diaz is a mediocre smaller man and the Oscar fight was just plain odd. And I know I keep on bringing it up but Marquez did a number on Manny at a far smaller weight not too long ago. But I know you don't like talking about that because you know deep down Marquez won. :p If Marquez can stop Manny in his tracks, you have to wonder if Manny has lost his marbles taking this fight because Hatton pressures much harder and hits a lot harder. You seem to be saying that Manny's speed will carry him through, but if Hatton has his timing down to a tee you can bet your bottom dollar Manny will taste the canvas at least once.
Hatton bullying PAC is a situation you can't really rely on in this fight...
.
Balance has never been Manny's strongest quality has it now? ;D
PAC was not knockdown for how many years now and Hatton been knockout cold just 3 fights ago by a boxer not really known as a puncher... Go figure...;)
PAC being criticized for being out of balance sometimes in a fight, this resulted when PAC firing from odd angles to land his bombs on the enemy... This out of balance thing give more advantages to PAC than being a disadvantage... In this fight, I still expect PAC to have more movement, more angles, turning Hatton alot ('til Hatton gets dizzy :p ), firing whizzing, slashing punches... Hatton in dire straits...
then goodnight Richard...

Re: Do you think PAC will inflict the worst beating ever on Hatton?
Hatton was knocked out by a fighter who was attuned to 147. Pac is only recently up from fighting at 130 pounds. There is a big disparity there. It went wrong for Hatton one time only, let's not forget that.
We are seeing completely different fights. You seem to have an idealised vision of how this is going to turn out. I struggle to see either man being unmarked by this, you say Pac will have more of everything, but have you not thought that Hatton firing back as hard as he does is going to make Pac become more cautious? I don't recall Manny being such a dazzler against Marquez. Barrera fought a very gunshy Manny last time out. And here is Manny all razzle, dazzle and shine, going to be popping Hatton from all angles!!?? I'm just not seeing it like that.
Not to say that I'm right, because it's boxing. But we will see.

Yeah, we will see...
But can anyone of you Hattonites tell Hatton that beating PAC, the current best boxer P4P, won't make him instantly as the new P4P no. 1 ?? I don't think Hatton is this dumb?? ;D Please mates, do me some favor... ;D

Re: Do you think PAC will inflict the worst beating ever on Hatton?
Hatton's footwork is very fast for a light welter, I cant see Manny keeping away for more than a couple of rounds before Rick starts to unload on him with some regularity, Manny won't clinch, use elbows or duck below the waist to avoid Hattons on slaught and that will be his downfall, he will try and trade like the warrior he is and unfortunately will find out that he is not fighting a 130lb guy who he can blow away with ease, he will be fighting a monster @ 140 who has prepared as if his life depends on it, who is faster, fitter and better schooled than he has ever been. Roll on may2nd when the truth will be revealed in stunning fashion.

Yeah, I cringe when I hear that. Personally, I think he needs to beat Manny and then one more quality opponent to get that honour. He should stop saying it because he says it all the time now. :-\;D

Totally agree. Manny has never been one to clinch, and I can't see him evading Hatton for 12 rounds going on the back foot. Hattons footwork is really good and I cannot believe Roach would say that it's slow. It's one of Hattons big strengths really. Hatton will get close no doubt, and then we will see if Pac can bang with Hatton. He certainly won't punch as effectively being pushed back.
We haven't seen Hatton look as determined in a long time, and he has got his camp worked out to a tee now. Seems to be in a really good place mentally, certainly none of the pre Mayweather stuff going on.

Yes, he did. I think that's what he truly thinks too. He knows beating Manny won't take him to number 1. He just keeps talking about the "P4P belt" for the sake of interviews and hype. But he has said it quite a lot. ;D

This is the same guy that said he can be sure of nothing in Boxing. Yet you make out that Ricky Hatton (Who has never lost at 140 pounds) will get blown out with ease. WTF ?

“FAILURE IS THE ONLY OPTION FOR THE MANCUNIAN CANDIDATE!” - World-Famous Freddie Roach
http://www.15rounds.com/wp-content/u...ge-150x150.jpg
HOLLYWOOD, CALIF. (April 20, 2009) – With just seven day left before the beginning of Fight Week, three-time BWAA Trainer of the Year World-Famous Freddie Roach is extremely confident that boxing’s No. 1 attraction and pound for pound fighter MANNY “Pac Man” PACQUIAO will exit the ring at the MGM Grand Garden on May 2 with a victory over RICKY “Hitman” HATTON and a record-tying sixth world title in as many weight divisions.
“Ricky Hatton is like the Manchurian Candidate, but since he is from Manchester, England I’ll call him the Mancunian Candidate,” said Roach after watching Pacquiao go through another marathon training session at the Wild Card Boxing Club in Hollywood, Calif.
“I know Floyd is trying to deprogram Ricky from being a one-dimensional puncher, but it’s too late to try and brainwash a fighter who has close to 50 fights during a 12-year professional career. The fact is Floyd couldn’t program a VCR much less a fighter with so many bad habits ingrained into him.
“Hitman” is an accurate ring name for Hatton because on May 2, Hatton is going to get hit, man, and a lot! I told Manny I would be disappointed if the fight lasts longer than three rounds.”
"Hitman" will turn to "Sh!tman"....;)
