Re: Anyone dig up any articles on the myriad of excuses Allen Green probably has
Although, as much as everyone says Green could have beat Miranda if he opened up, I don't think it's any coincidence that once Green did open up he got knocked down. Still, Green robbed us of a potential FOTY >:mad
Re: Anyone dig up any articles on the myriad of excuses Allen Green probably has
The excuse seems to be "energy" and having to make 162lbs. ::**
From his matchmaker:

Here are my observations about the fight. From the first round Allan looked tired. He rarely opened up, rarely threw combinations and was tired way too fast. When he dropped Miranda he didnt try to finish.
The problem according to Allan was making weight. I dont know if that was it or not, but something has to explain why he was exhausted early in the fight.
He took Mirandas best right hand in the first round. Didnt hurt him. He got hit with a ton of shots and wasnt hurt. In the last round it wasnt Miranda's power that was the problem it was that he was 100% spent and exhausted.
So, it looks like Allan will move back up in weight to 168 and challenge a tough fighter to get back into the mix and get his career back on track.
Hopefully if anything this fight at least proved that Allan's chin is not as bad as people thought.

I have to agree on that...IMO if Green opened up Miranda would have opened up...Face to Face Miranda would have beat him down....Look how Edison came on late in the 10th...Now imagine how he would have been in the first or secon..When full of energy??....Green at least would have been saved the embaressment of pulling down Mirands shorts lol

Green lost to the better man on Saturday and leave it at that. Whats with the Green hating its just one loss!
Lou De valle Dropped Roy Jones in his prime.... Did that make De valle a superstar and a worldbeater who struggled but Knocked Roy Jones down??? Did that Knockdown diminish or discredit Roy's body of work in his prime... The answer to both those questions is HELL NO!!!!! Green was gutless and lacked heart I would give him all the credit if he lost a hardfought desicion or if he got sparked out by round 5, but to see him chickenshitting around the ring for 10 rounds is inexcusable, especially for someone who creates and believes his own hype.... He got exposed for being a coward who is afraid to get hit...
All the power, speed, technique and skills dont mean shit in this game if your afraid to get hit.... Again he is the SupermiddleWeight version of Audley Harrison, all the potential for greatness in the world a gifted natural athlete who is afraid to take a lick sad, very sad... Green is overatted plain and simple, he is gun shy and thats gonna get him hurt.. Let him make a career out of Friday night fights like Emanuel Augustus...
Re: Anyone dig up any articles on the myriad of excuses Allen Green probably has
I disagree with allot of what people are saying on this thread. Yes Greene did get beat but he's not done I think maybe this one loss will actually teach him something and he probably wont be as cocky either. I have to give him credit though for stepping in the ring with Miranda like someone else said the better man won and Greene did knock him down. I think if Green goes back up to where he should be he will get right back on track. Ok so I'm ready for everyone to bash me lol.

I give him a ton of credit for stepping in the ring with Edison. I don't think Allan believed all the hype of the power until he felt it. Than he got scared and went into survival mode. He did survive (barely), but your not going to win fights that way (unless of course you are in Germany!! ;D).

I agree with you. But people are saying Green is afraid to take a punch and stuff. Can they tell me one fight Green fought scared? Miranda's power did make him fight a more defensive fight then he wanted but thats being smart not scared. But too many fight fans want to see a fighter who gets hit by a hard shot and decide he wants to go toe to toe even though he's not a harder puncher.
I think Green learned from his loss too and will probably come back a better fighter. Time will tell if this loss makes him a better fighter. I just don't get why people are counting him out so easily.

Listen.... I know your a fan of his, but your seriously letting that dilute the facts... Green has exhibited good jab, Skills, power and ability to put together sizzling combo's... He didnt attempt anything, he made 0 effort to win the fight, he was content to stay alive in the fight and go the distance... He had a great opportunity and he choked on his grandest stage in his career, he ran his mouth incessantly and paid the price of embarrasment....
That was his 1st fight against anyone that wasnt mediocre or inexperienced, this was to big of a step for him, Miranda is worldclass Green isint... What further makes me laugh is all the shit he was talking about Lacy, Jeff would of tore his azz to pieces.. Like I said, see you back on Friday nite fights Allen!!!!!

And I'm not diluting the facts, I'm saying that I'm not going to jump ship on Green off of one bad performance.
And I don't think Miranda's world class(nor Green) he's never beaten a world class fighter(he stayed strong with Abraham and broke his jaw but still lost the fight and thats a fact I wont dillute)
And Eastman isn't world class, he was always potentially got there but he's lost, he was a gatekeeper that showed Miranda has world class potential and Green ahs yet to beat an opponent as good as him.
Miranda isn't world class but he's getting there, probably his next few fights. Green isn't world class and he'll get there in a few years.
Do you think Miranda could beat Taylor?
Re: Anyone dig up any articles on the myriad of excuses Allen Green probably has
Miranda thinks Jermain Taylor or Kelly Pavlik would be an easier fight for him than Green was.
He commended Green on his defense. He says he moves very well and was hard to hit. When he did get hit he was able to tie up and hold on long enough to recover. He said Pavlik and Taylor are much easier to hit and they will be hurt early in the fight.

Pavlik would be but he likes to fight on the inside and train.
Personally I think Taylor would beat Miranda handily. All of Miranda's shots love to come from the outside and at a distance is Jermain Taylor's game.
Miranda's not an inside fighter and he'd have to be in order to beat Taylor.
I think Miranda would beat Pavlik easily.

Because he looked AWFUL. There's no more damaging loss then a loss in which you look scared imo. He had the tools to beat Miranda just didn't use them because he didn't have confidence in himself.
And what??? Thats no reason to bash a fighter when eh hasn't veen been given the chance to comeback yet. If he came back and looked the same way then thats good to hate on him but its only one loss and if he hasn;t even come back from the loss yet then why is everyone hating on him?
No one is concerned that he lost the fight. Everyone is concerned he lost THE fight......the fight to want to fight. No will. Just float along like a piece of crap whenever he faced adversity. Well that is a heart of a champion. And do you know what?? He will look great next time out, on boxing after dark against Lyle.
Re: Anyone dig up any articles on the myriad of excuses Allen Green probably has
Green actually used a move I use in sparring vs Miranda. He feinted the right cross and threw the left hook....works whenever you have a guy focused on your cross....it also loads the power up on your hook.
Green just seemed to lazy, the weight probably affected him

Yeah ::** ..........I'm not trying to be condescending but it was the manner in which he lost, it would have been better for him if he lost a close desicion in an entertaining fight or if he got KO'D early in the fight... But to constantly going backwards and throw one or two punches and then hold is purely a chickenshit way to fight.. Again hardly the sizziling hot juggernaut phenom he builds himself up to be
yeah...if he went out like paulie Mag then maybe he would have kept some respect...but to hold on like a worried prom date is a bit over the top...he has lost any respect he had...he needs to get it back...but the question is "Can He?" the only way to do it is to continue to step up and fight the tougher competition....I don't see it happening anytime soon...
Re: Anyone dig up any articles on the myriad of excuses Allen Green probably has
I think he'd be better suited for 168. #1 The competition isn't as deep there #2 He doesn't kill himself as bad to make the weight, #3 He'll have more power and more stamina there.
I mean Peter Manfredo gets a shot at the top dog of the division....why risk fighting at 160 when you may get a scrap of a belt thrown at you at 168.
I never figured Miranda would get so frustrated fighting Green....I mean he'll NEVER beat Jermain Taylor like that....JT would bug the shit out of him, jabbing, moving, circling. Miranda only wants to brawl and he'll find very few suitors for that
