Re: Where did they go wrong with Judah??
Amat...when I say that a "focused" Zab is a top fighter....this is what I mean.Leading up to his fight with Floyd...he was running about 9 miles a week...instead of doing a lot of sparring,he worked the mitts more than anything...and he was trying to adapt his style(rolling and parrying).
8 Days before the Kostya fight...he was down in Miami getting drunk and he hosted a big after party event before going back to "camp".
If Zab cut back on partying, stopped trying to break into the rap world, and actually put 100% into boxing...he'd definitely contend with the welters.

No I get what you mean, and I agree.
But...a focused Zab just isn't going to happen. Or if he was focused versus Mayweather, maybe a focused Zab doesn't cut it? And he was in Miami before the Floyd too. I think it was the Eastman - Miranda fight he was at. FNF was there and he was ringside. Just two weeks out and he had been training at Gleasons. I don't know about any partying he did or anything. But...it's Zab. I wouldn't put it past him that's for sure. Also reports came out around the time of that fight (or maybe it was the Baldomir fight) that he got into it with Busta Rhymes at the 40/40.
Anyways, I thought he looked respectable against Floyd early, but he got his will broken by a fairly light puncher. Mayweather is a concise puncher but still, 5 rounds and he shutdown. His workrate dropped, he fought more and more off the back foot and..well I don't need to tell you. The Zab that was in the ring that night wasn't a top fighter imo.
Like I said, Zab is only 29 but he has already been written off a bit and this could be his very last chance. Hopefully he realizes that. But it's always "hopefully" with Zab, and that's the problem.
Re: Where did they go wrong with Judah??
If Zab beats Cotto...I'd say that he was on the right track. If he loses...I guess he could make a fight with maybe Cintron or Malignaggi...and call it quits...or keep fighting for 90k purses.
Re: Where did they go wrong with Judah??
Here's part of Zab's interview he did the other dat on btalk, he sounds like he knows all this. I can't copy and paste so this is basically it to a question
HBO: Why do you think that sometimes you were unfocused?
ZJ:It's a God given talent. Sometimes it becomes so easy to me, that I play with it.
People don't understand, fighters go in there and work hard to try to be the greatest. But I 50 percent do what I do. I think that if I put my all into it, it's going to happen.
Im not allowed to post it all here I don't think.
But he sounds like he's going to be giving it his all in this fight
