Randall, has no one told you that you put your text after the [/quote] and not before it? ;)
I'd like to see him come back. Maybe with a couple of warm up fights he could challenge again. He's a world ahead of Rahman,Valuev and co.
If anyone thinks, that lewis could beat vitali Your nuts!....
Because of a busted eye? Vitali was ahead on all scorecards, yea he took shots, but he took lewis's ALL, and was still there, still coming forward, still throwin the mits out. Look how pissed he was when they stopped that fight...and then, the man who won, instead of telling people..."Hey i beat him, and ill show you , ill beat him again." he says "HEY!, ummm errr I RETIRE!....
Lewis knew that to continue in the HW division, he would have to go through Vitali, and he wanted no part of it! So if lewis knew he couldnt beat him, YOU SHOULD TOO. lol
it doesnt matter if he was ahead lewis won u really think vitali should gone on and had hes face messed up he would of been scarred for life lewis didnt have that much of training did he ?? and still won so if he would of had proper training he would of koed vitali late lewis was starting to comeback aswell vitali was only ahead by 2 rounds
Ok, im not sayin his eye was messed up, But Klitchko was on the pace to KO lewis
Not the other way around. Its funny, its like the cut over the eye of Vitaly totally discredits the fact that he was winning the fight, throwing more punches, and lewis punch count was decreasing every round.
heres the round by round for you from COMPU BOX.
Ill trust them over anyone.
FIRST:
(THIS IS ALL FROM COMPUBOX!)
Klitschko, filling in for the injured Kirk Johnson, led 58-56 on all three cards through six rounds.
SECOND
He turned up the heat vs. Lennox, averaging 72 punches per round and 40 jabs per round (the heavyweight average is 46 total punches per round and 19 jabs per round)
THIRD
He effectively took away Lewis jab, as Lennox averaged just 20 jabs per round
FOURTH
CompuBox stats show that when Lewis throws less than 25-30 jabs per round (he threw 19 per round in the first Rahman fight and 28 per round in the rematch) he's very beatable.
FIFTH
Lewis, throwing just 37 TOTAL PUNCHES per round (remember Vitali threw 40 JABS per round)
SIXTH
Vitali, a 5-1 'dog, landed 155 punches in six rounds and was on a pace to land over 300 punches vs. Lewis. The previous high landed vs. Lewis was 223, by Ray Mercer in May of '96
ALSO, whoopie doooo, lewis wasnt in shape? yea...ill give you that,
BUT, IF you remember (you might not, cuz you might still be thinking about the eye). But Vitali was a last minute fill in for kirk johnson.
i think like 2 weeks notice. And he was on the road to BEAT lewis.
Lewis Survived that fight, he knew it... Its why he wont put gloves on again.
well if i was him i would think to myself it was hard fight but i won im getting older my skills arent what they once were so ill retire as champion and my legacy still intact along with loads of money and i havent got any serious injuries so if i was him i wouldnt risk it again
Agreed, I think Lewis was always a calculating and reasonably bright guy - I don't think we will see him in a serious boxing match again.Quote:

So do i fight again?
I understand that..
but my answer to that question is
"NO i wont fight again, because, I'll LOSE"
thats all, im not trying to say he didnt win, not trying to say it wasnt a smart move to retire with a belt. But i dont think he retired thinking that if he stuck around the heavyweight division he could still dominate.
But were all agreed a prime Lewis wipes the floor with all comers at the moment right?
And on the matter of Vitali. All that was was Lewis on an awful night and Vitali on a great night, and Vitali still couldnt win. And before I hear it was cuts, when someones face is fwocked that bad, its still a legit win.
your face can get FWOCKED in one punch...cmon now...
Dont forget vitali had 11 days to prep for that fight, dont say he was at his best
Both Lewis and Vitali were in training to fight on that bill against different opponents .Quote:

I am not sure if he would dominate he must fight his age, but I think he is better than anybody out there. I just wouldn't want to see him lose to any of them, because he was past his prime. He got out at a good time. RJJ could have learned a thing or two.Quote:

LEWIS RETIRED BECAUSE HE KNEW HE COULDNT BEAT VITALI
you wanna end your career on a flop? wheres the legacy in that,
RUNNIN? ::**
I'm not sure about that, Big_Deuce.
Lennox Lewis, like him or loath him, was a professional boxer, Olympic Gold medallist, world heavyweight championship and the dominant fighter on the planet at the time.
A fighter like that does not retire because they are scared of getting beat - they have dealt with that every fight they ever had. These are super-competitive people, they win things and are not frightened of anybody in the world.
Lewis will think he could have beaten Vitali when he was 90. Vitali will think he could have beaten Lewis when he was 90.
Anybody who steps into a boxing ring, especially professionally when your mortgage and food bills come from how you do, is a brave man (or woman). Fear of losing and/or cowardice are charges that may be aimed at fighters the least!!!
Oh, and I am not a Lewis fan, either.
