Remember Kosta had only fought 3 times in 3 and a half years, and was 35 years old. Great performance by Ricky but Castillo will be a harder test in my opinion.

You have to give Hatton more respect than that.

Jermain Taylor is a Perfect example, he dealt with an OLD champion who wasn't
active, by the name of Bernard Hopkins. By all the facts on record, Taylor
should have embarrased Hopkins much like Hatton did to the future Hall of Famer
Kostya. Now I'm not saying Kostya is as good or great as Hopkins, I'm just
saying that age and activity can take a back seat when your still winning
and fighting successfully. Even though Kostya lost, he still fought a competitive
fight and his punching power was still present. No one still has been able
to embarrass Sharmba Mitchell as badly as Tszyu has.

But both Bernard and Kostya have on thing in common, they both eat right,
don't party, and stick to a strict, disciplined, and rough training schedule.

You just can't ignore Hatton's win over Kostya, as an elite performance.

I hate to play devil's advocate, but was Vince Phillips win over KOsta an elite performance?? Even if so, did he turn out to be an elite fighter? I think it had a whole lot to do with styles as well, KOsta was excellent vs boxers who like to move and fight from the outside, but he wasn't nearly as effective against brawlers. THat's why I think Hatton still has yet to prove that he is elite, just as Vince Phillips didn't.

Out of his mouth, more like it, when he repeatedly cheated by spitting out his mouthpiece to extend the count, grab time and avoid the KO. I can't stand by what Castillo did the second and third times w/r/t weight, but I also find it very hard to sympathize with Corrales because he definitely should have been DQ'd in the first fight. Had Corrales not cheated, there was absolutely no way he would have avoided getting KTFO.

Definitely take Castillo over Hatton and Harris.

But there is a difference to cheating at the moment AND
having a camp and not preparing for 3 weeks purposely not make weight.

One is at the moment, the other is planned.

Hell I would have done the same thing to not get KTFO! haha

140 aint nothing its a shit devision now! usta be good but it wont take a big man to dominate it! hatton shouldnt go down to 140 and i really cant see castillo dominating 147.if he had one mega fight i really could see him getting beaten.

this is a very bad matchup for hatton, stylistically, and jlc is a bad man.

rickys a good guy and a great fighter, but this is one fight that i feel is going to make him look pretty bad :-\

So you basing your opinion on Castillos 'best' performance which was at a lower weight and on Hattons worst performance of his career which was at a higher weight than he always fights at??

Seems crazy to me to only base it on them fights. Hatton is an animal at 140lb and although he seems to have stopped using his boxing skills since the kostya fight, that dosent mean he doesnt posses them anymore.

If hatton has the full 12 weeks to prepare and goes back to using his skills as well as his marauding style i cant see anybody beating him at 140lb.
