Good points.
Agreed. I enjoyed the fight...& am really interested in seeing how Baldo does down the road...but he's a plodder & a bit boring. His chin serves him well...but angles & true Welter power will stop him.
Gatti did catch him a few times to where it showed...but rarely.
Everyone has been :coolclick: ed & the latest installment of the DRBR is up & running.
Cheers bitches.

Hatton came up short against Collazo, mainly I believe because his style of fighting relies on over powering and out working his opponent. His nonstop pressure wasn't as effective because Collazo was bigger and stronger and simply couldn't be hurt in the way previous fighters had been. However I'm not sure that this was the sole reason for Hatton's poor performance, Collazo was also a southpaw and Ricky hates those. It was also his first fight at welter and maybe he was over confident, even looking forward to the next fight.
As far as Mayweather and Margarito however I think size isn't so important. Mayweather is a boxer not a brawler and will be relying on speed, accuracy and elusiveness to win that fight rather than pressure and power like Ricky Hatton.
Cory Spinks, who has no punch at strawweight let alone welterweight was able to step up to 154 and outpoint Karmazin in a close decision so the weight isn't necessarily the crucial factor.
For a fighter like Ricky Hatton, who is all about pressure and only has short stubby arms, pounds is a lot, but to a skilled, slick pugilist it's not so much of a big deal.
I honestly believe that Mayweather can defeat Baldo & Margo with angles & his speed.
I know Judah couldn't do it against Baldo...but Judah aint Floyd...even if everyone uses the excues that Judah could hang with Floyd for a handful of rounds...it's just a boat that won't float.
Smarts & angles eventually caught up with Judah from Floyd & Baldo's ability to persevere & not fade down the stretch against Zab or Gatti is what got the wins.
Baldo Mayweather or Baldo Margarito would be fun to watch...but I think that they both beat Baldo.

I said it all along, that Baldomir would wear Gatti down. I like Baldomir & think he deserves to be where he is... but Mayweather would destroy him. Lets not get carried away by Baldomir's win, it was over a guy who IMO is past his best days. By beating Gatti Baldomir showed he's a tough guy & that the win over Judah wasn't a fluke. But once he comes in against a top guy in their prime he's gonna lose his championship!!!

Probably true. I'm sure it is true. But let's let Baldomir soar as high as he can, and it is the responsibility of those he fights to define how high that is. At present, he is winning against known names. However you cut it, that counts for something.
Doesn't make him a great, but earns him the opportunity to step up and try.

You know what?
Good post. :coolclick:
I agree with you...more or less.
I'm very VERY interested in seeing how high Baldo can go. Truthfully...I see him as being one of these fighters that aint that great...but aint that bad either. I won't favor him...or ever become a fan due to the fact that I just don't like to watch him box...kinda like I viewed Gatti...but he does deserve respect & like you said...he has beaten two recognized names & holds to 147 titles & indeed that does count for something.

Agreed again...doesn't make him great beating the two recognized question marks that he did...but it will be fun to see who's next & what it will bring.
Honestly...I'd like to see him fight Hatton or Margarito before I'd rather see him fight Floyd.
Re: The forum is back up...so let's discuss Wacko's Drunken RBR Gatti vs Baldomir
I think Baldomir-Collazo would be a good matchup.

Agreed.
Collazo would outbox him, IWO.
I was really REALLY impressed with Collazo. Collazo's card is pretty empty right now...& I honestly think that it will be for quite sometime after what he did against Hatton.

Whoever said Baldomir dominated this fight is blinder than a bat. He maybe dominated round 3, but the rest of the rounds could have went either way. If gatti didn't hurt his wrist and would have held when he got hurt in the ninth, this fight would have went 12 rounds. What the hell is wrong with gatti? In such a close fight he doesn't even try to hold when he got hurt in the ninth. He took about 20 shots in a row because he refused to hold. What a stupid stupid move on Gatti's part. This fight was close up until the ninth round. Baldomir did not dominate by any means.

Ummmmmmmmm...he aint a Welterweight & Baldomir is & yes he did get dominated. Anyone who saw the fight & knows boxing knows that Baldomir had the upper hand & took everything that Gatti had at his disposal.
Baldomir did dominate him...the clue to that little revelation was the fact that he TKO'd him in 9 rounds.
Show me a man that is lying down on the canvas from a volley of punches & I show you a man that was just dominated.

The fact that the referee kept asking if he was alright between rounds was a pretty good indicator too ;)

Too true.

I totally agree, Baldomir deserves to be where is... I'm just saying lets not get carried away with his last two wins, lets put them in perspective. I've heard some people on this forum saying cause he beat Gatti, that now he can beat Mayweather & Hatton, 2 fighters that IMO are another league higher than Baldomir
Re: The forum is back up...so let's discuss Wacko's Drunken RBR Gatti vs Baldomi
Call me crazy but if i was in a close fight and took a shot that hurt me, the last thing i would do is hang my ass on the ropes and bounce up and down, while taking shots, with my hands down and not throwing many punches. I would be holding on until i regained my composure. What a terrible ending to a good fight. Rounds three and nine are the only rounds baldomir dominated, in my book. Gatti landed as many hard shots as baldomir, but baldomir never seemed hurt by them. Close fight, until the knockout.

I don't think he'd stay the full 12 against either of these two. Maybe against PBF if he (PBF) just stayed outside and pointed all night and didn't step in for the kill. But that would be PBF's choice and not Baldomir's skill. Hatton, he'd just swarm and go for the kill from round 1.

I can't see himgetting stopped by either, but I feel Mayweather would have the better chance of KOing Baldomir
