Nah, man F*** you. Augustus is a hell of a fighter. Like Starr said watch his fights with Floyd Maywhether and Micky Ward. Floyd still says he is the tuffest guy he ever faced, and would defeat a lot of world champions. Augustus at his best is a very exciting fighter to watch with a lot of heart. It is weird that he would do that in a fight, but since then I have never seen him lay down or even come close. He is a better fighter than Vivian Harris and has faced and beaten better competition, so he is more than worthy of replacing him.
cc...hulk and starr......i like seeing EA fight............ ;D

Who has he beaten that's so good? Jamie Rangel? Alex Trujillo? Come on homie, stop embarrassing yourself by saying he's beaten good competition. And the slot is to face Harris not replace him. As overrated as Harris is. He still murder's Augustus ass.

Well he had a very close fight I thought he won with Micky Ward, Courtney Burton and Sucra Ray Olivera as well. Plus many a good prospect but he just didn't get the decision. The guy got up from a killer Ward body shot, so he is not a quitter, and does not take dives anymore. Even the Bronx Bull Jake Lamotta took a dive when he was forced to. Name some good fighters Harris has beaten.
Re: Emanuel Augustus. Boxings biggest joke
That video made me sick.
That's really disappointing because I actually found him very entertaining in the Olivera fight.
I just can't forgive a fighter for doing that. I takes the esscence out of boxing and makes you worry about other guys doing it as well.

I agree essentially but it should be noted that those were the closing seconds of the 12th round, it was in Denmark, and 6 years ago.. I don't think he threw the fight really, he just couldn't win rounds and wanted to get it over with and not hear the decision is my guess. You have to assume he had some issue that night, because noone else has ever stopped him and he's fought alot of good fighters anywhere any place, and always comes to fight.

Exactly, he just decided to end the fight on his own because it was obvious he wasn't going to win so he didn't "throw" the fight ::**
And besides considering what he's done since then its irrelevant since he didn't throw that fight, he was already going to lose so he took an opportunity to end the fight on his own. So no he didn't "throw" the fight, and don't act like he's the first to end a fight that way.

Something is fishy about the whole thing. Your analyzing of the situation Is preposterous
He says to himself I am losing so I’ll just pretend to get knockout??? That the dumbest thing I have ever heard. If your losing on points your going to try an make the final bell. because you lose a decision not so bad, you lose getting knocked out , well not so good. , fighters that feel they are losing on the cards always try and make the final bell, at least the ones with heart and character. EA loses points on integrity with that performance, The truth be told , He is a tainted product and really should be black listed for that S*** !
Re: Emanuel Augustus. Boxings biggest joke
Really? So Alexis Arguello has no integrity for staying on the canvas in the rematch with Pryor because it was obvious to him that him that he wasn't going to win? ;)

I can't comment on Argrello- Pryor , can't remember the details of that fight, were talking about this EA fight . Now I know there were speculation that someone changed out Pryor's water bottle in the first fight, he became ill and was beat by Arguello .. its all speculation of course , but bad boxing press none the less. I am not saying this is the only bad guy on the block, I am saying it is wide spread and needs to be dealt with, the corruption in this sport , at all levels is why its listed as “other “when you go looking for news about boxing . the mainstream people have a bad taste because of the corruption, It's what is drowning this sport , most people see Pro Boxing like Pro Wrestling with a script an all. Fake, and I think that’s a god damn shame ! Someone needs to step in and police the sport of boxing . it’s the wild wild west.
Re: Emanuel Augustus. Boxings biggest joke
that was very years ago and what Augustus has done since then has made up for that.
Arguello lost both fights but in the first one they felt that Pryor was aided by the black bottle.
So they had a rematch
And Pryor was winning and he knocked Arguello down and Arguello sat on the canvas and could have gotten up but instead let the ref count him out.
I get what you're saying about the act of quitting in boxing but I still think that it would have been truly disgraceful if Augustus made that action his whole career but he didnt.. know what he's done since then. And that battle with Mickey Ward made up for "that" imo
Re: Emanuel Augustus. Boxings biggest joke
I agree, Augustus is fun to watch. its just after seeing this clip ,I got that garlic taste in my mouth, you know what I mean ! lol and your right about him not making a career of it, every time I have seen him fight, I was impressed.
I would like to see some tougher structure in the fabric of boxing, to help avoid and prosecute organized corruption in the sport. I think it would take off in the mainstream with some tough policing and oversight ! enjoyed the conversation !

I usually respect your POV but I really don't know man...that looked like a horrible acting job to me and there's just no friggin way that a fighter wouldn't rather lose on his feet than lose on the canvas.
Re: Emanuel Augustus. Boxings biggest joke
Like Gerald McClennan did?
