Hopkins stops Calzaghe? That's nonsense. I wouldn't be surprisd if Joe stopped him though.
No one has ever legitamately stopped Hopkins...I love Joe & all that...but let's be realistic.
Seriously, I don't see that happening cause Hopkins never exposes his chin but you know a little smack talk never hurt anyone. I still think Joe wins that fight though.
Start that back peddling
KER-CHING!!!! :coolclick:
As much as I like Joe & as fast as he is & all that...he'd be in for a rude awakening against Bernard. As far as back pedalling goes...I go back & forth a bit myself. Hopkins dropping the weight...getting reset at 160-168...would it affect him? Not sure...but I don't think that it would.
Hopkins knows his body & treats it as a temple...it's paid off for him for years.
Plus...Calzaghe aint going to be throwing 1200 punches at an open barnyard door like Lacy...he'll be trying to get into peep holes agianst Hopkins.
Also...people forget Hopkins's ability to crack. He's hammered out plenty of men & recently he dropped Tarver & had Taylor on queer street.
Hopkins is no walk in the park.
I agree with you Wack. And I would cc you, but that'll defeat the purpose of the sc I gave you earlier on. Calzaghe ain't knocking Hopkins out. Calzaghe ain't beating Hopkins. And one thing I'm wondering about is why everybody saying Lacy got a iron jaw? Since when? He was stun in his last fight. It looked like he almost went down. Omar Sheika wobbled him. And even Rubin Wlliams shook him and backed him up. So where's the iron at?
also tsypko(sp?) made him weak at the knees,
i don't think calzaghe has the power anymore to KO, MAYBE 5 years ago he had the power, but to many hand brakes and what nots have taken their tole. good point by wacko is how hopkins cin isnt going to be there to land any KO shots on either, i think calzaghe can and will sto hopkins late tho, but pure KO? i doubt that.
btw, in the lacy fight, there was like 2-3 times if i remeber right where lacy looked primed to get ko'd but the ref stopping it for the glove tape ot be cut, and i tink a gumshiled not in? was a couple times where lacy looked ready to go and got lucky brakes if i remeber right

:coolclick: Good points...but I kinda agree to disagree.
Here's why: Calzaghe still has the power to produce knockouts, IWO. Maybe not the one punch concussive bombs of yesteryear...but he's still got it. As goofy as this is going to sound...I think that Calzaghe is much like Floyd in the fact that he is an accumulative puncher. Shot after shot after shot on the button & with such speed...one can't help but get dropped.
Now...here comes the disagreeing whole heartedly part. Hopkins has never been stopped & he has been in there with some hard punching middles & light middles. Joe won't be able to accuarately hit Bernard...a knockout aint coming.
Then again...I aint preaching from a pulpit with a crystal ball plugging my poop-chute either...this is boxing...anything can & will happen...but I just don't see Hopkins counting lightbulbs for the 12 count.

thats fair enough and ill give respect to that; but the reason i think calzaghe can stop him is downto the fact hopkins is or would be like 42, 43? sure he looks in awsome shape, but we know how high temp calzaghe fights, we know he can land over 1k punches in a fight and not look tired (not saying he will connect with hopkins, but as an example of his fittnes) its been a very long time since hopkins has fought sum1 as fit, fast and strong as calzaghe +the better guy hes fighting the better joe always does.

Yep...& I'll agree with that.
Volume appears to be the key against Hopkins...but his last outting...he was totally on point...but it's as hard to make a case with Tarver as it is to make one with Lacy.
Know what I mean?
I'll say this...if Hopkins comes correct as he did against Tarver & Calzaghe comes correct as he did against Lacy...it'll be one hell of a nail biter.
No shit.

Not backpedaling homeboy. If anybody has the chance for a ko, it ain't Hopkins. Hopkins doesn't even look where he is punching alot of the time like his face is too cute to ruin or something. He constantly comes in lunging forward with his head. Learn boxing doggie.
