Williams-You mention his size and aggressive style. He leaves himself wide open and he takes a lot of punches. You take away his height and stamina...and he would be like 8-24 right now or something. He makes to many mistakes to beat Floyd.
Cotto-You mentioned his power and that he's dangerous.Power means nothing if you cant land a clean shot on someone.Where was his power during the Malignaggi and Urkal fights?Because I didnt see it.
Margo is superior to Corrales. That is a very poor comparison. Also, Corrales' size is deceptive, while he's tall, he has a relatively short reach. Despite his height, Mayweather was able to establish the distance and control the fight. Also, I think Margo clearly has more power.
Williams, you might be right, or not, hard to say unless we see it for ourselves. One thing about Floyd, he has rarely fought anyone, if ever, that has physical advantages of reach and height. For him, setting the distance is a huge part of him controlling the fight. With Williams, he may leave himself open, but the advantages are so huge Mayweather might not ever get close to him. Plus, Mayweather has no power. His stoppages come from accumulation, not power. It's not just a matter of him getting close and working Williams, it would be a matter of him having to do it over and over in order for him to wear Williams down or add up points. I think that could be a very difficult task for Mayweather.
Cotto, I actually agree with you. It's a bad match up for Cotto. However, his power makes him dangerous. He is agressive and brings with him a chance to catch Mayweather. Baldomir and Judah did not carry this kind of risk.
Would any of these guys beat Mayweather? Maybe not, or maybe, that's not the main point. Each would have brought something into the ring that Judah and Baldmir didn't. They would have been much more difficult opponents, and as far as I'm concerned, answered more of our questions about Floyd and earned him much more respect.
Baldomir and Judah presented no real threat from their power, they had no advantages in height or reach, they were safe choices and clearly NOT the best competition for Mayweather at 147.
