Re: Just another one of Wacko's Drunken Round by Rounds...Taylor vs Wright.
I think people are expecting WAY to much of Winky, at middleweight.... What natural middleweight has he ever fought? THe closest thing was Sam Soliman, and that's just a fact... Sure he MAY have had a sub par night or whatever, or maybe he isn't as good at 160, is that not possible ???... it is pretty clear that he isn't going to be able to crush a grape at middleweight... I am personally of the opinion that Bhop would beat down Winky as of today, or would have had he fought him instead of Taylor. I think Hopkins defense is just as good as Winky's, probably better because he actually moves ALOT more, and that's why he was able to make Taylor miss alot of good punches...Wright doesn't have the same kind of footwork, ring smarts, or ability to use the ring that Hopkins did. Winky is great at blocking shots, but really, will TAylor have as much trouble actually landing them as he did against Bhop? I really doubt it. His jab is probably just as good as Winky's, but again he's bigger and has a power and probably reach advantage... What fighter has Winky ever faced that could match his jab?? I mean this is a huge test for both guys, don't just downplay Taylor's chances really think about the fight, I mean look what Bhop just did to Tarver, Taylor isn't doing badly at all... Every advantage you could give Winky over Taylor should have also been there for Hopkins in both fights... Now I know Taylor was hardly a champ after either Bhop fight but I have already stated why I think Bhop is a better fighter and certainly a better middleweight than Winky, and there was probably a reason he wasn't able to dominate the Taylor fight himself, because Taylor is a very powerful athletic and large middleweight. I think Emanuel Steward will have him fully prepared with a good game plan, and I think he will stop Winky in this fight.

I think Winky walks back Jermain the entire fight popping that right jab out and sticking behind the jab and a superb defense. Jermain doesn't fight very well when he is being walked down and I think closing the gap and timing Winky coming in all while trying to penetrate that cagey defense is going to be a task to tall for him.
good point, it could be that the outcome is determend by what distance (between them) the fight is fought at.

Maybe people are expecting too much of Winky...but atleast he's up to the challenge of 160...whether or not he can bear it...we shall see.
Problem is...alot of people underate Soliman...not that I overrate him...but the guy is an enigma as far as a boxer goes...also...people need to watch the fight & not listen to what the morons in the back ground are saying. I'm thrilled that he threw 1200+ punches...but I'm even more thrilled that he hardly landed any of them.
Wright did just fine against Soliman. Watch the fight again.

When has crushing middleweight fighters had to mean anything. If you pay attention to the middleweight division...theyr'e all boxers...not a gaggle of punchers. The rely on their technique rather than KO power. Look at the men that Taylor has KO'd...very few are legit middles...they were on their way up...just like Wright is on him way up...the difference is that Taylor has never faced anyone like Winky Wright.
Wright has the better defense. It's been proven & admitted to by Hopkins. Hops is slicker...that's the difference IWO.
Wright might not have the same footwork but you can damn sure believe that he's got the ring smarts. He's been at it as long or longer than Bernard & he's fought just about every single style out there that there is.
I think that you might be surprised how up to the challenge Wright will be.

I think that he'll have just as many if not more issues landing against Wright than Hopkins. I always said that if there was anyone that could legit defeat Hopkins it would be Wright.

None...but for that matter neither has Taylor...the fight will definently boil down to stamina, jab, & defense. I think that Wright's gonna negate Taylor's power with his defense.

Taylor has championship qualities...but he is being rushed a bit IWO. He looked really really bad against Hopkins...stellar against all the rest...then again...Hopkins is the best so Taylor could be on to something.
Hopkins is ofcourse a better middleweight of the three...but then again...Taylor's been at it longer than Wright...so if Wright comes out on top...what does that say for Wright? Hell if he even performs decently...I'll give him just as much credit as I will if Taylor performs decently...but I don't want no half assed shat like the last Taylor go round.

I couldn't of said that any better myself ;D :goodpost:
Re: Just another one of Wacko's Drunken Round by Rounds...Taylor vs Wright.
Hey Wackoff i don't agree that Winky's defensive will negate Taylors power... on the contrary I think his defense will work against him! :lickish: evading a punch negates it not catching it on the arms ;)
Re: Just another one of Wacko's Drunken Round by Rounds...Taylor vs Wright.
i have a strange feeling that no matter the outcome of this fight we'll have a lot of contraversy and plenty of debate and drama on SADDO for many weeks to come! ;D

If your arms can handle it then it is fine. Wright spars with Lacy I'm sure his arms have felt power worse then Taylors.

Okay, its time for the Miles kiss of death :lightingzapA: ;D
Winky to win by decision
Re: Just another one of Wacko's Drunken Round by Rounds...Taylor vs Wright.
I think Winky UD Taylor is too even paced and doesn't throw enough punches, Jermain needs to hurt wright early to win IMO and I think that is unlikely.
Re: Just another one of Wacko's Drunken Round by Rounds...Taylor vs Wright.
There are some very knowledgeable boxing fans on this site.I'm proud to be apart of such an intelligent site.....I'm picking Winky for an easy victory ..J.T is just not crafty enough to give W.W problems...a basic 1-2 is just not enough.. Its also funny to me how most people think Winky has no power but can you recall any fight that he didn't ring his opponents bell at least once? AND NEW MIDDLE WEIGHT CHAMPION OF THE WORLD :'(
