ALI--he was faster than robinson and he was a heavyweight--he was the perfect boxer--the 60's could fire punches from all angles --like robinson---had a chin --like robinson...but ali had the best opposition than any other boxer in any other weight class--his oppostion was better than robinsons--thats y i rate him as the greastest......so does espn classic--lol
No doubt about it Sugar Ray Robinson.
Good points coming, anymore?

I agree I shouldn't have added Spinks I was just saying guys off the top of my head that were good back then. Turpin only beat Ray Robinson and Humez of notable opponents, and Zivic was decent and fought good opponent though he did lose more than a third of his career alot of that came later on, but he can't compare with Frazier or Foreman or Liston. Zivic fought the naturally alot smaller Armstrong, and he did impressively against the much known, but not overly skilled Cochrane who was Gattish at best. Fullmer, Turpin and Lamotta were all tought, but they had no athletic gifts at all... compare that to among the best athletes in the world at Ali's time in Foreman, Liston, Patterson where are great athletes who were quicker than half the guys Robinson fought while outweighing them by 50-60 pounds.Quote:

Robinson was better than Ali hands down....Ali copied Sugar Ray but there is one thing he couldn't copy....Ray's power!
Also ray's chin!! ;)Quote:

Here is a link to a Ray Robinson tribute from Youtube...it's two parts a bit long but worth it for any fan of boxing not just Robinsons........

AHHHH!!!!! HAAAA!!! Now that Mick and ICB showed me how to do it the right way here they are LOL
ali's punching power is underrated--he could hit hard--when he wants 2 and hes not playing around--he was the ONLY man to ko george foreman--that says somethin---remeber also ali was UNBEATABLE b4 his exile--when he came back he was never the same--he was slower, and heavier and his legs werent what they once were--so he was beatable...not easily. had there been a prime ali this wouldnt even be a topicQuote:
