Sorry, Lyle, I didn't mean to imply that only Americans use drugs. It's a worldwide problem, the health effects of which we will not see for another 15 years or so.
I do think it is particularly prevalent in sports where bulk speed and size are major attributes, and quite a few US sports fit that category. I think it's a reflection on the sport rather than your country.
If we played US football, then drug use would be just as rife here (maybe it is in the European gridiron league). Tour de France - I agree that most of the guys are more than likely guilty of drug abuse at some point ........ with very few exceptions.
Unfortunately, it is a fact that baseball and US football have a serious drugs problem.

I think drug use would be big in Rugby and Aussie Rules if it was so big in Football here in the US.....fact is people always look for an edge on their competition, doesn't matter what sport it is.

And to think that kids today are using steroids since Jr. High :( to build up and land in the varsity teams once they reach High School. Or to try and be the best at their sport some even just because they wan't attention from the girls and figure that the best way to get it is bulk up.
If it happens in there chances are they are happening in ALL sports around the world pro, semi pro.....
