Re: If Tyson had not biten Holyfields ear,how would the fight have gone?
Tyson would've been KO'd, and in quicker fashion than the first fight. He was getting tattooed by Holyfield over the first 3 rounds. This is the reason he bit his friggin ear, it's because he knew he was in for another beating and wanted a way out. I thought this was pretty obvious.
Re: If Tyson had not biten Holyfields ear,how would the fight have gone?
Mike would have been fitter in this fight and at the least I think he would have lost a decision, he wasnt fit for the first and lasted in to the 11th also he had gotten a little sharper through the first fight having completed some rounds
I dont think Mike would have won, his confidence was shot to pieces for a start
He needed Rooney and at least a couple of confidence builders before getting back in with someone who hadnt had the time off Mike had

Early in Tysons career they did spar Holyfeild handed him his arse, so iM lead to beleive

Im a fan of Iron Mike but I think you are right
He may have been fitter than the 1st fight but that wasnt his night and things werent going his way . He had a big effort at the start of the 3rd , but Evander soaked it all up and kept coming back at him . Mike just couldnt break his composure and with a cut aswel I think he panicked .
Had he not bit him , the fight pattern would have proably reflected the 1st fight but quicker . Logic suggests that bit by bit Evander would have broke him down , tied him up on the inside to prevent Tyson from working . Counter Mikes shots , force him on the backfoot and basically bully him around . I think by around the 8th Tysons best chance would have come and gone . Evanders body weight would be coming forward and Mikes demons would cave in on him around this point . He probably knew where it was heading halfway through the 3rd round of the 2nd fight and thats why he did what he did .
Re: If Tyson had not biten Holyfields ear,how would the fight have gone?
Holyfield might have got sparked by bert cooper, but he came back and combo'd him to death after that. I think tyson had a feeling of "deja vu all over again" and realized he better get this fight over quick.

Thanks for bringing this topic up, because I don't think I've read it enough the other 89 times it's been posted.
sadclick
I know this has been posted already coz I posted it a year or so back, but as there are lots of new people on here (like your self)I thought I would post it again coz there is nothing better than a Tyson debate to get the blood flowing.
I noticed smashcrusher you dont semmed to have started any threads of your own.Whats the phraise,"people in glass houses, should'nt throw stones"

I don't think Tyson was getting dominated like some ppl make it out to be. I thought he was beginning to come on strong in that 3rd round. This is why i was shocked he would do that. He was in much better shape for that fight then the 1st one.

He gave it his all at the start of the 3rd and when that failed to make an impact he panicked . He couldnt keep that pace up for the rest of the fight . The 1st bite was out of anger , the second bite was to get out of teh fight and so was the 3rd ( attempt right on the bell )
Re: If Tyson had not biten Holyfields ear,how would the fight have gone?
Tyson was getting dominated. Got rocked on several occasions, and was moments away from being canvassed. O0

It depends. If Holyfield hadn't been allowed to headbutt it may not have happened. Tyson was more focused and in much better shape for the 2nd fight. In the 2nd one he knew Holyfield was no joke. But Holyfield opened up a huge gash above Tyson's eye with a headbutt and that's when Mike flipped. Had he been able to articulate it he would have said as much instead of whatever it was he said about having kids to feed.

Agreed and he was also just too full of emotion from the first fight...he wanted revenge so bad he could not contain himself...He just self destructed
Re: If Tyson had not biten Holyfields ear,how would the fight have gone?
The main problem was the hit hold and walk him back and use of the head tactics of Holyfield he did them in the 1st fight then in the rematch. By this point Tyson had had enough and snapped and bit off Holyfields ear off but one thing i did notice in this 3rd round when Holyfield daren't hold because he would get bitten again Tyson was getting the better of him plus did Holyfields steroid stint play a part in eather of these fights strength wise?? I was shocked when the late Mitch Halpern let Holyfield do so much wrestling and using his head and then in the rematch Mills Lane let him do it all again in the rematch baring in mind the Tyson camp had brought this to his attention and this is the same ref who was constantly pulling Frank Bruno up for holding in the Tyson rematch.Had Holyfield just stud and fought and only held when hurt Tyson would have won the first fight Holyfield basically cheated his way through them and the refs let him.
Re: If Tyson had not biten Holyfields ear,how would the fight have gone?
I think Tyson was on route to an ass kicking , so he took the easy way out , he will never have my respect again for his actions.
