Re: What did you think of Hatton's performance?
I'll give him a 9 out of 10. I thought he was outstanding.
As for him being successful at 147 with his style...I think his problems at 147 are more about his size than his style. He's just too small for 147. Some fighters can move up and be just as good, but I don't see Hatton being able to do it. He's fast, he has skill, and he can punch, but I don't see it translating to WW. Bring Cotto down to 140 and I think Hatton wins, but bring Hatton up 147 and Cotto wins. Same for Tony...though I think Hatton would stand a better chance against Tony, even at 147. Hatton has a perfect body for 140, whereas a guy like Cotto is bigger and natural WW who was fighting below his natural division for a long time.

Not against a top 5 welterweight.
The welterweight division is full of guys right now who are just as talented (or more talented) as Hatton, but they're also bigger.
I think both Mayweather or Cotto would beat Hatton soundly. I would favor Margarito, Mosley, and Clottey against him as well.
Re: What did you think of Hatton's performance?
the funny about when hatton stop castillo is thats when castillo was starting to get into the fight. in the first two rounds castillo look terrible but in the 3rd and fourth he was finding his mark. so i don't think it's fare to say that hatton beat a shot castillo. hatton was just the better man.
Re: What did you think of Hatton's performance?
sweetpea i normaly agree with you but i like hatton over cotto.

Based on what? In what areas is Hatton superior to Cotto?

cotto leaves himself wideopen on defence..
cotto leaves himself open for the left hook to the body(the left hook landed on casttillo last night would have floored cotto for ten) and cotto leaves himself open to uppercuts when he is coming in and is open to straight crosses to the head..
i respect cotto and think he would have a good chance of beating hatton because i basically think he is a bigger version of hatton...
but hatton has much better hand speed, his foot work is easliy as good and he takes a good punch, probably better than cotto takes one....
if cotto was natrually hatton's size i would say hatton would win.. hatton has more experience and a better chin.. but at 147 its a different story
so i think hatton is 3 at welter possibly 1...
no one really knows yet

Margarito would KTFO Hatton, inside. Hatton would be eating Tony's uppercuts all night long and if Hatton was shaken to his boots by Collazo,I doubt he could take Margarito's volume of punches. There would be such a height difference and if he tried to hold Tony,he would get pushed aside. No way Hatton beats Margarito.

Disagree totally. Cotto is open to the body but Hatton is even more open imo.Punch for punch,I think Cotto hits far harder to the body than Hatton. Cottos stamina is amazing at WW,Hatton's is unproven. Hatton would be able to land his uppercuts.but people forget,Hatton rushes in,without using a jab,he would get timed by Miguel's hooks all night long. And with Hattons rushing in,he smothers his own punches. Just because he beat JLC does not mean he would beat Cotto. I still favour Miguel to stop him late,it would make for a great fight though.

cotto would probably win but...
hatton would easily hit cotto harder than he has ever been hit...
yes cotto would time and hit him, and yes cotto hits hard to the body but you have to remember hatton's handspeed is superior and hatton takes a better punch...
torres can drop cotto so can hatton... i think hatton would be much, much more difficult for cotto than what you all think...
before hatton got "knocked out in the 10th" he would batter cotto's body and face with left hooks and right crosses... believe me
Re: What did you think of Hatton's performance?
I give hatton an 8.
He was a little wild and its questionable if he could actually last at that pace but he was on fire and he completely mugged the other man. Plus that body shot came when it started to look like Castillo was wising up to the body shots.
I know some people hate hattons mugging style but i think its what makes him so special.
Re: What did you think of Hatton's performance?
8 outa 10
but its the same for him mayweather and cotto...unless they fight eachother they can never be great imo. onli if they fight eachother can people hav no complaints like
mosely is shot
margarito was neva any good
de la hoya was shot, not the same fighter
castillo was shot, not the same fighter
etcetc, because if they do beat these guys people will say that, weather tis truth or not
they are the only 3 that can make one of them a ledgend, one of them a great fighter and one of them a very good fighter
Re: What did you think of Hatton's performance?
If truth be told, Hatton was fantastic, and what he proved was that he was a serious top class fighter when faced with top class opposition. If he went to 147 with less of a gap between the fight I think he would look good. He's similar to Cotto in alot of ways. I think the two would put on a great match. IMO, he's fighting Oscar next and I think he'd beat him. I don't think Oscar will have the hunger for it, and I think he'll be weight drained from stepping down to a catchweight.

Would he be effective if he moves up we will find out the big names are all their Mosely,Cotto,Margerito,Mayweather if he does'nt retire and even De La Hoya.
Exciting it was more frustrating for me the holding really does my head in the atmosphere of the fight was exciting.
Haha, for a brit you really hate the top British fighters don't ya? After watching that, how can you say Hatton wasn't amazing yet still look to praise Junior Witter? You make some great comments Tyson, but this one is a shocker.
Re: What did you think of Hatton's performance?
Why do people go on saying castillo is shot just cos hatton battered the hell out of him. Do you not think that hatton made him look that way because hatton is actually a far superior fighter?
Hatton won all 4 rounds confortably and then KO'd his ass! Once again alot of the american public and media all said castillo will win this fight and once again hatton totally proved them all wrong. Now instead of praising hatton all they do is say castillo is shot!
Anyone saying this take a good look at themselves as they obviously know F*ck All about boxing or they are just plain hatton hatters.
Re: What did you think of Hatton's performance?
No. People were saying Castillo was shot long before Hatton got to him on both sides of the Atlantic and before you start, yes, I don't like the spoiling and hugging I never have and it is different to using footwork to keep out the way of your opponents attacks and that's my long standing gripe against Hatton.

i asked what is the difference between 3 to 4 punch hold hatton and 3 and 4 punch run mayweather....
hit and dont get hit.... thats been mayweather fans mantra..
hatton fans should be able to use it too.... ;D
that being said hatton is still more exciting and mayweather is more skilled O0
