The Entity is the only film that troubled me,mind you i was living in a old house all alone when i watched it.Truly a really creepy film. The acting is pretty good throughout. The effects of the Enity are crazy, looks real as hell.Im willing to brave it out and watch it again as i now live back with me fathers house soo i can hold his hand if i get freaked out again which no doubt i will.
Yeah Drag me to hell is a good laugh is'nt it!I remember taking a lady friend to cinema to watch that and i could'nt stop laughing.I jumped a bit but me lady friend was covering her eyes with her hands, lol.Mind you i freaked out when i came out of the cinema after the film and noticed i had a flat tire on me car and it was about 11pm and pouring down with rain, plus i was on me first date too:rolleyes:.Me girlfriend had to stand there in the rain while i changed the tire.I had me best clobber on and was covered in muck and grease as i changed the tire.We got it sorted and headed back to her place at about 1230AM and had a laugh saying it was the curse of that old gypsy woman from the film,LOL;D

Hmmm really, I don't know I just thought it was kinda dumb in some parts and I love Jeremy Piven especially in Entourage.

BrĂ¼no.
The stupidity of some parents in that movie is staggering. Willing to do anything to have their kids potentially playing in a movie, including making them to lose 10 pounds when they weight 30... Some scenes really made me chuckle too, not as good as Borat but there is definitely some very good moments and worth to be seen for a laugh.

Watched Terminator Salvation last night I actually enjoyed the film I new going into it it was pretty much going to be all action and not much else for me to not bad.
I have Public Enemies waiting to watch I have just been trying to catch up on this season of Dexter so I have been putting it on hold. Gotta say if you havent seen this season of Dexter I personally think its the best season to date so far. The writing is really good this season. Who ever comes up with some of this stuff is a sick fucker lol.

i liked it cos it was dumb ha ha, but most comedies piss me off cos they start funny for half an hour then get all serious & stop being funny, this one made me laugh all the way thru, i loved the scene with the korean guy gettin beaten up cos they all thought he was japenese, then saying if he didnt report it as a hate crime he could have first car sale;D

re: last movie you watched (Flag Up SPOILERS)
Movie Avatar semi-spoiler.
Saw Avatar. It is Dances with Wolves, except 300 years in the future. Take from that what you will. But with really freakin cool special effects in 3D. Best 3D i've seen and it isn't even close.
If ya happen to be tripping or planning on tripping on some mind-altering substances and need to kill 3 hrs, I highly recommend it. Otherwise, it's just okay.

Jeremy Brett was THE BEST Sherlock....end of discussion.

yo lyle i have a backlog of abt 60 films on my comp to get thru @ the moment but defo gonna watch the films u recommended, there is an old hitchcock one on in a few days time called 'the wrong man' abt a bass player mistakenly arrested for robbery, its got henry fonda in it, i have never heard of it but thought would give it a try. have u seen it?

re: last movie you watched (Flag Up SPOILERS)
I haven't seen that one, no. I still think Psycho is one of the scariest movies ever, the way in which it was shot makes it un-nerving, but my favorite Hitchcock film is North by Northwest

Well because older films didn't have to rely on special effects or gimmicks, the directors were much better the actors were much better and the plot was usually better.
Older films are like older music, you listen to something made in the 1950's and when it sounds like it would be a hit even to this day it just blows you away all the more....the same with movies anything Kubrick or Hitchcock did was years ahead of its time.

i hate all this new CGI shite it ruins films cos it dont even look real most of the time looks more like adding animation to it:mad: when it comes to FX u cant beat the original star wars man those spaceships still look real flying around space;D as i said once i caught up on all my movies i downloaded i am gonna try the ones u suggested & maybe a few more older ones;D

re: last movie you watched (Flag Up SPOILERS)
CGI is supposed to help movies look "more realistic" or "more fantastic" and all it is, is a crutch for the directors and writers and it just takes away from the "film". For example, I had high hopes about 'Public Enemies' having read the book and looked at the cast, it was shot 100% digital and it looks like a fucking video game and the parts where there's no action happening, it looks hollow, there's no soul to the shots.
If you watch a Kubrick movie you see FILM, you see great shots, great use of angles, his shots speak to you without much input from the actors....you see in "The Shining" where Shelly Duvall and the little kid are running from the Hotel (out the bothroom window) and it's shot from what seems like miles away and that shot gives you the vastness and harshness of their surrounding area to show the viewer how alone they are, how helpless, how scared, and how futile their struggle seems. If Stanley Kubrick was making films today every single one of the people wanting to make a "Graphic Novel" on film would have wanted him to direct, he had the ability (as those artists that create graphic novels) to capture events, feelings, action, foreshadowing, space, time, and any deep meanings all in 1 shot. If you have ever seen "American Psycho" the director of that movie (Mary Harron) was paying hommage to Kubrick with the way she shot the film and in my opinion she did a great job shooting that film.
The following are Kubrick movies I HIGHLY reccomend all of them: 2001 A Space Odyssey , Clockwork Orange, Full Metal Jacket, Spartacus, Dr. Strangelove, Barry Lyndon, Paths of Glory, Lolita....Eyes Wide Shut was his final film and although it has Tom Cruise and I don't appreciate him much I still think the visual of the film is pretty cool and the story is unique for film, the only other story I can think of that is kind of similar is 'Young Goodman Brown'
The best shot movies I have seen recently were the BBC "Planet Earth" series....tenacious film making and all for a greta purpose, to expose true nature to people who #1 may have never seen it #2 may never have had an intrest in it or #3 have always wondered/been curious about it....spectacular series.
The stories and plots in movies also used to be a lot better, I haven't seen Avatar but I figure I can pretty much tell it's "Dances With Wolves" for a couple hundred million dollars more to make, the CGI may be "amazing" to some critics but they don't know good movies, they are swayed by marketing and buzz. Video games and combo meals...movies these days (for the most part) are 2 and a half hour long commercials.
I am also a huge fan of Film Noir and that had it's hey day in the 1930's and 1940's, even if they tried to remake the classics like "The Maltese Falcon", "The Thin Man", or "The Big Sleep" Hollywood lacks the actors to pull off the characters in those movies. The best actress in the world couldn't hold a candle to a 19 year old Lauren Bacall in "To Have and Have Not"...all actresses these days can pull of are #1 Slut (Angelina Jolie)#2 Inspiring figure (Hillary Swank) #3 Prude (Natalie Portman) #4 Romantic Comedy Lead (Sandra Bullock/Reese Witherspoon/etc)....hard to find a lead actress these days that can pull off classy yet sultry without looking like a total whore. And NOBODY could pull off Bogart these days, Harrison Ford could try but nobody can do what Bogey did.

re: last movie you watched (Flag Up SPOILERS)
very good post lyle, very interesting read! u obviosuly know what u are talking abt, i love all those bbc wildlife documenties, as well.
alot of people said how great public enemies was, but i am on your side regarding the film, it just seemed a very flat film no passion, it is an incredible true story I dont know how the hell they made a very avergae movie outta that one, also i thought the same abt zodiac film, it was so boring but i have read plenty on the case & once again couldnt believe that they made a crap movie outta it:mad:
-
re: last movie you watched (Flag Up SPOILERS)
fianlly watched inglorious basterds & i must say thoroughly enjoyed it, tarrantino on his A game again;D its one of my favs from 2009.
halloween 2 the rob zombie remake was horrible truelly shite, i enjoyed the original remake by zombie but this was just gore with little imagination. i mean his sister who is traumatized by the first even has a fkin charles manson poster abv her bed (just pathetic) its a film really for 15 yr olds who think that a film with stabbing thru out is cool.
the invention of lying started off well then after half an hour turned so boring & serious like virtually all comedies do.i really dont think that ricky gervais can pull off a comedy movie all by himself.
watched blades of glory again. i love this film, a real good comedy
zombieland a good comedy & better than i thought it would be not as good as shaun of the dead but good silly fun, & a great surprise appearance by a comedy genius but i wont spoil it & say who incase people aint seen the film
if all of u think i been watching to many films, your right, i just got a new tv & its awesome;D

re: last movie you watched (Flag Up SPOILERS)
Up. Lyle, everything you were saying about movies is in this Pixar film and it is probably one of, if not, the best one. The first ten minutes will have you almost in tears, it is just that touching. The little kid isn
t annoying like you might have thought from the previews. It's better than Wall-E and I really like that. Pixar proved again why they are the best at computer animation movies-they have the best stories.
