Re: Big Bad Jermain Taylor AFRAID to go to Wales.
I agree that Joe should go to America too fight Taylor, for the same reasons that Kessler should go to Wales to fight Calzaghe
1 Calzaghe calls Taylor out ( Kessler Calls Calzaghe out)
2 Taylor has had the biggest fight and proven himself more
3 Calzaghe needs Taylor more than Taylor needs Calzaghe
Re: Big Bad Jermain Taylor AFRAID to go to Wales.
Sorry....I seem to have stumbled on to the Calzaghe-Bashers anonymous club thread here. And less of the sheep jokes...they're offensive to people from New Zealand.
Ok, so all that was said is that Jermaine Taylor doesn't want to come to Wales to fight. At no point in the article was Calzaghe quoted as saying he won't travel if that's what it takes, and points about increased wages for both fighters in the states are valid. I reckon Calzaghe will go to the states to fight, unless something with Kessler comes off. And I reckon Calzaghe wins this one if its made.

I reckon calaghe knocks taylor out...or stops him
Re: Big Bad Jermain Taylor AFRAID to go to Wales.
Hardly.. Jermain might not have made that many fans but you cant deny his greatness..
He still undefeated, Hes proven he will fight anybody and the best..
Hopkins twice, winky wright, Kassim ouma was his ' Fight off '..The man deserves respect..
Hes got the fight with spinks..Another worthy challenge..
And if Miranda continues to impress he'll fight him too..
I honestly dont see the problem with what jermain is saying.. He aint afraid to fight Calzaghe..
Joe needs to break america.. Jermain is in america and is the bigger name..
I find it strange..Joe wana break america.. He obv signed with hbo, cos he wants to be shown there..
So its him needing america..
Im pretty sure jermain isnt that fussed about getting welsh support..
If he doesnt fight joe then he fights miranda or pavlik, or he rematches winky wright possibly..
But if joe doesnt fight jermain, Then does he fight winky? or bernard? they are both fighting each other so that certainly wont happen till late in the year is atall..
So then who's left? Roy Jones jr? If that fight has a chance of happening when it comes to money issues.. Then is that even going to be a genuine notch on the belt should joe even win that?
Joe needs jermain more then jermain needs joe frankly..
And joe should be happy to come to the states..I think he's too far in to try to bring the big boxing to britain when he could have been doing that years ago..Now its not about bringing anything anywhere..
Its about securing a legacy that is slipping away from a great fighter who hasnt proven himself to his full extent or made anywhere near the money he has been capable of doing...
Re: Big Bad Jermain Taylor AFRAID to go to Wales.
I was just talking on another thread about how bad stoppages hurt the sport. Who would ever want to fight in Wales after Calzaghe was basically given a TKO victory by the obviously biased ref in the Manfredo fight. Calzaghe throws one flurry and misses with 80% of the shots and the fight is instantly called. Then Calzaghe makes you believe that it was an intentional ploy when he tells us that he believes that Manfredo was really hurt. Yeah Joe, you got your 20th title defense but the way you got it insured that no one will ever want to fight you in your backyard again.
Re: Big Bad Jermain Taylor AFRAID to go to Wales.
While ever ive got an hole in my arse Calzaghe does'nt go to states and fight Taylor ;)

Lol..If only it were that easy bro! LOL! If it were as easy as sticking a cork in your arse to get calzaghe to fight a big name in the states i'd be knocking on your door  :o
Haha..
Peace
Re: Big Bad Jermain Taylor AFRAID to go to Wales.
Is Joe a great fighter,I dont know
And until Warren stops hiding him in Wales, and has him fighting reality TV stars, noone is going to know
I hear theyre in negotiations for Paris Hilton once she gets out of the pen

Well it's time Joe was the one with the balls to fight overseas.....Jeff Lacy took the trip over there as a young prospect, Pete Manfredo was never in Joe's league and he took the trip over there......Joe Calzaghe has no balls.
Roy Jones Jr. would have fought him here
James Toney
Bernard Hopkins
Hell anyone who could have made him more money lives right here in the USA
get your facts right lyle, Calzaghe signed his contract to fight hopkins IN THE US hopkins wanted 6 million when all he had done apart form lose ot roy jones is beat tito.. he was offerd more money to meet joe in the states (MSG i believe) than he got for beating tito...
Now first off i would liek to say in the grand scheme of things in years to come maybe Joe does need to go and win a big fight int he states, i do want to see him go there, i do...
But lets look a it like this...
Hopkins, Roy Jones, mayweather, taylor NONE of these have left the states, do they even pull in more than 35,000 per fight? Joe got 35,000 with manfredo, it would be in the 40's or 50's if it was Taylor...
Remember its fucking warren who makes the offers not joe, basicaly the same for any non promoting fighter.. why is it an offer is made, money, venue, anyhting really and everyone jumps on the fighters back? how is it for a forum of guys who know so much about boxing they all jump on the boxer? There are very very few in this world who actualy want to go to another country to fight their guy before trying to get the fight in thier back yard first... mkaing a fight with two class fighters is buying a car noone accepts the first offer lol or the second or third for that matter, its all mind games and trying to get the best for your guy....
Thirdly, can anyone BLAME calzaghe or warren for wanting it in wales? people keep nut sucking taylor for his hard fights with a hopkins who really didn't give a fuck and 2 light middle weights (now don't get me wrong i like taylor alot but thats the fact of it) now the really truth - ONE of his last four have been a non contreversial result... no calzaghe prone from hand injury lost alot of power is not gunna wanna walts straight into the states to fight a guy who in alot of peoples opinion should be 1 - 3 from his last 4 fights...
Now again let me stress i would like to see Joe take taylor in the states, it would be better for him now and in the long run... but hell all this hate and snide remarks are just sad....
If this fight fell through 'coz Joe wudn't go there than hell id be as pissed if not more pissed than anyone 'coz i really think he can take taylor... but whilst they are still talking it seems pointless ot bitch moan and hate on a guy.. fuck me taylor hasn't even fought his fight yet...
Re: Big Bad Jermain Taylor AFRAID to go to Wales.
and yeah ice, joe does have a life contarct with warren...

I'm sure if you took the paypeview reveniew away from Lewis's earnings Eubanks wouldn't look so bad in comparison.
And why is it that Lennox became a ppv commodity to begin with? Because he made a name for himself by making big fights, somethink Eubanks didn't take advantage of.
Correct me if I'm wrong.. but Eubank's career was pretty much over by 1995 about the same time as Lewis got KTFO by McCall and wasn't even a PPV attraction yet.
I don't think there was even the existance of such an animal as PPV boxing before 1995? Its a little hard to make moneys off something that don't exist ;)
Um, dude, Mike Tyson v. Michael Spinks was ppv, and that happened all the way back in 1988 ::**
ok I stand corrected.
but before 1995 was there any PPV events below Heavyweight? no.
Hairdoo, both Toney-Jones and Whitaker-Chavez were ppv(both took place in 1994), and I happen to know for a fact that Chavez-Camacho was ppv as well and that happened back in '92 (I know this because back then it was before most people had cable boxes, and you could simply turn to the ppv channel and even though it was scrambled, you could hear the fight live (I wanted to order it but my dad wouldn't pay for it and he told me to just listen to it :D)
ok I accept defeat and realise I have made a mountain out of a mole hill. ;D

Just wandering for my own reasons, but wasn't Cooney-Holmes a ppv event? Could have swore we had to pay for that. Anybody?
