Re: Just another one of Wacko's Drunken Round by Rounds Corrales vs Casamayor III
I just feel in my heart of hearts that despite the 1st 2 fights.....Coralles is gonna walk right thru Casamayor
Re: Just another one of Wacko's Drunken Round by Rounds Corrales vs Casamayor III
I agree. Not a walk through though.
But I think Casamayor isn't shot. But he aint the same. I don't care how messed up Corrales is, he still can afford to be shot to beat Casamayor. But Casamayor can't afford that mistake, the things he could do years ago that allowed him to beat Corrales is no longer apparent. And Corrales will show that.
Re: Wacko's Drunken Round by Round Corrales Casamayor III & Valuev Barrett
That being said...it's time for another shot in the arm courtesy of a double does of the sauce!
Saturday night...across the wires & on the other network wer'e gonna try to squeeze in on Nikolay Valuev (44 wins with 32 ko's) as he finally makes it back to the states to defend his title against Monte Barrett (31 wins, 4 losses, & 17 ko's) at the Allstate Arena in Illinois.
This fight, for sure, would silence a few critics of the big guy...that is...if he can blaze through Barrett like he has so many others.
Size is surely to be a factor, seeing that Valuev outweighed Monte by 100lbs at the weight in...but Barrett can actually box...when he comes prepared. So it could lean in his favor also. Doubtful though. Valuev can also box, believe that or not, & lately he's been putting his punches together a hell of a lot better than most will give him credit for.
Truthfully...I think that this thing can only go one of two or three ways:
#1: Valuev can be beaten on the inside. The thing here will be whether or not Barrett can keep the action in close quarters. Nullify Valuev's reach & he's fwocked.
#2: Valuev is devastating in the middle of the ring. Try to outmustle him & stay on the outside...well...then Barrett's fwocked.
#3: If I aint mistaken...King owns stock in both of these fighters...or atleast he did have a stake in Barrett a little while ago. I know that he's got a peice of Valuev, for sure. The worst outcome? A stinker decision in the big guy's favor. An unconvincing win will just give everyone else yet another reason to lowball the big guy.
There again, if Valuev doesn't stop Barrett...people will just continue to rip him up.
Personally...I'm hoping that Barrett tests Valuev & then get's smoked. That's the way I'm leaning also: Valuev by TKO.
I'll also most likely be covering the Briggs Adamek undercard match on HBO. I won't have a splitter or two telee's...but I think that I can get both fights at the same time...
We shall see.
Re: Wacko's Drunken Round by Round Corrales Casamayor III & Valuev Barrett
Fantastic read Wacko ! Damn you can put the words together so articulate. i am envious. My limited vocabulary coupled with my Chicken pickin one finger at a time keyboard skills ,don't allow me to express my thoughts in such a manor ! Cool Click for the read ! :D
Re: Wacko's Drunken Round by Round Corrales Casamayor III & Valuev Barrett
:coolclick: for the hard work wacko, especially glad you're doing Valuev's fight because for me it is one of the most interesting ones of the weekend. For me this is the one which shows whether Valuev truly has the makings of a World Champion (I'm afraid beating Ruiz doesn't convince me) and he needs to really shw his colours and trounce Barrett. I'll be there with ya wack.
Re: Wacko's Drunken Round by Round Corrales Casamayor III & Valuev Barrett
This has to be a three RBR Wacko.  Because the SHOBOX Supper Middleweight Tournament is tonight.
Is that rbr covered?

Henry Buchanan 166, Jean Paul Mendy 165
LaFarrell Bunting 167, Anthony Hanshaw 166
October 6, 2006
One match-up features former roommates who used to spar together, while the other pits undefeated fighters from different sides of the globe. What all four fighters have in common, however, is a goal to reach the top of the super middleweight division. That journey will continue when SHOWTIME televises the semi-finals of the “ShoBox: The New Generation” super middleweight tournament on Friday, Oct. 6, as part of a FREE PREVIEW WEEKEND.
The SHOWTIME broadcast from the Chumash Casino Resort in Santa Ynez, Calif., will open with American Henry Buchanan (14-0, 11 KOs) of Capital Heights, Md., squaring off against France’s Jean Paul Mendy (22-0, 12 KOs). The second bout of the evening will pit LaFarrell Bunting (16-1-1, 16 KOs) of Las Vegas, Nev., against former sparring partner Tony Hanshaw (20-0, 13 KOs) of Warren, Ohio.
The winners of the two 10-round bouts on SHOWTIME (11 p.m. ET/PT, delayed on the west coast) will advance to the Jan. 5, 2007, final. The last man standing will walk away with the International Boxing Organization (IBO) 168-pound title and will be one big step closer to a top world ranking. Gary Shaw Productions, LLC, is promoting the event, which also offers two boxers from the original field of eight the rare opportunity to appear on national television three times in only six months.
HENRY BUCHANAN (14-0, 11 KOs) 166 pounds
“I have never fought a southpaw in the pros. There have been times in the amateurs where I didn’t know my opponent was a southpaw until after the fight. It can be annoying to fight a lefty....Mendy is strong and looks to throw some hard punches, but I don’t know a lot about him. Mendy’s physique is immaculate. He is nervous. He hasn’t seen anything yet....I am a boxer. I can figure out anybody in the ring. I am a deceitful and deceptive fighter.....Losing is not an option. I will figure out something. I can do it all.....It is going to be a hard fight, but it is what I am made of on the inside. If I am made of crap, it will show tomorrow night. If I have what it takes, than I will stand the test of time.....I am fighting for survival. I am fighting for my life.....I am going to be tossing and turning all night long. Mendy wants to hurt me.”
JEAN PAUL MENDY (22-0, 12 KOs) 165 pounds
“Buchanan always moves and uses his jab. I plan to attack, but I can dance and move if I have to. I am always aggressive.....I like small boxing rings. It is an advantage for me to have this 17-foot ring.....Bunting is a good boxer, but is very slow. Hanshaw has speed and good movement. If their fight goes the distance, Hanshaw will win. Hanshaw is a good boxer, but he can’t take a punch.”
LAFARRELL BUNTING (16-1-1, 16 KOs) 167 pounds
“Last time, Hanshaw did not acknowledge me at all. It was poor sportsmanship. He was like, ‘what the hell is he doing here?’.....Hanshaw is going to try to be tough. He cannot afford to get caught because I will knock him out. I was 50, maybe 60 percent for my last fight.” DANNY SMITH (BUNTING’S TRAINER): “The more of a fight it becomes and the less of a boxing match the better.”
ANTHONY HANSHAW (20-0, 13 KOs) 166 pounds
“Bunting and I used to live together in Mansfield, Ohio. We used to spar, but I don’t remember it....I can box like Muhammad Ali if I want to.....Bunting started off slow in the last fight, than he finally picked it up. He has not fought anybody. I have fought some good fighters.....I hurt my hand in the second round of my last fight and it hurt like hell. I had him (Esteban Camou) out in the ninth round, but I had to back off because of my hand.”
Re: Wacko's Drunken Round by Round Corrales Casamayor III & Valuev Barrett
TY your maj....much appreciated. Have a cc for luck. Sounds like a good couple of fights, and not really in the contender mould, rather a prett serious little tourney going on. While I'm probably going to hit the sack soon, I hope someone can bring their generosity to bear and deliver a RBR on this baby. Anyone know what time this one is likely to get under way. If my mind is right, it's around8.30 pm right now on the east coast, so it's a matter of when things get under way.

Sorry mate....I thought you said the wife was getting some of last night...it seems to me more like it was the bottle of rum which got last night. That is the typed version of what my conversations last night at 2am when I'm looking to find another bar that's still open! :p
