So which relevant questions should he have asked?
Guess you missed my original topic..
"Why were there no questions like; what was your strategy? what did you see? what adjustments did you make if any? Did you notice Castillo seemed off? Finally the closing question was about PBF?!?!? what about bringing up other fighters he could defend his title against?...."
What was Hatton supposed to respond with to Max's question? what was the answer Max was asking for? Did anyone think Hatton would respond with "Your a genius Max, Castillo was totally shot and I just wanted to take an easy HBO payday. I wanted my fans to waste their airfare from the UK to watch me beat up a has been in person, yes Max Castillo was shot because you said so...now please tell me about PBF again..."
While Max was get lathered up again over the heavier and (for now) retired pbf he disregarded a guy in Hatton's weight class that won the previous week on hbo, Paullie Malinaggi...no mention, which is more than sloppy since these questions are usually scripted to a degree.

Why were there no questions like; what was your strategy? what did you see? what adjustments did you make if any? Did you notice Castillo seemed off? Lampley has always called out imaginary punches he sees thrown, basically saying what ever pops into his mellon...he always tries to create imaginary controversy and if Lamps was watching the fight instead of fixing his hair he would have noticed that Castillo was warned twice before having a point deducted...again Lampley has no business calling pro fights, imo
I feel sorry for Manny having to sit next to these two fools...HBO knows how to do it right and all they have to do is look at the Mallinaggi - Ndou fight and the way it was handled expertly by Bob Poppa and the way he called the action while using Lennox and Merchant appropriately...
CC promoter. I noticed the same thing. Kellerman was terrible. Kellerman would say something and Emanual would correct him and then Lampley would just say the same thing both those guys were saying over. They all were doing the same role. Then Harold Lederman was commentating also and it was a big mess. I hope Kellerman does not stay with HBO. That was a terrible call to hire him. And I agree why would he mention if Castillo was washed up? That really makes HBO look good when he says the big fight they have been advertising was not worth it because Castillo was a shot fighter.
Thanks Legend...CC back at you.

I'm guessing the reason the question was about PBF as opposed to Malignaggi is that Hatton has stated roughly a million times that he wants a big fight against someone like Floyd or Oscar.
If Hatton had been campaigning for a fight with Paulie Malignaggi, then that would have been an interesting question. But he's not.
The interview was fine.

There was no interview; so if it was already stated that Hatton wants pbf, Max knew his answer. Nothing was learned and it was a waste of time...but if you enjoyed it more power to you.
Re: Lampley and Kellerman are worthless
Hey at least HBO commentary isn't as bad as showtimes commentary i cant stand listen to them.

and as far as going for kayo's..hatton is still fighting at his natural weight..floyd has moved up 4 weight divisions in four years... kinda hard to kayo guys naturally bigger than you...as hatton found out against collazo and immediately moved back down even though he said he'd give collazo a rematch...
Hatton doesn't have the frame to move up divisions...his arms are tiny and he HAS to fight on the inside it's no different than Floyd not having any power

Hatton has his style and you can feel free to complain about it but hey his fans like it and you can't knock them for liking it
100% dead on Lyle ;D
FYI Ricky is just as undefeated as Floyd is
Re: Lampley and Kellerman are worthless
even if castillo is shot hatton beat him like he was a shot fighter. it wasn't like he struggle with him.
Re: Lampley and Kellerman are worthless
Kellerman is crap and has always been so. His goofball prescence just wants to make me kick the tv screen. I dont know how anybody can consider him a worthy successor to Larry Merchant. Ever. Seriously. >:mad
What an utter airhead. He'd be better on a beauty pageant with blond hair, a lack of stubble and nice legs. A shame it wasnt to be. :-\

Re: Lampley and Kellerman are worthless
....I will admit I liked Max in studio on ESPN FNF better
I still think Max would be very good if HBO decided to do a Boxing Show a la The Sports Reporters on ESPN. Get Max, Bert Sugar, Bob Papa, Larry Merchant, and some guests Teddy Atlas, Manny Steward, Freddy Roach, Lennox Lewis, Ray Leonard....etc....I wish they would do that once or twice a month wouldn't take much to do, throw highlights together, come up with some hypothetical fights/boxing news and talk about them....it would get a good reception from boxing fans

Even on ESPN I thought he was overrated and a guy who gets over excited about nothing. I am not sure how the guy appeals to anyone. Merchant is a class act. Do I think there are young guys out there who can match Merchant? Yeah, go where Merchant started out and hire a newspaper guy.
Re: Lampley and Kellerman are worthless
I just think it's so childish and immature on how they argue with each other, and how each guy always has to be right. Manny Steward is my favorite simply because his ego doesn't get in the way when someone disagrees with him.. I've muted the TV several times because of this.

I guess you'd rather watch a comentator lick PBF's balls?!?!...listen to Kellerman and every interview or discussion he finds some way to bring up PBF, he's worse than John Madden bringing up Brett Favre...absolutely pathetic...
Because first PBF is who Hatton has wanted since 2004, and second Castillo was shot. They seem like perfectly reasonable questions to me. Hatton hasn't been calling out Cotto or Margarito.

That happens more now since you have two guys who think they are experts.. Manny is the real expert and Max thinks he is . Jim is just a guy who moderates. I think Jim Lampley works well with Larry Merchant since he is a similar age and generation. When he and Max worked together a few days ago they seemed out of sorts. I guess Jim and Max are a similar seperation in age than Jim and Larry, but Jim and Larry are more of the old style of broadcasting. Actually the onetime I remember two guys sort of arguing is when Hagler was commentating for Hearns/Roldan in 1987 and he and Gil argued a point during the bout what side Hearns should move from Roldan. Well obviously Hagler knew better since at that point he had fought both of them and knew both guys in the ring.
