Re: Is 154 the weakest division in boxing
So far nobody mentioned Sergiy Dzinziruk,so I do... ;D
Pretty good boxer, but has a low profile, needs to step it up...
Its not he greatest division right now(and probably will never be),but its okay...
And yeah...I also think the Light Heavyweights are pretty weak right now...
Re: Is 154 the weakest division in boxing
Look out for Salford's own Jamie Moore, he has a fight with WBC #2 Michele Piccarilo in the pipeline, is hungry, experienced and very exciting. He's a fighter's fighter and I think the world would enjoy watching him, I think he's capable of capturing something in the division.
Re: Is 154 the weakest division in boxing
If you count the people who move up from 147 and down from 160...I'd say that 154 is pretty solid.
Re: Is 154 the weakest division in boxing
I think the super middle weights are the weakest right now. Thats if the Straw weights didn't exist. The super middle weights have the most cuddled champ in history of the division.
Re: Is 154 the weakest division in boxing
Its not one of the very top divisions but I don't think anything's as bad as LH. At least Chad Dawson looks interesting but still a weak division.
Re: Is 154 the weakest division in boxing
Id say 130 is no better than 154 right now.
Not that thats a bad thing.

YOu have it wrong Mosley is gone back down to 147, and he is anything but shot. Vargas and Mayorga aren't even contenders in the division. THere is still Simms who is very good, Oscar Dela Hoya, P4P champ Mayweather, Spinks, Quartey(if he moves back down), I also haven't heard anything about Quartey vs. FOrrest.

Re: Is 154 the weakest division in boxing
There are several pretty crap divisions right now. Featherweight is empty, lightweight has potential for a good couple title matches in the coming months but no real exceptional talent. Junior welterweight has Hatton, Castillo and........well that's it. 154 is pretty weak as well, as are the lightheavyweight and cruiserweight divisions.
Heavyweight is weak but I still think its interesting, which is more than you can say for featherweight, lightheavy and crusierweight.
For me the hot divisions are super featherweight, welterweight, middleweight, super middle weight and despite the lack of talent, the heavies.
Re: Is 154 the weakest division in boxing

Re: Is 154 the weakest division in boxing
Don't forget about Travis Simms in the 154 division. After a 2 1/2 year layoff he dominated Jose Rivera.
I'd say 140 is pretty weak right now, besides Hatton, not much there.

Simms looked great agianst Rivera, who really is a tough Mexican warrior, but is also really a welterweight, and a good one but not a great one. I wonder myself if Simms can stay consistent and if he is really the goods or not. Time will tell. He did look great in his last win though, nearly unhittable, mean too.
Re: Is 154 the weakest division in boxing
Tarvis Simms, Cory Spinks. Andre Dirrel, and Berto probably gonna be moving up, Karmazin and Ouma around there.
I'd say in the next two years that 154 will become the new 147
