if magalini was as good as he cliamed he wouldnt have been touched, the fool got DUFFED up all kinds of ways, and he doesnt even know why some fighters keep thier lead hand down, he keeps it down... BUT ISNT A COUNTER PUNCHER, DOESNT BLOCK WITH HIS SHOULDER, AND DOESNT EVEN USE HIS FOREARM TO STOP BODY SHOTS
this guy said he would break cottos face...
COTTO LITERALLY BROKE HIS!!! :D :D :D
Re: Cotto Paulie-post your thoughts here
Paulie deserves alot of credit for his performance last night and he made a real fight of it against a top class opponent. Fair play....Cotto just landed the harder punches and had that extra bit of class.

Well said. He definitely said he was gonna break his face and he damn sure got his broken up real good. It's funny how I read posts of so many people say they didn't have an opinion cause they never seen him fight or not enough of him and then the same people picked him on the count of his big mouth.
Re: Cotto Paulie-post your thoughts here
I just watched the fight, my first impression after reading everybodies posts and watching the fight is that Paulie is one tough SOB. The kid has a top chin and some good skills. But I think his lack of power is going to hold him back, keep him as a fringe contender. He could possibly win a title somewhere down the line, but I cant see him dominating.
I thought that Cotto dominated the fight. The rounds that Paulie won were because of Cotto's lack of activity in those rounds. I felt Cotto gave him those rounds more than Paulie won them. When Cotto was busy he clearly won the rounds with effective punches and controling the fight.
Lot of respect for Paulie, but he was outclassed by Cotto.

:coolclick:
I agree COMPLETELY. On every point.
Re: Cotto Paulie-post your thoughts here
I give Paulie his respect for toughness but he has to receive some flack for talking so recklessly. He even got people to predict that he was going to win with his mouth alone. Since his mouth wrote a check his a** couldn't cash he has to take what's coming.

Paulie could not make the next day conference, that's how badly he was busted up but he made me a fan,he really is tough! I had it Cotto by 5,possibly 6.His defence ws very good,Paulie only caught him clean later in the fight.
I thought Cotto was fortunate to come away with the win. I had it level going into the last. Cotto dug deep and pulled out the 12th. By no means did Cotto win convincingly. Paulie had him in all sorts of trouble with his hand speed.
Sorry to hear you missed the fight. LOL
Actually, you'll find that you're in the minority on this one, mate. Paulie ran Cotto very close in that fight.

Re: Cotto Paulie-post your thoughts here
Some people just don't like to admit they're wrong about their predictions. It's ok, I saw the fight so I know the truth. Paulie has been calling Cotto out for years now and I'll admit that as a Cotto fan I didn't like the matchup because of Paulies speed and skill but all that showed me is that Cotto brings more to the table than even I thought. He crushed him. If Paulie robbed you b4 the fight you would not be able to pick him out of a lineup afterward. He was a little more busy, but all he was hitting was Cotto's gloves most of the time. Cotto had him holding on for dear life the last few rounds and that tells you that he was doing well enough to almost win. LOL, funny
Re: Cotto Paulie-post your thoughts here
Nope. Paulie gave Cotto issues. Malignaggi was good but Cotto was the better man that night. Much like Mundine Kessler ;)

Really?
Because I really didn't think that was a close fight. I haven't seen anyone else on any other website think so either. And all the reports I've seen on the fight called it the way I saw it. I really would like to hear what rounds Malignaggi won and why he was so sucessful.

Forget about trying to convince these LASIK clients that their man didn't get crushed. People hate to admit they picked wrong. They'll say anything and deny everything.
Re: Cotto Paulie-post your thoughts here
Interesting how people can watch the same fight, and come out with opinions 180 degrees different.
;D
That's what makes boxing such a great spectator sport, I guess.

As I watched the fight I did not feel like Paulie was giving Cotto that much trouble. I felt that Cotto was able to do what he wanted the majority of every round (except for the rounds he took off). Even the rounds Paulie won I did not feel that he outboxed Cotto. Cotto just did not do anything those rounds to win them.

Cool click for you :coolclick: That is exactly how I saw it. For me Cotto was the only fighter who could have won that fight and after the bell Paulie knew it too, you could see it on his face.
Cotto slowed up in the middle of the fight and didn't do enough to win the rounds, if he had thrown a bit more he could have pretty much shut Malignaggi out of the fight, but he didn't.
The little New yorker was excellent in that he never gave up against a bigger stronger opponent and his hand speed was excellent and made Cotto look slow when I'm sure he is not. Sadly for malignaggi his defence is not great and his face told that story at the end of the fight.
I didn't think Cotto's defence was very good either, Paulie seemed to be able to jab him in the face at will and Cotto was starting to puff up around the eyes at the end of the fight.
Cotto hits hard but he's not the knock out artist that his fans think he is or a light puncher like Paulie would never have made it through 12 rounds with him.
Now he's moved into the top level he is going to have the chance to display his wares against the best around or move up a weight.
