You know...I just can't make the switch. Never have liked MMA or the likes of it. I don't buy into any of the arguments about it being as disciplined as boxing or as skill filled...I just fucking hate it.
Nothing but blood, guts, headbutts, & lots of manhugging...therefor...a violent run in with John Ruiz.

As long as boxing is strong, I'll continue to enjoy MMA, but it'll never come close. Believe it or not there is a science to it, but its nothing like as sweet.

While we're on the topic of boxing, why did Ali show more sense than many of his countrymen and refuse to serve in Vietnam? In his own words:
"Keep asking me no matter how long,
On the war in Vietnam I sing this song'
I ain't got no quarrel with the Viet Cong."
Piss off!

Max Baer on what fear is: "Fear is seeing Joe Louis in the other corner and knowing he wants to get home early"
CC....I forgot about that quote...Haven't heard it in years.....I guess I would be scared if I was in that situation lol
Re: Favorite prefight quotes and callouts
whats that one joe louis said about marciano had died at the time and joe louis said = if you get a ref to count over him he will get up that was beauty of a quote :P
Re: Favorite prefight quotes and callouts
Joe Louis was good for a sound byte "America will win because we are on God's side" and the old gem "You can run but you can't hide"
Re: Favorite prefight quotes and callouts
I think my favorite was Randell "TEX" Cobb on the David LEttermen show with bill cosby as guest host prior to Tex Cobbs Larry Holmes fight.and bill cosby is saying "whats it like in the ring? like in the rocky movie when you get knocked down and teh ring is spinning and the crowd is yelling and the corner is screaming get up get u!!! you've been knocked down!! get up!! Whats that really like???
And tex Cobb leans over and looks really mean and intimidating and says with a growly voice "I don't know. I've never been knocked down"
Cosby nearly shit his pants.
Re: Favorite prefight quotes and callouts
One of my favorites is Vargas' jab at DLH before the Tito fight, saying:
"THIS Mexican... won't run."
Of course, as luck would have it, maybe he should've run after all.

Re: Favorite prefight quotes and callouts
"I want to do what my boxing idol, Sugar Ray Robinson, couldn't do, and that's win the light heavyweight championship.”
He did.
“I function better as an underdog in everything I do in life, with my back against the wall. That's why I hold on to my past.”
Well spoken...and it served him right...for all these years.
