Boxing without gloves is an entirely different sport. Any defensive fighter would be fucked, you could slip and block the punches as easily any more, you'd have no protection for your hands and there was no limit to the number of rounds.
I'm sure guys like Tyson etc would do well but honestly Chuck Liddel would probably have been one mean mutha fuckker back then as he's virtually a bare knuckle brawler now and damn near unstoppable at present.
Chuck Lidell would get smashed up bareknuckles or not the guy is an
off balance musclebound MMA fighter id back any top ten heavyweight to knock him out with hands , there a difference between an MMA fighter and a world class boxer .
Look at Lidells elbows when he throws any kind of punch and compare it to a boxer ,
[the geezer can't punch . He might be able to punch going forward but a counter puncher ( genuine puncher ) can throw a knockout punch off the back foot, believe me he'd get sparked very quickly . The reason gloves were put on fists is to protect hands from heads not to protect heads from hands !!!!
The same fighters who are world champion with gloves would be world champion in the bareknuckle era because genuine world champs are smarter more adaptable and deal with crisis better than fighters who have the talent but never quite make it .
Non punchers can still do untold damage without gloves you'd just have a more evolved fighter with better skills .
The points null and void anyway like i said Gloves were put on fists to protect hands and as my old mate Scrap didly Ap said their hands were fucked after 10 fights .
Imagine Rafeal Marquez smashing somebody in the head he'd break his whole handand probably damage his wrist and elbow .
Hitting the bag without gloves is dangerous enough conditioned bone such as skull ,hip and elbow is F****** suicidal .
Total Idiotic comment with ignorance stinking to high heaven and earning a much deserved :sadclick: # 46
Liddell is the opposite of musclebound and as a matter of fact has great balance and fluidity in his punches
He cant punch Huh? ::** Well there are quite a few of his opponents that will disagree with that...
20W-3L with 13KO's
http://www.sherdog.com/fightfinder/f...?FighterID=192
As a matter of fact Lidell has KO quite a few opponents backing up and is a prolific counterpuncher... So I dont know who or what the hell your watching but I suggest you look closer or actually look before writing stuff that is so wrong its ridiculous....
############# ALSO LOOK AT THE PICTURE OF CHUCK IN THE LINK I PROVIDED.... YEA HIS PYHSIQUE IS LEGENDARY, KINDA RONNIE COLEMAN ESQUE ::** #######################################
JT you're on my arse without making a single noteworthy point except fantasising about mens physique.
You've never boxed you've never been to a gym and you have no idea about balance or posture !!
Sad click away truth is though you know fuck all !!!
A puncher is not just somebody who bulls forward throwing a punch with his full weight behind a punch !!!
theres a difference between being a pressure fighter and a puncher , Liddel is a pressure fighter with power not a puncher you idiot !!!
A puncher is somebody who can take you out with split second timing without reaching or leaning with a punch somebody who can time you off the backfoot when under pressure .
By your WWF standards Liddel might spark a few people in MMA but he is sloppy and his balance is poor backing up against guys who are lunging for a takedown or trying to grapple him does not make him a puncher just as it doesnt make a pissed up Rugby prop knocking out a bouncer on a saturday night you F wit .
See the thing is when i talk about Punchers im talking about world class punchers people who do it on the world stage in the boxing ring
MMA is far beneath the level needed to be a world class puncher in a boxing ring !!
Levels muppett levels .
As for my shit post can you please tell me im i right about Boxing gloves being put on fists to protect hands or am i wrong are they used to protect heads ?
See throughout the entire thread nobody mentioned that so please dont bottle it and give me a genuine answer .

Why would you care what I think Gordo.. I'm just versed in MMA and nothing more than a Muppet fukwit ;) I could care less about the points you made on boxing gloves, I never commented on it in the 1st place... Not to mention I have seen Liddell do the things that you just said he cant, so instead of going round and round about this with a MMA hater and super pugilistic genius like you... I am admitting I am shite and nothing more than a Chucklehead
Hope that helps ;) By the way I love your brand of Fishsticks
Re: LET'S PUT THE MODERN FIGHTER INTO THE BAREKNUCKLE ERA...
Someone who might have done well....
Andrade! You could probably hit him in the face with a brick bat and he still wouldn't bleed.
He'd probably just outlast opponents ;)

Re: LET'S PUT THE MODERN FIGHTER INTO THE BAREKNUCKLE ERA...
I'll take a 190lb Roy Jones Jr over a 190lb Tom Cribb any day of the week and twice on Sunday.
Re: LET'S PUT THE MODERN FIGHTER INTO THE BAREKNUCKLE ERA...
I think Thomas Hearns would do great ;D
Re: LET'S PUT THE MODERN FIGHTER INTO THE BAREKNUCKLE ERA...
if Hatton had a go his face would peel off after 3 minutes ;D
Re: LET'S PUT THE MODERN FIGHTER INTO THE BAREKNUCKLE ERA...
The style of bareknuckle fighting was much different than today's boxing. The jab was pretty much nonexistant. Fighters like Sullivan were noted for rushing forward and pummeling their opponent. Wrestling holds were allowed above the waist and were used in later rounds because many of the fighters damaged their hands early on in the fight. I wouldn't count these guys out though, read about some of the fights which involved strangling, knee drops to downed opponents and spiking opponents legs. "Gentleman" John Jackson beat Mendoza by grabbing his hair and beating him senseless. This stuff makes head butts and low blows look fairly tame.
Re: LET'S PUT THE MODERN FIGHTER INTO THE BAREKNUCKLE ERA...
PBF would be a nobody back then and would actually end up in jail for owing money as it goes fighters would get fined when they didn't engage in a fight since PBF runs most of the time he (PBF) would get fined all the time. ;D

CC#101 on me I forgot all about Andrade....Yes IMO he would either just make the other guy fall with exaustion with his attempts or just suck the shots up like a sponge in water

:coolclick: back! Not to get too far off topic, but Andrade made a fan of me in the Kessler fight. There's something about a guy that can take a beating like that and still grin at the end of the fight ;D

I wouldn't think that Roy would be that good bareknuckle. Yes, he's a genuinely great athlete and he has great boxing skills (gloved anyway, and predicated on the existing Rules). Someone like Cribb would be one tough s.o.b. These guys took punches all night and Roy would not hurt him because he would not be punching at full power. Bareknuckle punching calls for slightly different technique than gloved punching.
The ring really was a ring, and the crowd would aften push the guys into the centre of the ring if they were backing off too much ..... nowehere to run!
I like RJJ, but in a bareknuckle match, a pro like Cribb walks through him, breaks him up and breaks his heart I'm afraid. IMO anyway
Re: LET'S PUT THE MODERN FIGHTER INTO THE BAREKNUCKLE ERA...
Its a romantic notion no doubt, but I dont buy it. Some people see the bare knucklers as superhuman, able to dish out and receive almost endless amounts of punishment, I dont.
Someone with Jones level of natural athleticism and his far superior boxing skill would make mincemeat of my hometown hero. IMO of course ;)
Re: LET'S PUT THE MODERN FIGHTER INTO THE BAREKNUCKLE ERA...
How about guys like Gerald Mcclellan, Julian Jackson?? How about Big lumbering 40 year old George Foreman? He would own them all
Re: LET'S PUT THE MODERN FIGHTER INTO THE BAREKNUCKLE ERA...
I tell you who would be a great great bareknuckle fighter (and I am serious) ......... Nikolai Valuev.
Seriously, think about it ........... he is absolutely monstrous, doesn't punch that hard that he would break his hands and looks dead scary.
