I think Rafael will give Vasquez a beatdown.
Vasquez's biggest hope is landing a bomb in the later rounds like he did against Ghonzalez.
Marquez wins 117-111 or thereabouts barring a Vasquez haymaker.
Whichever way you look at it,I don't think either fighter will give the other a total beatdown. No way. You make it sound as if Vazquez was lucky against Ginzalez, but he showed heart in that fight and we all saw how heavy his hands were! And Rafa Marquez is not as rangy as Gonzalez and doesn't use the jab as much either.

I mean Larios,in their fight, landed bomb after bomb, and only dropped Vazquez in the 12th if I remember correctly. Rafa hits MUCH harder than Larios but Larios threw like 120 punches every round and Isreal kept up the pace with him until the end. Vazquez is one TOUGH TOUGH Mexican warrior but then again,so too is Marquez. Whatever happens(unless there is a rematch) I have heard Isreal will move up.
And to think that if all goes well I'll be there.... :)
Man!! really looking forward to this....
Whoever wins one things for sure it'll be one hell'uva fight..... :boxingmatch:
Re: Vazquez, Marquez heats up!
damn! i would love to go to this one but for unfortunate reasons might have to skip it. Dont like the O.C. I dont know if Carson is still in the O.C. but last December i went to Irvine Marriott to watch Mighty Mike Anchondo rebound from his loss to Barrios and it was all gravy until leaving that freaking parking lot. yup, a freaking DUI. sucks big time. anyway. Trainer Yuca presented Daniel Ponce to us and Mexican tarahumara indian from Chihuahua looks tough sporting his slick ponytail/ They said israel Vasquez didnt want to fight him saying he still needs more fights.
Since Ponce de Leon is scheduled for the Barrera-Marquez undercard later in March, we might just head on up to Vegas and get hooked up with some tix again.

Nah! Carsons always been LA County.....
But it's close to the OC....
So you wer at the Fights in the Ballroom event?
How did my boy from La Puente look on his comeback?
Thats cool you had a chance of meeting De Leon, hes a cool guy I've had a chance to meet him and talk on a couple of occasions..... Solid fighter, but I don't think the Vasquez statement is true. Vasquez has been fighting World Class yrs. before De Leon. By the time De Leon started his career Vasquez was about to fight for a world title.... I like both Vasquez & De Leon, and what a match up that would be who knows maybe the winner of Vasquez & Marquez can face De Leon if he beats Penalosa....
Thanks for sharing the info... :)
Re: Vazquez, Marquez heats up!
I think Rafael Marquez will outduel Vasquez, going with the gut feeling. Gonzalez almost had Vasquez, i havent seen Rafa Marquez in trouble yet. I dont know much about Penalosa but them Pilipinos are always tough, i just like Ponce de Leon's style - straight left bombs to the head. Saying that, how bout a Ponce de Leon vs. Johhny Gonzalez?
Anchondo looked a bit rusty but got the W. A bit heavy, i guess weight is always an issue for a boxer. He has a new team training him, hopefully he gets another shot down the road.
Re: Vazquez, Marquez heats up!
And with Darchinyan vs Burgos as the undercard should make for a good night of boxing

I agree on the Marquez-Vasquez, Rafa hasn't been in trouble for years maybe since the 1st Johnson fight.....
Penalosa WAS good but is now waayy past his best days and you could really see that in his last fight against Martinez where he struggled throughout the fight and got caught by several good punches by Martinez.
De Leon-Gonzalez would be a really good match up, haven't given that much thought...
Heres hoping Mighty Mike can climb back to the top and fight for a title hopefully the rough part about the sport hasn't deflated his will and desire to be in the sport....

Vic should be able to finish Burgos off without any problems, Burgos is havey handed and of he can land his big punch he will hurt Vic but even then I don't know if Burgos can finish him off. Vic needs to fight from the outside and land his big puches from range as he usually does and he'll be OK...
Re: Vazquez, Marquez heats up!
Iam going for marquez.I cant wait for this fight I could see this fight being a candidate for fight of the year.
Re: Vazquez, Marquez heats up!
This is almost a sure thing war. I like both fighters. But I'm taking Vazquez to come out on top. He showed in the Gonzalez fight that he could get back up and win. I have yet to see that from Marquez.

Marquez in recent times hasn't been down, but if you look at his loses for example his 1st loss on his debut he fights Rabanales a former Champ. you might look at his record and not see greatness but for a debut who would do that?
But people forget the kind of WAR he was in with 'Too Sharp' Johnson when they met twice, the 1st time they met 'Too Sharp' was BAD MAN in those days strong mo' fo', fast, sneaky and used a shit load of rough tactics Rafa stood there toe to toe and traded with him, they both took the best of eachtoher but Rafa hurt Too Sharp in the 8th, but in the 10th Rafa had him out on his feet. Too Sharps warrior heart kept him up... What a fight that was....
But I think Rafa has what it takes to tango in the ring with Israel if it goes to that....
