Didn't Mark Ruffalo talking out of the side of his mouth take you out of the story a bit? It did for me. Good movie though, the story was good. It is very sad that those things happened and are continuing to happen, Catholic Church never fails to disappoint.
I think the film was made well, i had put off for a good while because of the content of the film. Its unbelievable that it happened and continues to happen top this day! the cover up is just horrendous
Did you by chance ever check out 'The Keepers'? It's similar stuff....horrible that the Catholic Church was caught (yet again) in Pennsylvania where there were THOUSANDS of victims. Horrible.

He thought for a second it was 'live' and started trying to ff commercials :-\;D. Just for a second and laughed it off. Came home with Hill street Blues and Rawhide ffs. One of those trips.

I remember hearing great things on that one but still need to check it out.
He and mom had a big routine recording and watching current stuff. Last one I know they followed was The last Ship. Unfortunately he stopped editing and recording after she passed away. So use to walking in their house and seeing him with high liters lined up, guides and multi screens taping stuff up until recently. It was like his 'job' after retirement and kept him sharp. He can't keep focus now but love some classics if we're lucky. Bud, my bad, way too much info for 1 question ;D.

My old man has been battling dementia/ Alzheimer for the last couple of years. That sh-t is hard. The man who molded me, is no longer there. He looks and sounds like my dad, but he's not, if that makes sense. He has good days and bad, some times he recognizes me, others he doesn't. I wish sometimes I could just have an hour with my (real) dad, to have a drink and shoot the sh-t.
If your dad is still pretty lucent, make some videos with him now while you can, get some film of him, you'll miss that sh-t when it's gone.

Thanks man, we get dark at times because well it is dark. But you gotta go through it. I feel you on the roller coaster of good and bad days and absolutely spot on about cherishing moments we might have still. Seeing my old man with that lost stare now compared to the rock who brought us up..flat rips you up dude. But we carry on. They're in there.

Watched Antwone Fisher which is a story of a navy officer sent to a psychiatrist, played by Denzel Washington, for help. True story about coming to terms with your past.

Watched 'Albert Nobbs' a couple of weeks ago on the telly when my Mrs auntie was down visiting. Brilliant performance by Glenn Close supported by a great cast ( Mark Williams and Brendan Gleeson were as solid as ever, Williams flinching was top notch and Jane Mcteer was a revelation as Hubert, like a giantised Male version of K.D.Lange). Garcia's direction is brilliant in revealing how not just Albert but all of us spend our lives disguised as ourselves. It's subtle and nuanced and Close's Albert is as masterfully and heart breakingly underplayed as Hopkins Butler in Remains of the Day. You don't get much higher bars.
It's not a superhero 'movie' but it is well worth checking it out. Gender bender or not.

Hell on Frisco Bay (1955) 8/10
A very good film-noir, I recommend it. Unlike most old crime movies, it's in color. Excellent cast, with Joanne Dru and Alan Ladd. No one has ever played a criminal boss more convincingly than Edward G. Robinson.

Walker (1987) 2/10
Worst movie I've seen in a long time. Starts out looking like it might be decent, I like Ed Harris. But gets more and more ridiculously bad as it goes on. I didn't know this before I watched it: director Alex Cox was never employed again by a major Hollywood studio. It cost $6,000,000 US to make, but the box office revenue was only $257,043 US.

While I do realize Winston Churchill was not a perfect man and he made some serious mistakes in his life, this movie is unfair in it's portrayal of him as an obnoxious alcoholic and a selfish old buffoon who is living in the past.
The movie does have some positive aspects, such as the superb work by the cinematographer David Higgs, and some stellar performances by Miranda Richardson, John Slattery, James Purefoy and Julian Wadham.
However it is not historically accurate, since Churchill was not stubbornly opposed to the Normandy landing. And there were several other inaccuracies, for example King George's stammer was not nearly as bad as shown in the movie.
There really isn't much of a story in this one, except for the historical background of the Normandy invasion.

Not a movie but that series dark mirror on Netflix is pretty darn good. It’s a bit like a mordern twilight zone thing. I watched one episode a few months ago and didn’t really get into it but I’ve been hearing a lot of people I know speaking highly of it so I gave it another go and found it to be thumbs up. It seems Netflix is producing some better projects but the original movies are hit and miss to me
