I would think that fighting Miguel Cotto with a broken bone in his face would get some respect around here. Guess not.
i dont get the hate either???
he didnt just take cotto the distance with a broken cheek bone...
but he also accepted the dangerous fight at an early point in his career.. both reasons for respect
has a high boxing ability speed, footwork, comb speed
i dont think he would beat hatton...
i was thinking that paulie would be more of a problem for hatton but after further thought: paulie doesnt run, he will box and he would get f***** up.. as bas as cotto beat him
but he would take the beating like a man

Hatton is in a different class! Hatton has bigger fish to fry!!!
Like who? at 140 since he isn't moving to 147 again. Who at 140 is a bigger fish to fry?
Re: would Malignaggi ramrod of a jab stop hatton?
Who said he isnt moving to 147 again?
I was impressed with the way Malignaggi handled N'Dou, but lets remember, it was N'dou. He holds a title that Hatton has won on two previous occasions, one of them against a great champion. Malignaggi needs to beat something more than Lovemore N'Dou to get a shot at the undisputed champion.
Re: would Malignaggi ramrod of a jab stop hatton?
In the process of taking a beating from cotto though..
And let have it right..It doesnt matter who it is..Your gona get a beating when you fight cotto..
He got a bad cut from a headbutt litterally within 15 seconds of the fight..AND fought back a few rounds and he wasnt even fighting his fight..He was far too macho and willing to trade and he still handled what cotto gave him like a man..
Busted cheekbone aswell..Still fighting..
But like paulie said..Whether it was about cotto or hatton it applies to both.. When you fight him your gona take a beating..Its whether i can take enough rounds in the process to win the fight..
And its true..And do-able

Who though? Witter? D-hop? Harris? As shallow as the talent is at 140, I feel Paulie is equal in rank to Witter.
I would think that Hatton at the very least would give a comparison of Cotto to Hatton.
Look at it like this Malignaggi was able to last 12 rounds with Cotto with a dam broken face.
That gives a benchmark to see how Hatton could comparibly do to Cotto.
If Hatton stops Malignaggi, well then he can say look I beat the guy that you beat
and I beat him quicker or better etc. etc.
Paulie IS THE most popular American light welter ATM and is well part of the HBO
family. So if Hatton is to continue his American conquest, that would be a good
choice.
Re: would Malignaggi ramrod of a jab stop hatton?
I think Hatton gives Malinaggi a one sided beating, Cotto-esque. Hatton's pressure and speed will nullify the movement and speed advantages that Paullie normally enjoys...I also don't believe Paullie has the power to gain Hatton's respect...But oddly I'd like to see this fight for several reasons;
1) Paullie believes he can beat Hatton
2) Paullie is young and in his prime so Hatton won't take any grief about fighting a shot fighter
3) Paullie has heart, skill and will fight...It would be a classic Boxer VS Brawler matchup.

I think Hatton's biggest tests at 140 all fight at 135! Juan Diaz and Joel Casamayor are the only 2 fights I'd like to see that aren't at 147lbs for Hatton.

Juan Diaz and Joel Casamayor. Malignaggi getting pounded on is just too fresh in the memory, ok Casamayor has been beaten by Castillo but has came back strong and made a big impression after beating the late diego Corrales :tombstone:
And the Juan Diaz fight was very close to being made the first time, but since his performance against Freitas, he'd be a more than acceptable opponent if Hatton wasn't stepping up, but he IS stepping up I think, his confidence must be through the roof at the minute and a move up to 147 would come better than ever at this minute.

Do you think Hatton could get down to 135? I would guess he would have a hard time.
But if he could 135 is a much stronger division IMO lots of options, I'd back that.
For the record, Hatton vs. Juan Diaz would be an awesome match-up, as it would showcase
both of there styles. Honestly though, I don't think that Casamayor nor Juan have the drawing
power of Malignaggi, which speaking truthfully is the only reason that people come to America.

No the fights would have to be at 140lbs, Casamayor is pretty big for a Lightweight, and Diaz has a good style match up, I think they'd both come up for the career high purse and the chance to become a p4p top 10, and a BIG top name star in the sport. The Diaz fight was nearly made a while back but it fell through so it seems he ain't scared of going to 140. Both of these fights would have to be made in the UK as well to make the money, if 10,000 Hatton fans pay £1000 to see Castillo in Vegas, 100,000 Hatton fans would pay £100 to see it in the City of Manchester Stadium, it's a guaranteed sell out IMO.

While I think you bring up some great options, all of the recent things I've heard for all the Diaz's, Casamayor, Campbell
are all kinda looking for unification type stuff. I don't know that moving up in weight at this point in any of their careers against such a dangerous fighter would make sense, of course if the money's right............

Well I'm thinking with my wallet to be honest, that's the question I ask myself, "would I buy this fight?" How much would I sacrifice in order to see this fight live, because that's what promoters should be thinking if their doing their jobs.

Which is why from a promoters standpoint, I would still say Malignaggi is the best option as he is young tested against Cotto and has the best draw. Let's be honest here Hatton has enough fans that will watch him fight regardless of who it's against that you really have to look at how many people will the opponent bring to the table. Which in this case I
have to give that crown to Paulie. I'm with you on the Diaz vs. Hatton would be a hell of a match-up, possibly one that
could have a record for most punches thrown and also the one that I like the most compared to all that have been discussed. CC dan I haven't spoken with you in a while, always a good discussion with you.....

Cheers bro, I'll have to get you in 24, and I saw your post before about being upset about Castillo, I was too and after watching the body shot a few times, it did wrench me a bit because I honestly never though I'd ever see him fold like that. I think he can comeback, stick him in with Witter and it's bound to have a happy ending ;)
