agreed.. Marciano would have been a tough match for anyone.
In my opinion the pugilist of the past had the mental toughness .. . they were able to overcome the adversity in the ring , willing to dig deep during the dark portions of a match , often turning a match around on sheer will .
Today you have better training, more knowledge,, in some cases better technique, yet over all , there are lower levels of raw determination factor, . Sure if everything is going good a fighter will look fantastic.. But what happens when he gets caught? What happens when he is floored , can he get up? Is he willing to get up ? can he turn it up and get the KO when he is behind on points? There are only a handful of modern day fighters that posses that mental toughness and fortitude that was so prevalent in yesteryear.

Marciano knocked out guys who were on social security. Lennox might not have been a guy who could take a great punch, but he didnt have to. He had that right hand. Now if you are talking about a Marciano who weighs 250 that would be interesting. But I still think Lewis lands the right.
