Re: Just another Wacko's Drunken Round by Rounds: Taylor Spinks/Miranda Pavlik
During the Taylor match tonight Merchant & Lampley were quoting statements from Lou Diebella regarding the fact that he offered Sturm, Mora, Abraham, Pavlik, Wright, & Mirada a boatload of cash each to fight Taylor & that they all turned it down...this really pisses me off. Why?
Due to the fact that he's trying to portray Taylor as this nigh invulnerable fighter that everyone dodges.
No one wanted to take the gotdam fight because it was in Taylor's backyard & you'd have to get a fwockin knockout to get the win.
Fighters aren't stupid, especially ones that are either undefeated or high profile, when it comes to their records or their belts.
I wouldn't have taken the fight either...not unless it was on nuetral ground.

I bet Mora is kicking himself. Honestly if Spinks could hang with him tonight I'd have tipped Mora to decisively outbox him. At least he throws punches nonstop and would probably be too quick for Jermain.

Nah but they are grossing more buys per year in total than boxing.
Last year they grossed more than boxing had EVER grossed in one year, and they are growing fast.
Even allowing for De La Hoya Mayweather they will still easily surpass boxing for PPV buys this year as well.
I'm not saying this to big them up, I hate it that boxing is in such a slump but every week there is a bad decision either by a judge or referee. Plus the big fights rarely get made and even when given an easy opponent the best boxers seemingly can only stumble past them. :-\
Thats because you guys pay attention to 154 and up. Bullshyte weights.
Marquez and Barrera just had the greatest fight this year. Boxing is still bad@ss, it's just everybody else pays attention to those bullshyte weights.

Totally disagree there...many fans on this site are hung up on the lighter weights.
Also...154 to 168 has had some of the more exciting fights of the last 4 or 5 years.

Boxing lives and dies based on the bigger weights. The average sportsfan cares not whether one little 9 stone weakling can pound another little 9 stone weakling.
It's like saying in English soccer that the premier and championship leagues are crap and that all the real action is in League 2 ::**
Re: Just another Wacko's Drunken Round by Rounds: Taylor Spinks/Miranda Pavlik
All he has to do is fight the #1, which is Pavlik.........

Re: Just another Wacko's Drunken Round by Rounds: Taylor Spinks/Miranda Pavlik
Jermain Taylor reminds me of Lennox Lewis in the middle years. Looked like a can't miss coming up, then got stale and seemed to move backwards. Hopefully he can have a Lennox like bounce back.

Yep. Not like a landslider or anything...but I just don't think that Taylor did enough to pull that one outta the pan.

No I'm talking about Lewis before McCall sparked him. I have a quote from Manny Steward on it, let me find it real quick.
