For everyone who says he should fight Cotto, just think real hard about who promotes Miguel, and how his relationship with Floyd is fairing these days. People can be quite blind to the promotional side of things. Bob Arum would not ALLOW Cotto to fight Floyd, unless he himself was absolutely positive that he had a great chance of winning the fight. I don't think Cotto's there yet. Judah's a great step up for him, and he deserves credit for taking that fight. But don't get carried away and just yell out names that Floyd should fight without thinking about whether they will realistically be made.

If he beats OLDH, I'll put him Top 20 p4p all time. If he beats OLDH, then beats or makes a fight of it with Winky at 154, (Yes I realize Winky is fighting B-Hop at 170), then beats Cotto, Margarito or Mosley, he'll be Top 5 in my book.
Yes, I like to see knockouts. And yes, I'd like to see PBF pushed a little bit. But I don't think if he walks through the opponents above with decisions you can deny his greatness.
PS- I really don't like PBF, and don't give him much of a chance to get thru all of the fighters listed above.

winky, mosely, hatton, cotto (IF he beats judah and another big name, and no quintana doesnt count as a big name ;)) are the guys to beat if he wants to cement his all time great status.
and why would you include margarito with the likes of delahoya and mosely??? the guy is a fucking journeyman

That's the list I agree with. Hatton is not a real threat to him and Cotto is the best fight out there for him because Oscar is certainly not what he once was speed wise and Mosley is a bit of a question mark at this age.
BTW SweetPea, I know you say you don't think his level of competition is that bad but it surely doesn't warrant p4p status.

what did you think of pernell whitaker when he was fighting?
he is maybe my fav of all time (will probably be replaced by floyd when all is said and done)
you could make an arguement to say that he "ran" (boxed ;)) more than mayweather, but when people talk about him all you ever hear is what a great boxer and defensive wizard he was (he was ;)) and that hes an all time great (he is)
i remember pernell fights where he would slip a few punches, counter, and then literally turn his back and jog away from the guy
Pernell did that, turning his back and walking away, HOWEVER he did STAND AND FIGHT a lot as well
And people who bring up Willie Pep must note that he didn't always run away either....he'd stay in close, slip and counter and do some damage.
And also, more importantly Pep and Whittaker took chances!

Not for nothing frozen but I don't really believe he was trying to make those fights. He's a bullshit artist. He's always contradicting himself in regards to the guys he should be fighting.

And let me guess, Mayweather doesn't. Right? So I'm guessing his 24 knocks came by what? Luck? Please. This a perfect example of someone just looking for a reason to bad mouthed Mayweather. Rather stupid or not. Mayweather in 37 wins has 24 knock outs. Whitaker (who I'm a fan of) scored only 17 knock outs in his 40 wins. Yet Mayweather is a runner and Whitaker is a guy who would fight. Ridicules.

Pernell in his 40+ fights actually fought some GREAT fighters which is why I consider him a GREAT FIGHTER and Floyd hasn't he's wasted his talent and been a bitch and never stepped up until now and now he wants to retire soon as well.
Whittaker fought top tier fighters in his youth, in his prime, after his prime.....he fought anyone who was anyone!

Lyle, this is the whole point of having this thread....
If you don't like who Floyd has faced, then name the fighters he needs to face in order to earn your respect.
I'm open to people voicing their anti-Floyd opinions, but providing a list of the guys he needs to fight after DLH will be more beneficial than just ranting and calling Floyd a bitch.

Well you haven't listed it in this thread.
Obviously if you don't feel like listing who he should fight, that's your right, but I for one would be interested to know which opponents you think he needs to fight if he beats Oscar. The more opinions, the better the discussion.

Out of curiosity, who do you think Hatton needs to fight to achieve all time great status? Or is he already there?

Mayweather deserves a lot of respect, Corrales at 130, Castillo twice at 135, Mitchell and Gatti were both former champions and were good fighters! Judah was undisputed Welter king for a while.
I wish he had have fought Tszyu! After DLH I hope he goes back to 147 and takes on Cotto and Mosley.
DLH at 154 looks to strong. Both Margarito and Hatton would not beat him with one arm tied behind his back. You can only beat who is put in front of you and so far Mayweather has beaten everyone who has got in the ring with him.
