He is a prospect and talk of Lacy Calzaghe or Taylor is too soon for me.
KO of Codrignton was brutal though ;D
Seen it mate ;D
His ex sparring partner i believe who put him on his a** only for Green to get up and Murder him.
I think you give Lacy too much credit mate.
He's sh*t,and you'll never see him fight to his potential (if you can call it that) after what Calzaghe did to him.
It's very hard to come back from such a bad beating and few ever do mate ;)
Lacy will be fine True he did get by on his natural abilities Iron Chin and Helacious Power unfortunately that is all he needed in his fights....
Why are people so venemous to this kid is beyond me???? He is classy, in a sport full of thugs, Pricks, assholes and Flaming Idiots he has class is Humble and a good sportsman...
You can look at that fight and say he got his a** kicked, AND THAT IS AN UNDISPUTABLE FACT!!!! You forget that despite the beating he never stopped coming forward 3 min a round for 12 rounds and never quit or looked for a way out...He has the heart of a lion to go along with his power and chin...You dont learn those qualities you are born with them, however you can learn to be more defensive minded and Box to set up his power shots
The Boxers that never quite comeback from beating like that are the ones that think to highly of themselves and are Cocky and believe their own hype Like that QUITTER AND BABY PRINCE NAZEEM HAMED...Jeff didnt do any of that was always humble and mature....
Back to the original thread... Lacy KO'S Green easily...Donny McCrary KTFO Green but Green was Eatin up that homecookin they were serving in his back yard My Mothers China Closet is Sturdier than Allen Green's chin.. Lacy by round 5 Lacy can take Green's shots, Green cant take Lacy's
cc....lacy is a good kid.....
Re: Allan Green-Your views please
Ok...so I'm not one to do this and these aren't neccisarily my views on Allan Green but since the Lacy-Green fight is being talked about...here is what I think of it.
A few thoughts on this one from someone who is a fan of both but Lacy moreso then Green.
1. Lacy doesn't have any confidence issues. I don't think we'll see anybody other then the fire breathing super middleweight that had all of us picking Lacy KO against Calzaghe. Why do I think this? Well look at his opponent. He takes a beating of Tex Cobb-Larry Holmes proportions and comes back and takes on the hottest guy in the whole division, a guy who Calzaghe was entertaining for his next fight. Doesn't exactly sound like the pick of a broken fighter does it? I mean it's not like he's marching into unchared territories. Fighters have lost....even choked before Lips Sealed He has a real strong camp behind them and they won't let him wilt under this pressure. He's way to valuable to them. So that's my first thought. He's worked with the best people in the business after this loss and I don't have many worries about his mental makeup. He'll be fine and I think the Green pick is a testament to that.
2. The fight is going to be won at whatever distance they fight at. Green is faced with the task of keeping Lacy on the outside and scoring with the big 1,2. No one has been able to keep Lacy outside as of yet. He kind of has a dumbed down peek a boo style with a lot of side to side head movement that has let him slip straight jabs and rights in the past to let him get inside. So how do you keep him on the outside? It's something no one has done yet so it'll be interesting to see how Green handles this daunting task. If the fight goes on the inside then it is Lacy's fight to lose.
3. Lacy won't be KO'd. He's been hit with nearly 100 punches a round from a fairly hardhitting champion. The guy has one of the better chins in boxing and Green is going to have to be smart for 12 rounds without ever getting caught on the inside. Does Green have the smarts and the experience to do this? Does he even have the ability to stay safe for 12 rounds while still winning? That'll be interesting to see. But Green is going to have to be virtually perfect fight because Lacy won't be squandering any oppurtunities imo.
4. Great fight. Great fight for fans. We have a guy who is making his first BIG step up while another is looking to get right back on the map with a victory over the division's hottest prospect. The buzz surrounding this fight is going to be incredible. And we got one giddy Lacy fan over here.
Re: Allan Green-Your views please
And Smash, you're discrediting Calzaghe's victory talking about Lacy like that. Listen, as someone who has seen every single professional fight of Jeff Lacy, I can say that Jeff Lacy CHOKED when faced with adversity. Not taking credit away from Calzaghe becuase he brought that adversity but no way do I think that fight should have been such a blowout. He was exposed against a slick fighter with a good jab and quick movement? Mate most of the time Calzaghe was just bullrushing and dominating on the inside. He beat Lacy at his own game. No way should that have happened. It wasn't him fighting at his potential, it was a shell of Lacy. Green is in NO way a world beater. He doesn't cut it against any of the elite comp out there imo, even Kessler ;) Give him time and he will but he isn't equipped to fight an inside fighter yet. And I don't think he is good enough on the outside to keep Lacy outside. Beat Taylor? Taylor gave Hopkins two of his toughest fights ever, and imo came out with 1-1. Then he came out with a near victory against Wright. Meanwhile Green KO'd a 9-0 guy, almost lost to some guy named Donnie ???, and beat the #1 Daddy. Not exactly a world beater.
Re: Allan Green-Your views please
JT you just got CC'd. Spot on ;)

What? No you shouldn't. If he was fighting someone like Lacy or Calzaghe then you disregard the knockdown. When he gets his clock cleaned by Donnie FOOKEN McCrary then you look at the fact that he got his clock cleaned. You disregard the fact that he got up and did what he was supposed to do 5 rounds earlier.

You got it bro, Green has a lot of talent but you gotta question his chin & focus after the McCrary fight.
Re: Allan Green-Your views please
I wouldnt be so concerned about his focus. Needless to say he wouldnt be so loose against a bigger name, but the punch resistance does concern. Its ok to say anyone can get caught and hurt, but that guy had no power and the shot wasnt executed well, it was a decent thump and no more.

Your right bro, I just think he was to cocky, but he always seem to fight that way, with his hands down & all. That's where I question his focus, I hope he learns from that knock down.

Allen was complaisant against peter pan, but I don’t think it will happen again . He learned a valuable lesson without losing the fight. experiance is one hell of a teacher !
