Medina came in to the song that made the Rocky films. Eye of the Tiger, and absolutely no sense of cheesiness from him either. Bautista is coming in to some rap music I can't quite identify, can't believe that arena is quite as empty as it is, this is one of the big fights of the evening. Next up, the starter for a great event in boxing history. I hope we'll all remember it for the good stuff.

Round 1:

Game ON!!! I am buzzing tonight.
Cagey start, as they look to feel each other out. Decent left hook from Medina. Good jab and straight from Medina. Bautista claiming the centre of the ring, and launches his first accurate jab. Medina lunging in and looking for short straight shots. Medina coming forward with big hooks and straight shots, forcing Bautista back on to the ropes. Two hard body shots from the Bautista, but a watning from the ref. Medina lands a jab and straight right. Body shots from Bautista, and a left hook on the bell.

Pretty even opening round, as they both startto get the rhythm going.

Another cagey start, and Medina gets caught on the way in. Bautista pins Medina on the rope, with hard body shots. He's warned again by the ref. Bautista lands two hooks, but gets a right hook himself. Hard shots from Dautista, and landing hooks and overhand rights, but Medina throws back another countyer catching Bautista. Bautista presses again, but Medina is getting through iwth a few counters. And the screen freezes. Uh-oh. Medina reddend around the left eye. Bautista popping the jabs, and not wanting to get countered. Touch gloves by both.

Good fight, Bautista edges ahead.

20-19 to boom boom

Round 3:

Medina comes out with a bit more intent, popping a pair of jabs out. Bautista returns a jab, but Medina puts in two hooks upstairs, then a body shots. Overhand right from Bautista. Median hooking twice, but then gets pinned on a rope with body shots by Boo Boom. Jab and hook from Bautista. Jab, hook, jab jab from Bautista, as Medina gets pinned back in the corner again. Medina waving Bautista on. Two hooks from Bautista, but Medina narrowly misses with a hard right hook. Two body shots from Bautista. REf gives him a last warning for low blows. Medina not seeming to feel them thoguh. Hard left, right from Medina as autista comes in. Good uppercut an straight from Bautista.

Round 4:

Good jab hook from Medina, but gets caught on the way in. Bautista is working harder and throwing more, and when he does go in Medina is always retreating onto the ropes. Good right from Bautista. Hard body shot from Bautista. Left from Bautista, then a Medina hook catches Bautista on the way in. And again. Bautista throwing and Medina looking to counter. Straight right and a jab from Bautista. Medina lands a couple of body shots. Looking to stand and trade for the first time. Hook from Bautista. Uppercut and straight rights from Bautista.

Boom Boom stretching away now.

40-37

Round 5:

Boom Boom looking good so far, but every round starts with this cagey stand off. Bautista jabbing pirercing the guard. Medina lands a jab and an overhand right. Jab from Medina as he lunges into a clinch. Two nice jabs from Bautista, but misses with an overhand right. Hook from Medina caught on the gloves. Two body shots from Medina. Bautista missing with a jab and a wild hook. Hard body shots from Bautista. A flurry of body shots and hooks upstairs, but in the flurry Bautista accepts two hard hooks. Good flurry from Bautista, and Medina lundges into the clinch. Bautista looked good there. Bautista deducted a point for low blows. Good jab straight from Bautista, but a left hook comes back from Medina.

With the deduction, it makes it a tied round for me.

Round 6:

edina lands two hooks early doors in the round. They were working on a cut over Medina's left eye in the corner. Bautista still bouncing around, popping jabs and hooks to the body. Medina is pretty flat footed and standing on his heels. Good left hook from Bautista as Medina ambles in. Good left from Bautista rocks Medina's head back. Medina walking on with a hook. Left from Bautista knocks Medina down, he seemed to slip[ at the same time though. 8-count. Bautista comes forward ewith jabs and hard straight shots, though Medina still looks pretty fresh. Medina coming forward, but missing with his big hooks.

Bautista 59-54

Round 7:

Is anyone else nervous.... can't wait for the main event. Cagey start again. Medina misses a few hooks. Bautista dropping in a few body shots, then avoids the Medina swings. Bautista popping in a few jabs, Medina lands a hard hook, and another, but a left back from Bautista. Good hooks from medina again, but his jabs seem a little laboured. BClash of heads and they both walk away. Bautista jabs and good left right hook from Medin Medina lands five or 6 hooks and Boom Boom looks really troubled. 8 count from Medina. Bautsita catches Medina in a clinch, and Bautista seems to recover. Left hook from Medina, and Bautista is runnin here. Another clinch.

Medina's flurry could well have finished Boom Boom, but can Bautista recover.

67-64 to Bautista though on my card.

Round 8:

Medina looked good for the first time there. Medina opens p with more hooks, a right from Medina rocks Boom Boom. They're both warned for a clash of heads. Bautista bleeding from the left eye, and Medina throws in a left hook again. Bautista jabs, but a hook sends him retreating. Medina looking much better now, throwing hooks and Bautista looking tired and worried in there. Two body shots from Bautista, but Medina lands two hooks upstairs. Bautista is watne for headbutt. Good left hook then a right from Medina. Bautista complains about a cut on the right ey. Bautista comes forward swinigng hard, but Medina lands hooks that are bothering the opponent. Bautista warned for a low blow.

Medina coming into his own, and reeling in that lead.

Good hard left hook from Medina as Bautista comes in. Good left and right hook from Medina. Medina landing hard body hooks, as Bautista bangs in a short uppercut. Left hook catches Bautista as he comes in. Bautista with a jab and a hard straight right. Medina throwing those body hooks very well. Bautista watned for pushin his opponent down in the clinch. Medina hooks again, but he seems to be backing off now Bautista jabs out. Body shot from Bautista. Jabs and body shots from Bautista Good jab and straight right from Medina. Jab from Medina, and a shot on the bell by Bautista.

Bautista edges it.

Medina back to standing back now, and jabs and straight rights from Bautista. Body hook from Medina, but gets caught flush by a right from Bautista. Good left right from Medina. And another left right from Medina, as Bautista presses him back in the corner. Medina clinches. Body shots from Bautista, but Medina is still swinging out hooks that land as Bautista comes forward. Nice right from Medina.

Bautista seems to have gathered himself, and pulled through.
