Ummmm...I think it is quite a big deal who has the main four belts.....that is what everyone is in boxing for after all, to win championships. And 95% of the time, who has the belts does indicate who are in the top tier of each division.Quote:

It's the most downtrodden of people that become the best fighters. I always had a secret plan to go to the Ozarks and find the meanest, dirtiest, ugliest, kid you can find, and make him a champion. Some child whose mother never bounced him on her knee, whose father beat him like a borrowed mule, who never got a Christmas present and never had a birthday cake.
Take him and lock him in your basement with weights, heavy and speed bags, gloves, and a TV that shows nothing but fight footage 24 hrs a day. Then when he is ready bring him out and let him clean house...

Truth is his chin is horrible and he has problems with fighters who move a lot. His offense is very good and he throws his punches perfect but he has to do everything mechanicaly. Problem is there is a difference between knowing how to get past him and actually doing it. If Wlad ever learns how to deal with pressure and guys who come at him hard the way sanders did he could have a long reignQuote:

I just watched that Witherspoon kid fight last night....I like that kid, he looked good in a ring that was obviously hard for lighter fighters to fight in....
I like the kids personal history with fighting and Weight issues...

Since the collapse of the Soviet Union, we have seen two things:
- the Eastern European states have been opened up to the west much more than under the Soviets
- economic bankruptcy has led to the creation of a new underclass. In the UK now (especially in the South) nearly every low paid menial job is filled by an eastern european. That is not because they are any worse, or more stupid than anyone else, but simply that they come from a poorer background.
This means that we will see more and more eastern europeans in sports. The great Soviet and eastern bloc tradition of sport will help this, but the main contributor is that poor desperate people and immigrants tend to dominate sports like boxing (see: the Irish and the Jews in 1900 London and the states a bit later on, american black people after that, and now the Eastern Europeans?)
I suspect that we will get to see some great fighters in the next ten years who are Eastern European.
