Sure beating Mayorga was cool, but I don't think anyone really cared afterwards. If he truly is talking about fighting the best for his retirement then he should only be fighting either Floyd Mayweather or Winky Wright. I'm tired of people confusing ODLH's mass fan appeal with his actual boxing prowess. I think even he is a little delusional. This guy has the nerve to say that he didn't think that the entire PBF card was worth the money. Well, I paid for the fight and while I thought the last half of the PBF-Baldy fight was uneventful, I thought the fight was worth the money. Isn't ODLH the same guy that made a fight with Yory Boy Campas a pay-per-view. He's a F****** hypocrite. Now he's saying that he doesn't want the PBF fight anymore. What the F*** is that? He's afraid of getting thrown in the garbage like Baldomir did. If he doesn't wanna to get embarrassed in his swan song, that's fine, but he shouldn't patronize the public by telling us all that he wants to fight the best. Yeah right, ODLH isn't the best, and he has proven throughout his career that when it's time to step up his game, he fails. He lost against Sugar Shane twice, he lost against Trinidad because he ran like a baby (he even said he regrets it), he got put out by B-Hop, he got a gift decision against Sturm, Quartey, and Whitaker, and he beat a Trinidad-shot Vargas, and a washed up JCC. Who has this guy ever beat? I'm sorry if this seemed like an unfocused rant, but it was, I just had to say something about this fag.
get the F*** outta here
Great analysis you dumbass.
how can you call me a dumbass after writing this bullshit topic.
Re: I'm sorry but ODLH is garbage!!!
Ask yourself this: who is Floyd's toughest opponent to date?
answer: Baldomir?
at 147 Oscar would of destroyed the slow light punch Baldomir, all Floyd did was pot shot and break his hand.
Re: I'm sorry but ODLH is garbage!!!
don't try and come at PBF

How can you tell me to get the fuck outta here after me just stating my opinion? Usually, when you disagree with an opinion you have a counter opinion, that's how a debate works. Or you could just not saying anything at all if you don't have anything useful to add, that works too.
Re: I'm sorry but ODLH is garbage!!!
I just think he should take more risks, that's all. People talk the same shit about RJJ but the difference is RJJ fought greats like: Hopkins and Toney and he tested himself going UP to heavyweight winning a title, going down to light heavyweight and winning AGAIN.
Floyd has to do somethign special, we all know he's a special fighter, I just want him to do something special
Re: I'm sorry but ODLH is garbage!!!
here's the question I keep asking you but get no answer to
In his prime and his hay day. Who could he have fought that he didn't? If you can name me a great fighter in Oscar's hay day that he DIDN'T fight then I'll say he didnt fight anybody. until then, credit Oscar with his era and wins rather then discredit it because the era didnt spit out 10 leonards for him to fight.

Oscar is a naturally bigger man than Mayweather. 147 to Mayweather is probably equivilent to 154 for Oscar.
People seem to forget Floyd is only a little guy, a natural lightweight probably.
It annoys me when people say Suger Ray Leonard would have beaten him as well, again Leonard was a much bigger man.
By the way at 135 or 140 Floyd does beat both De La Hoya and Leonard.

Winky Wright, I told you earlier.
Re: I'm sorry but ODLH is garbage!!!
oscar IMO is a great fighter. whether or not you think he deserve to win the fights you mention is irrelevant because he won. he gave all those guys a great fight.

I agree with you, De La Hoya was a great fighter but it cannot be ignored that of all the elite fighters he fought who were in their prime he either lost, or should have lost.
Hopkins,
Mosely twice,
Trinidad,
Quartey
Whittaker
Sturm.
So his best performances were against Vargas, Gatti and Chavez who could all be summed up in three words, shot, shit and shot ;)

Well he never fought Forrest either and as I said above, the great ones that he did fight he either lost to, or deserved to have lost to.
I don't think De La Hoya is all that great to be honest. The original poster is correct in saying that the Goldenboy is to at least some degree a product of hype and marketing, just in the same way Tyson was, although the projected image is different.
Oh and cc returned :P

Jesus Christ!!! I mean, I will spell it out again for you again. I NEVER SAID OSCAR HAS NEVER FOUGHT ANYONE!!! I said that Oscar has never really beat anyone. There's a difference.
Re: I'm sorry but ODLH is garbage!!!
if Vargas was shot why was he favored to give Oscar the roughest toughest fight of his career? Why was Chavez considered a "significant step up" And Gatti considered a "dangerous threat" At the current Oscar was fighting them they weren't seen that way, only in hindsight are they called that ;)
Re: I'm sorry but ODLH is garbage!!!
He beat Shane in the rematch IMO.....and if you're just looking at the actual record then he beat Sturm and Quartey and Whittaker.
De la Hoya is a Great fighter....you don't have to WIN against all of the greats you just have to at least fight them
