did see tyson struggle against tony tucker first 4 rounds and tucker won 4 rounds against prime tyson by sticking and moving but he couldnt keep it up a prime ali with much better footwork and alot quicker than tucker would dance for 12 rounds winning a decision
so in 1987 against tucker do you class that as prime tyson just curious
Seriously, how many times are you going to use that lame Tony Tucker agrument about Tyson. Tucker was well beaten. Yeh he won a couple of rounds, look at the rounds Ali lost - in championship fights boxers lose rounds!!
P.S Tucker was something like 35-0 (31) when he fought Tyson and 6 years later had still only lost once and was 49-1 and number 1 contender to Lewis
So losing 3 rounds to Tucker in a Unification Heavyweight title fight doesn'treally stand up as an argument against Tyson ;)
Bet you wondered how long it would take me to enter this thread ;D

Ali in a time machine.
If Ali had his hands full with a slower shuffle-bob frazier.
A guy with much less size, skill, speed, quickness, power and killer instinct than Tyson. And really jsut a one punch looping jump left hook . HOW?? would he handle TYSON?
Now Modern Ali? Ali in 2007 at 22 years old and 15 years modern training under his belt?
Thats a whole different question.
Ali was not in his prime in 1971.
He took on Frazier too early into his comeback, but that is the measure of the man.
Had the 1967 Ali fought the 1971 Frazier, it would have been a different result.

its not lame arguement tyson was in his prime against tucker i have to say him because if i say razor ruddock or douglas people have the excuse that tyson was past his prime and ill keep saying it when people keep saying tyson was unbeatable yes tucker had good record but off who though exactly ??only two decent fighters he beat was douglas and douglas was ahead in the fight until he got stopped and tucker also beat an ok james broad so he hadnt really beaten anyone when he fought tyson and ali and holmes are twice as good as tucker and it seemed to me he was doing good first 4 rounds until he couldnt keep it up seriously tyson is overrated in my book good yea but not unbeatable like people try and make out
and ps he won 4 rounds ;)

Ali in his prime lost rounds also. At one time Tyson really had the leverage, power, and the stamina and determination to beat anyone.. I believe he would have beat Ali.. Ali could be hit, even as Cassus Clay he would get cracked. Had that been a prime Mike Tyson and not George Chuvalo 34 win and 11 loses Ali fought in 1966 I think Ali would get knocked out fairly quick. Just my estimation . O0
Re: PRIME MIKE TYSON VS MUHAMMED ALI
Tyson would be very suspectible to Ali's mind games as well
Re: PRIME MIKE TYSON VS MUHAMMED ALI
IMHO Iron Mike had a style that was tailor made to beat Ali prime vs. prime. On the flip side I imagine that prime Liston, Foreman, Marciano, Tua, and Ibeabuchi had the best styles and abilities to beat prime Tyson. Tyson seemed like the kind of fighter that had to be beaten by KO and I don't think that Ali had the power to do that against one of the best punch slipping heavyweights of all time. A fighter with a granite chin and tons of power that could catch Mike with the perfect punch would be the perfect match against him. I got a lot of love for both Ali and Tyson because they brought so much excitement and attention to the sport of boxing.
Re: PRIME MIKE TYSON VS MUHAMMED ALI
Mike Tyson had 28 Wins in a row then he had the Heavyweight belt.
Most ended in TKO or KO in round 1, 2 or 3. Never won on points. Says it all!
Muhammad Ali had won 20 times in a row to win the Heavyweight belt.
Only 1 fight ended in round 1.

what does that prove ?? we know tyson hits harder doesnt mean he would win just because he has more power does it ??

With Cus D'Amato still alive I don't think he would have been.

Good point, agreed.
Re: PRIME MIKE TYSON VS MUHAMMED ALI
If Tyson hits hard, then he should be able to floor Ali. If not floor, than get some combinations off scoring points. Hard punchers daze their opponant. And Ali can be dazed by Tyson.
Simple! Wimple!

shavers and foreman hit harder than tyson and they couldnt get him out of there and that was when ali wasnt even in his peak so i dont get what your trying to say tyson hit harder than ali of course but that doesnt mean he would win shavers and foreman were both alot hard hitters than ali and they couldnt even floor him
Re: PRIME MIKE TYSON VS MUHAMMED ALI
They both sucked ass. But I give the edge to Tyson in this one.

Power is not everything, just ask Earnie Shavers.
Look at the whole package & contrast both mens careers & seriously tell me that Tyson would have had the heart or mental capacity to live with Ali?
Re: PRIME MIKE TYSON VS MUHAMMED ALI
I don't think we ever saw the best of Tyson, his list of opponents never allowed him to show how good he could have been because he was in a time when his division was riddled with bums and chumps.
Ali is the most well known boxer of all time (except maybe Stallone ;D) he fought everyone and his time was saturated with great fighters, he fought them all and beat them all.
I like Tyson, he was great for clearing out his division, but then when he was still young, with no 3 year enforced lay off, he got crushed and made to look like a bum by a journeyman in Buster Douglas.
Never happened to Ali until he was ancient, fat, and suffering from Parkinsons disease.
No one can touch Ali's legacy.
