I watched the fight and must tell you that Ramirez did not deserve to win. This is because he had a bad haircut.Quote:

Totally different. As though Chavez were sparring. Kevin Rooney did the HBO fight that night and he was terrible. Saying it was a great fight. The fight was like a sparring session with Ramirez trying and Chavez just winning rounds not trying to knock out Ramirez. I could be wrong but I know boxing and Chavez was not the same rough guy he was in other fights.. Look how he destroyed Rosario.
Kinda like Barrera-v-Peden then?
Anyone who has Chavez vs. Ramirez, watch the fight and try not to get annoyed with Kevin Rooney talking nonsense and you will see how Chavez just was not trying totally in this fight. He sort of kept Ramirez respectful and was totally outclassing Ramirez.. I dont think they fought this way as a set up, I just think Chavez must really have liked Ramirez as a friend and didn't want to hurt him. Then look at how Chavez fights Haugen.
Yeah I have both of those fight's and I agree he wasn't fighting with the usual agression he usually showedQuote:

Why does everyone bring up the supposed Hagler-Leonard 'robbery'(although i thort Leonard won it) when talking about Leonard's greatness when the fact Chavez-Whitaker which was a MUCH worse robbery is never brought up?
I go with Ray he had the better chin and was a better boxer...Chavez though he had a ton more fights many were against TJ cab drivers...Good fight IMO Ray wins by dec
i like ray better and think he has fought better opps but im sorry mate chavez had better chin than leonardQuote:

I agree, Leonard had a very good chin, no doubt, but if we're talking chin's then I would say Chavez had a better chin. Leonard's style of fighting mean't his chin wasn't exposed as much as Chavez's.
Got to be careful what you say here, remember the fight Chavez had against Haugen in the Azteca Stadium, prior to the fight Haugen said the same thing, that Chavez had simply fought "cab drivers" so Chavez unleashed a severe beating on Haugen, and after the fight during the interviews Chavez said to Haugen something along the lines of, " all those cab drivers I fought, they must have been tough yeh" and Haugen apologised to Chavez and lifted Chavez's right hand in the air!Quote:

Everything about Chavez is overrated, including his chin. You can count on one hand the number of legit opponents he fought, and most of those fingers end up being guys who beat him.
I am not sure. Chavez does not have the wins or ring resume Ray did with the top notch. I mean Ray fought 4 hall of fame fighters within 7 fights or so. Duran,Hearns,Hagler,Benitez. The thing about Chavez was not his wins vs. the top guys but that he destroyed guys who normally were pretty tough. Haugen was tough and Chavez beat him easy. Remember that right hand in round one. He comes over easily and rocked Haugen and then knocks him down with the second. Then he beats up Haugen for 5 more rounds. Then Dupliesis.. I think I spelled that wrong. He beat Duplesis easy. Yeah other guys beat Duplesis, but he beat him like it was nothing, Chavez probably cannot go down as good as Ray, but he was dominant.
Come on Leonard haters answer me this!Quote:
