I think having a keen sharp mouth like Floyd does have, helps a fighter get recognition and press, and if he can back it up with a good win that is the key. Floyd is clever and he says some funny things and he is truthful in his ego. A man who is undefeated can say he is the best and believe it, and he does. Ali made his mouth his biggest asset, yet the fists have to back up the mouth and they did in that case also as was the case with SRL. A fighter who was exceptionally good but did not have the attitude to get people interested was Mike McCallum. A good fighter, had he demanded fights with Hagler or Hearns and made it more interesting by calling them out, he might have gotten people to recognize him and demand those fights. But he did not, and the guys Hagler/Hearns/Leonard/Duran-those 4 guys had a party and did not invite Mike.. And the fact is he will never be recognized like they will be just because they fought each other. I think in Mike's case the attitude hurt him. And he was too good for his own good for them to just fight him. But Floyd is not a megastar yet.. And to say this fight will absolutely make him like Sugar Ray Leonard? yeah he will be known, but he will not probably be like Ray yet. I thought about this for a few hours now and I am not sure beating Mosley and Delahoya does it. He needs to beat a guy who is now like Jermaine Taylor. Ray Leonard had a unique situation. If you have guys like Wilfred Benitez, Thomas Hearns, Roberto Duran to fight in your era and you beat them all, that does alot for your image. Oscar Delahoya was stopped by Bernard Hopkins and beaten by Tito (maybe a bad decision but on paper he lost), and he lost to Mosley twice. So you do not have this undefeated Delahoya vs. undefeated Mayweather. Oscar is damaged goods but he has the name. If Floyd wins it makes him the biggest guy in boxing now, what that means who knows. Boxing is not doing so great now..

But you don't think that just beating Oscar makes him a mega star though right Wack? I mean, a lot of people saw Sturm beat De La Hoya. Even more saw Mosley beat him. Twice. Hopkins benefited a lot but he is a guy who really hit the press trail after his win.

The short answer would be no, a win would not make him a MEGA star. PBF doesnt have the personallity to become a cross over star.

no different to pbf? how do you think pbf would fair against duran, hagler , and hearns? and im sick of peeps saying hagler was robbed, it was a good win for leonard who was a welter and hadnt been in ring for 3 yrs......it would have been more contraversial if hagler got the decision....leonard won by 1-2 rds easy.....

Mr T. lets say Hagler won that decision on April 7, 1987. People would have been completely shocked. Ray won most of those rounds. Ray came to fight and beat great fighters. Something Delahoya or Mosley have not done in the same fashion.

srl holds a "win" over marvin hagler and a "win" in the second tommy figh sorry thas 3 ppl some of which were robbed adn yeah he beat tommy big up to him hes a legend but if u really look at it he isnt to be compared to toher legends ........ castillo is a fighter to be considred espeacially if he beats hatton ande mosely is one of the best of his generation ..... a legend who beat oscar 2 times so if floyd beat castillo alreday and if he beats oscar and mosely wat sais he shouldnt be considred greater? ....

Uhh Leonard hadn't fought in 3 years when he fought Hagler and was way above his natural weight and still won i don't care how many people say it was robbery it wasn't it could of gone either way and Leonard won Leonard had draw vs Hearns in 2nd fight by the way and he had Hearns staggering around ring loads of times fair play i think Leonard lost aswell but Hearns just had Leonard's number over 12 rounds like Forrest had Mosley's number and if Castillo beats Hatton and Mosley ?? just wait and see bud because i doubt he will beat Hatton let alone beat Mosley.
And your talking about two many ifs say Castillo gets brutally koed by Hatton early then what ??? you see what im saying you can't say ifs just wait and see after Hatton fight first.
And for record out of all these decisions only one i think Leonard lost is against Hearns and that was gift but what about Mayweather's gift over Castillo aswell ??

Duran beat him then Leonard schooled him twice he won a decision against Hagler and if Hagler would of got decision people would be saying samething now about Haglers gift i don't know about Pryor taking it to Leonard at Welterweight Pryor is one of my most favorite fighters but he is sloppy sometimes and Leonard could take advantage of that name one hand picked fighter Leonard ever chose ??

Leonard can't boast an 0 on his record and Floyd can so imo if he can beat Oscar then he's in the elite no question and for the record hagler was robbed against SRL (anyone who knows boxing can tell you that) ;)
5 weights for Mayweather too :)
And especially in his defence he's showed me moves that SRL simply never posessed.
I don't think for a second he will retire either and expect him to go after Cotto etc if he wins ;)
He's got too much to give us to turn it in at his age ;)

Well i could say same for you thinking Hagler won Leonard could of done no Worse than 7-5 i don't see where this robbery is coming from Leonard won first 4 rounds easy as pie and Leonard won one of middle rounds if i remember and he won 12th i would have to do rbr but i had it very close but no robbery people use word robbery in wrong fashion a robbery isn't when a fight could go either way a robbery is Chavez vs Whitaker Chavez vs Ramirez Lewis vs Holyfield 1 .

you cant be serious. how can you say hagler was robbed? have you ever really watched that fight closely? if you have youll know that right of the bat hagler lost the first 4 rds and then some
