I scored it 115 to 113 for Raheem
But
Some of those early rounds could have gone either way
and
Freitas was the agressor, which should count for something when it is a close fight.

Some how HBO was giving Raheem rounds early that Freitas won. The first round for instance they scored for Raheem. Neither guy was immpesive and Neither guy deserved to win. But Raheem got away with stuff that most guys would have had a point deducted. He was lucky that first "slip" was not ruled a knock down. And quite frankly his horrible balance issued did not look good to the judges. I had it a draw, but Frietas did more to win if anything.
I saw Raheem win the early rounds because Freitas would run into Raheem's jabs. Its difficult to see who won the rounds because it depends on what you look for. If you look for the aggresor then you will see Freitas winning the rounds, if you look for the boxer landing the cleaner shots you go Raheem. It's just one of those fights. Its more Freitas' fault then Raheems for that performance by both men imo. Freitas held Raheem more imo. Its just one of those either way fights.
I must have been watching something else than cause i saw Raheem lunge in very low and grab Freitas Waist smothering himself and looking sloppy a f@ck. Too bad Freitas didnt uppercut more when he lunged in to grab like that. Like I said they both got nothing to be happy with about that performanceQuote:

Raheem was way too low. Ridiculously low and there was NO reason for it. He was smothering himself. He should have been jabbing from a distance and keeping Freitas on the end of his punches. He could have beat Freitas handly imo if he didnt fight so dumb. Boxers should NEVER try to brawl. It doesnt work
Pernell Whitaker did that a lot more then Raheem did and he's my favorite fighter so I can appreciate it more. And he didn't fight a dumb fight because I think he won it. And believe me I wanted Popo to blow him out. Like I said I expected more from Freitas and less from Raheem. So I'd like to follow where Raheem goes from here, because I'm not at all interested in seeing Freitas getting knocked out by Corrales again
Ill agree with that i definately have no interest in seeing freitas fight chico again. As far as raheem i just cant see him beating the elite fighters in the division and being a dominant force though a Corrales fight could be interesting. And for the record Raheem on his best day cant even touch Whitaker. When Pernell came in low he would get work done cause he would leave himself room.Quote:

I'll have to see the fight again, but I am almost sure when Raheem tried to come in and give himself room that Freitas would hold his arm so Raheem would hit him with the free one and then the ref would call break and say not to punch and then Raheem would stop and Freitas would try to hit him. I think. I need to watch it again.
and from what I remember when Freitas didn't hold and Raheem had that space he would flurry and try to fight Freitas very hard often being off balance because Freitas would move out of the way.
No doubt it was a piss poor matchup. Both guys really are to blame reguardless of who is more to blame. If i can sit through it again ill try and watch it again to see if i missed anything.
I think you're bang on with the matchup, It was going to be that way more then likely. Two fighters can be spectacular leading up, but against each others style of fighting they will look amateurish. I'm willing to bet they look spectacular against anyone else. Well not Freitas if he fights Corrales again.
:coolclick: agreed. Maybe not spectacular though
Agreed, but better then advertised last night.
I just don't see what you guys see in Raheem's performance last night. ???
I suppose you guys score SHOULDER SLAMMING, clinching, hugging, circling away, falling, and bodyslams...
... Then Raheem won.
???
Because Raheem did all those and in big numbers. Not only that, he consistently rammed Frietas to the ropes throughout the fight?!? How can you root for that?!?
The 11th, for Freitas, was the most one sided round in the fight, but make no mistake I'm not counting on round 11 for the fight. In the beginning Freitas edged it out, just based on his athleticism and awkwardness. Then Raheem edged it out in the middle rounds based on his frustrating awkwardness. Both fighters had their moments at the beginning, middle, and end, BUT you can see who had the edge each time. Both even hurt each other. Then in the final rounds, it was Freitas who was more willing to throw leather.
Even after all this consideration, I still can't see how people thought Raheem won. If Raheem won, I would have said it went to the wrong fighter, but it was close enough to say it wasn't a robbery. Although, I'm quite glad it didn't go to the Ruiz impersonator, because to be honest, I thought he lost.
IF you guys liked Raheem's performance in the last round, then I'm surprised you guys aren't calling for Ruiz' return.
Raheem in that round, was more willing to ram his shoulder at Freitas' midsection, instead of letting it go and try to win big.
Hey... why was Raheem's head there to begin with? That's what I want to know, why was Raheem constantly doing his best impression of not wanting to fight, in a close fight.
That was the most boring Freitas fight I have ever seen.
Am I blaming Raheem for that?
Hell yeah, I am.
Just as Lennox said, Raheem needs to thow more straight jabs to set up his other punches. And comparisions to Winky are an insult to the consistent Winkster.
