Agreed...Floyd's got better reflexes & he's a helluvah lot faster.
I truly believe that Cotto don't want none of Mayweather. I always have thought that & I always will...the problem is...as with a lot of these recent matches...I have to pick between two of my favorites...& that's a tuffy...but I still pick Floyd on this one.
Hands up or down.
CC Wack, Ive already given you one today but in 24... It's kind of pathetic how noone even considers that Cotto/Arum don't want anything to do with Mayweather anytime soon, instead its "Floyd would never have the balls to face Cotto".... What a pile of shit... Miguel is the one who's under Bob Arum, and why the hell would he want his best rising star to fight the man who he hates, who left him... It's such BS... Mayweather would easily outbox Cotto imo, it's the kind of fight wherre there is no basis to be made upon previous opponents, because Cotto hasn't fought anyone who is hallf the boxer Floyd is, and I mean that literally.
Re: Cotto vs Mayweather (discuss)
Obviously Cotto could only win by KO and I just cant see Floyd getting caught by too many of his big shots, plus cotto would seriously get tired later in the later rounds, the only chance he has of beating Floyd is a KO before round 5 IMO
Re: Cotto vs Mayweather (discuss)
Tough one - very good opinions so far from everybody.
It would seem that everyone considers Floyd the best - but that given the right set of circumstances, Cotto could prevail...
I know we talk about how Malignaggi 'is no Floyd' - but how would them 2 go at each other, PM V PBF? ? Paulie albeit lacking in power, is certainly game enough and with good speed and combo's? sure i see Floyd taking the lion's share of the rounds off him, but Paulie would still be there at the 12th.
Now, Floyd against Cotto would be case of 'can Cotto handle a jab landing in his face all night long & everytime he gets close to unload, Floyd has gone?' - would Cotto snap with frustration? IMO Cotto is one of the most patient fighters around and patience could be the key.
I think if Cotto bid his time throughout the first 2 or 3 rounds whilst getting Floyd to expend energy and conserved himself for an all-out assault from round 6 onwards, he could score a brutal KO - as Cotto carries more weaponary than Castillo who also pressed the action.
He would have to sucker Floyd in to believing what was in front of him 'was not all that' for a few rounds and hope that Floyd goes through his bag of tricks - then jump on him from all angles.
But, credit to Floyd, the truth & reality is i see Floyd taking round after round after round until he's won by points.
The only thing that could change things, is if Cotto can suddenly throw 50% more leather at 147 and up his work rate, instead of fighting in bursts.

I think that basically sums the fight up mate, I just dont think Cotto can handle that kind of sustained punishment, Floyd would land all night long and Cotto isnt that hard to hit. And if you're not hard to hit being in the ring with mayweather really is entirely wrong place to be..I think floyd would stop Cotto, more through exhaustion than a flat out KO

I will never doubt of Cotto Again even if he faces PBF .P. Williamd no matter who of course I wanted for Cotto to win but I did have my doubts, but DAAAAMNN if he is the mean in 147 I see Cotto killing Williams and of course Margarito. I say Williams can cause and upset against Margarito.
I want Judah - Cotto

I agree. O0
Re: Cotto vs Mayweather (discuss)
i give it to cotto hands down. mayweather will not be able to handle the power of cotto. i want to see this fight real soon cus i give it to the 6th round for cotto to bury mayweather. his gladiator outfit might have helped him againist the slow carlos, but not cotto. hes looking good in the 147 class so all i have to say goodnight mayweather.

:coolclick: right back & I totally agree 100%! Arum will not try to make this match...legitly for real...he might talk the talk & get them to walk the walk...but when it comes down to the last step...he'd pull out his guy...somehow...injury or some shit.
Sorry about ht e Typing errors people. I'm a bit lit up intoxicated. Went out with the wife & her boss & about 12 other fine women. The wife manages a salon for this rich cat...took us all to Kanpai Japaneses steak house & through his own generosity stupidity...allowed us to eat & drink on him.
He wanted to cut me off at about the 4th bottle of sake but I lyingly convinced him that the four glasses were for the entire side of me table. Needless to say...he was duped into paying me bill & I got a shitload of premium left overs...Filet & Lobster, Riice, vegeatbles, & loads of luiqior.
...and as the late Great Rick James might say...or the currnet comedy chap might scream: "Cocaine is a hell of a drug...they should nevah gave you nigga's money!"
Or maybe more suitable for a moderator...this Chapelletirade comes to minde : "Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa-I'm rich bitch!!!"
Re: Cotto vs Mayweather (discuss)
Tough fight. Cotto will need to work on his defence a bit, but he has enough power to make Floyd a little worried.
I would say Cotto by late KO as this was what I had in my first few posts and I want to try and stick with it.
Re: Cotto vs Mayweather (discuss)
After watching his fight with Quintana, I must admit Cotto has a great chance against PBF.
Re: Cotto vs Mayweather (discuss)
damn how the fuck will cotto beat mayweather??? haha yeah if mayweather stands there and trade....but what are the chances of that ever happening??? come on guys..... :lickish:
Re: Cotto vs Mayweather (discuss)
PBF is no Malinagi but Cotto aint no Gatti or Baldi either. Cotto can cut the ring off much better and hits much harder than the other two. Cotto also knows how and when to sneak good punches in there. Cotto wins this one in devastating fashion.

It would be nice to see PBF fight one of the better fighters at 147 wouldn't it?> One thing is for certain,if Cotto could get him in a smaller ring so as to prevent it being a track meet,he would go to the body like no other PBF opponent who all just follow him around like mindless zombies, head hunting(except JLC firs time around). It would be PBF's toughest fight, having seen Cotto at 147,I say that with some confidence.

I honestly thought that the Quintana fight was way too dangerous a fight and wasn't sure if it was a good move but I didn't think Cotto would be that much faster, stronger or active and aggressive. It was clear that Carlos felt the power early and didn't want any part of it.I don't know if you saw Arums interview in the post fight conference when he said Cotto would badly hurt PBF and DLH. I know he's biased but it's good to know he feels that way cause now we know he won't hesitate to make those type of fights.
