I've never seen Sultan fight before but if Briggs can counter him the way he did Liakhovich he can definitely take him out of his game somewhat. Liakhovich stopped throwing the same, even though he was winning, after Briggs countered him. One thing with Briggs' size is he is probably the hardest puncher in the division; he just can't throw that many blows. The story of his last fight was absolutely told in the final round when Briggs had nothing left and pulled something out of nothing to take advantage of a hurt Liakhovich. I think Shannon is heavier this fight and I'm guessing he's intending on smothering Ibragimov with his weight; laying on him and occasionally punching until the much smaller man gives. It's how Valuev defeated Monte Barrett (even though Valuev has much better stamina) and it could be a very effective tactic. Of course if Sultan is on his toes throughout the fight and is good at getting in and getting out then Briggs is in for a beating and very likely a short one. Don't let the beard fool you--Briggs has a mediocre chin at best and if I'm estimating him right Sultan will have the ability to crack it.
I would consider ordering this PPV, except that I'm still recovering from Briggs-Liakhovich.
Did you see the Ibragimov vs. Ray Austin match? How the hell can you honestly think that Ibragimov has more SKILL than Briggs? Shannon Briggs is hands down the most athletic and naturally talented HW in the world. His punches have great form and power, particularly his left hook. He is a natural. Ibragimov may have more wind, and possibly a better chin, but more skill? No way.Quote:

Right.... because Briggs has a chin of granite. Ever see him stumbling all over the ring against Lennox? If Briggs is so amazingly talented, then why has he accomplished virtually nothing in his career?Quote:

LanceMeMick (Would have sounded cooler in the movie)
How can anyone not think that? Hell, all Ibragimov has to do is run around him all night like that Charlie Chaplin clip you posted. If Sultan can't keep away from Briggs smokesignal haymakers and win this fight on points he shouldn't be in the fight game to begin with.
Briggs ain't s*** but a muscled up gori... orangutan.
hahahaha, why the disdain for Briggs?? I've never seen Sultan fight, can anyone describe his style?Quote:

I saw the fight and i have never seen a guy that had so little left just stay in there hitmandonny
Right, had so little left after doing asbolutley nothing. Which means he had very little to start with. 0 - 0 = 0
He could still win tomorrow but it's not the smart bet.
