I can only imagine its because Morales wants to win a belt and finish on a high. Diaz is being seen as the least difficult path to doing that.
I hope Morales wins and then retires...who knows though?! ???

If he loses then he might retire, but I guarantee if he wins he is going to do something dangerous. Casamayor has been having hell getting any fights and now his belt is gone...that wouldn't surprise me.
I'm almost rooting for Diaz to win this just because I don't want to see Eric fight on.

There are differences. MAB's 2 KO losses to Jones were over a decade ago, early in his career (and it took him a few years to get over them). Morales is much older than Barrera was then.
Yes, Barrera also took the beating against Pac, but he has not been in the same number of wars as Morales. Morales has been in two epic trologies, and has also had wars against the likes of Zaragoza, Injin Chi, etc. Barrera made a big switch in his style before the Hamed fight to become more of a boxer. if Barrera never changed, he wouldn't still be an effective fighter today. Morales never did that, he has been a high-contact fighter his whole career.
Also, a BIG factor, is that Morales' body has been greatly worn down over the years because he has had to starve himself over and over again to make weight. That kills a fighter's body and makes a fighter older than he really is. Barrera never had the struggles with weight that Erik had.
wow now I know how smart you are sweetpea ;D what k.o loss are you talking about ???
the only man to k.o mab is pacman. I guess you didn't know that. proves how educated you are.
jones beat mab the first one was by DQ the second one was by UD.
take notes kid you just learn something, get back at me if you want to get schooled again ;D
This post is so juvenile that it's not even worth a response.
However, I'll respond so I can use this as an opportunity to teach a valuable lesson:
Kids, don't ever say you "schooled" another poster when you don't even know the facts and are using boxrec to get all your info.
Example, Mr. Julius Rain thinks Barrera didn't get KO'd, even though anyone who watched the fight knows that Barrera (after getting knocked down once already) was trapped against the ropes, getting nailed with punches, and was out on his feet, when his cornerman ran into the ring to save him. Hence, it's listed as a DQ, because his cornerman ran into the ring instead of throwing in the towel from the corner.
Thanks for playing, Julius.

Yeah, I know exactly what you are saying. Its a tricky one, I only hope that he wins and retires. What he actually decides to do is something else. All we can do is hope and wait. :-\

saved yourself once, I give you that fight mab was in trouble the first time but hey he wasn't out was he really?
did you forget to mention the second fight whats your excuse there buddy?
Re: Erik Morales vs David Diaz
Hahaha, yes he really was out and had the corner just thrown the towell instead of running in then it would have been a KO.
And what are you even bringing up the second fight for? He never said anything about it nor is he making excuses for anything.

Actually, now that I look back at my first post, I did mistakenly say that Barrera had 2 KO losses to Jones, which is incorrect. The second fight was a decision.
However, this doesn't change the fact that Julius is in kindergarten.
Re: Erik Morales vs David Diaz
People will always want to compare Eric and Marco because of their tremendous trilogy...but they are different fighters. Marco started as a brawler but evolved into a boxer/brawler in the latter part of his career...and switches between the 2 styles very smartly. Eric, even though he has great technical skill, allowed his pride to get him into too many wars where he could have boxed himself to victory. I love both fighters...but Eric, even though it was entertaining for us fans, wore himself out. Ultimately, you cannot blame him...he just had tremendous heart and pride. Marco on the other hand is as smart a fighter as anyone in the business. At this point...i just wish Morales would retire. He has nothing left to prove and in the last Pac fight...he looked like he had lost his fire.
Re: Erik Morales vs David Diaz
I am rooting for EM. He is one classy dude. . . I think he still has 2- 5 years left in him. I think going to a higher weight class will do him good. His father thinks he still has it. He obviously is not doing it for the money. He is doing it for himself. He wants to prove to himself that he is not washed out as others portray him to be. If he loses then he himself will decide his fate. So I am calling all EM fans to come out and support him. It is in times like these that EM needs our support.

Say Morales wins (but still looks old), and then Marquez can't get a fight with either Pac or MAB, would Marquez take the big money and fight Morales at 135? Ya, he might. And I think he would beat up Erik.
That's my worry too, I really hopre Morales can do it and then retires quickly

Ya, but that's not Erik. He's a fighter thru and thru. If he wins, there's no way I can see him retiring. He's going to fight until he gets it completely beaten out of him. He acted like it after the last Pac loss, when he gave somewhat of a retirement speech to Merhcant.

God I hope EM loses badly/quickly. I do not have the heart to stomach Pac's fan base elevating him Zeus like status.
