Raleights...I hate to disagree with you...because we had that arguement about us disagreeing...but that is just plain wrong!
You do realize that Hopkins has been in this since waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay back when & Hopkins aint a primadonna. He's fought his way up through the ranks just like Joe did...the thing is...people discredit opposition too much once they are beaten & destroyed & that is a growing trend that needs to end.
If you analyze Hopkins record he beat every mandatory & every threat that came his way outside of Jones & he did it in style & with power.
The thing is...the warrior mentality is what Hopkins is known for...problem is...everyone forgets the past & latches on to the future/present...even when a man is retiring.

I see what your saying but i think joe is the worst example to use. The man is notorious for ducking people and just cause he finally grew some balls and fought someone after 10 years that doesn't mean he is the toughest guy out there. At the end you cant even compare joes and hops resume. Hop fought roy, unified the mw division after like 15 years, koed 2 legends in trinidad and de la hoya, defended title 20 times. All joe has done is beat an old Eubank and Jeff Lacy. He held the wbo belt almost 10 years before he even tried to unify. As of right now he just don't stack up to hop, maybe he'll do something in the coming years then we can judge better.
WoW - can you really be that much of an idiot, or are your last two posts on here a joke?

I see what you're saying, and I have a question for you since I'm obviously not qualified to answer this
Is Joe a stylistic nightmare for Hopkins?

Well i think at 40 years old yes but i do think hop would have been too much for joe about 4 years ago.Keep in mind i only give joe the edge now because his work rate would be alot higher than hops but i in no way think joe is a better boxer than hop.

Stylistically...no.
Output...YES.
I don't give a shat what anyone (Wacko included) says...prime for prime Calzaghe would have lost...but Hopkins is no longer in his prime.
Physically...Hopkins is there...& I know this will be confusing...but mentally...he aint the same Terror/Executioner that he was back in the day.
If he were...Joe'd be fwocked.
In answer to your question...I think that Hopkins now is going to lose to Tarver...I think that Calzaghe would smoke Tarver...that should answer it.
Again...I aint trying to be a smart ass or the know it all that I have been branded of late...I'm just giving you my honest "nose up the Nard's ass" opinion. ;D

Agreed.
Again though...not the style...the output.
Hopkins is still cagey enough to beat Calzaghe.
The showing against Lacy would not be remotely close to the output against Hopkins.

I agree 100% :) I thought i was the only one to notice the mental thing. It just seems like he got comfortable in his old age and legacy and he fights differently because of it.He don't like to take risks in the ring anymore,i think seeing jones get koed + his age got him fighting cautious. I think he is better than tarver but i know he won't take the risks to really beat him.

Explain why i think your an idiot if what you said in thelast few posts about calzaghe weren't jokes? sure...
Firstly you said something somewhere about hopkins not fighting him now because he wouldn't bring his a** to the USA -when someone posted in black and white saying about him willing to fight hopkins in the USA, but hopkins changed his mind as 1.8million wasn't enough for him...
then you talk about Calzaghe ducking people? name one person he has ducked? he has fought and beaten every single person put in front of him
You mention him being in the ring with RJJ, like that alone makes him a better fighter lol.. or do u think hopkins challenged RJJ, or give him a shot? 'coz the IBF made them fight for the vacant belt since hopkins was ranked number 1 in the world and RJJ ranked number 2 at the time. then lol you go on to say how knocking out de la hoya and trinidad was again something spectacular... both great fighers, neither was a middleweight though
As for calzaghe only beating an 'old' eubank and lacy, don't forget he beat eubank when he was very young and had little experience. He also broke his hand during round 8 of his fight with robin Reid and went on to win; make no mistake when Reid wasn't worying about how good he looked he was a damn good fighter IMO adleast, he fought well that night agasint calzaghe. He also beat the then, world number 1 ranked by the WBO mario veint in 120seconds!
but with all that said your prolly just pissed he beat your boy lacy, if lacy can be a true man about that night, take a page from his book and get off calzaghes back and either respect him or shut up about him.
Re: Why isn't Hopkins fighting Calzaghe?
It doesn't make sense for Calzaghe to fight a 40 or 41 year old Bernard Hopkins. Even if he did deliver a sh!t kicking, all you would hear is "Hopkins was way past his prime" . I say fight 20 something challengers and work yourself up to legend status. Don't fight over the hill fighters. Hopkins is retiring after the Tarver fight anyways.

-First off watch the name calling. I've given you your respect now give me mine.
-I never tried to make a point about joe not wanting to fight in the U.S. so learn to read.
-You say 1.8 mil should be enough to fight joe when he got about 3 mil to fight howard eastman.Come on if you can get 3 mil for a guy like that shouldn't you get more for a fighter like joe.
-You knock hop for beating smaller guys in trinidad and oscar. Heres a question;Do you think Marvin Hagler is great? He too made his name by fighting smaller fighters (duran, hearns, srl). At the end of the day those two fighters are better than anyone joe has ever has or probably will face.
-I was just bringing up roy to show the kinda comp hes been in with. If he only fought roy and then retired he would still have retired fighting better opposition than joe has ever fought.
-Bringing up robin reid in this conversation was a joke right? Please tell me that was a joke?
-I don't even like Lacy. I need to" respect him or shut up about him". What are you two dating or something? Are you defending his honor? Get a life.
Re: Why isn't Hopkins fighting Calzaghe?
The better question is, why isn't Calzaghe fighting...anyone?

when i said 1.8mil i was talking in UK pounds, 1.8mil in UK pounds then was equal to $3mil. Also, the easterman fight took place around 4 years after warren tried to get hopkins to fight calzaghe in the us. During that time hopkins went on to pick up the WBA belt from William joppy, beat 'the golden boy' making an even bigger name for him self - but yet getting the same payday... Also during that time he fought people like; Carl Daniels and Morrade Hakkar (although i think Hakkar was a mandatory fight, I'm not certain though) something tells me hapkins didn't get $3mill each form those fights both taking place in Pa... seems not even a decent venue wanted to host either fight.

I never once 'knocked him' please show me one derogatory word i said about him? there is a subtle difference in discouraging an opinion and knocking one, all i did was point out beating great fighters at a weight they are far form being their best at is not a good enough reason to glorify someone.

And i was just pointing out he fought Jones 'coz he had pretty much no other choice. He talked about wanting to fight RJJ again after he beat Trinidad but again nothing came of it...

'Coz its getting extremely tidies reading this constant crap over and over, commenting on it (last time i checked it was a forum to give opinions) - that means i don't have a life and i am dating him?
Its starting to get extremely pathetic the fact calzaghe and hopkins have very similar career history's. Both great champions for a long time (Jc still is ofc) neither fighter got the chance to beat a world beater natural to that weight, or in his prime to win or defend their tittles..
Yet, hopkins now coming to the end of his career is looked back upon as a legend, a hall of Former - a true boxing great...
Where as calzaghe is looked upon as a guy who only beat one well known guy, and then the guy was 'overrated' Jc is someone 'ducked' people and wouldn't fight outside of the UK...
Swap their nationalities and it would be Hopkins the one being condemned and calzaghe the one being hyped...
