Ricky would get huge props if he went to 147 and fought there.And if he really wants to cement his legacy,that is what he will do. He only has a few fights left due to his style,why not go out with a bang. It would be nice to see a fighter fight like a warrior to cement his legacy and not as a businessman etc.
to everyone who keep saying "a legend,hell no!" no one is saying he is..it was a "what if" what if he sayed at 140 and beat everyone from top to bottom his record could be like 70-0 and that would make him a legend....so everyone who's just ready to jump all over the idea with their "hell no, and no way," comments should read first then reply...
I agree with JonesJrMayweather somewhat, but i gotta say, Ricky will never make 70 fights....
His own Bodyclock is against him, preventing him from ever achieving that feat.
So as an alternative he is forced to preform a smaller number of greater feats....
Climbing to 147 is the Key to making Ricky a legend.

he could make 60 easy..and to be 60 - 0 and one or two solid welterweight wins will make him a legend....so get the 60 first for it will look more impressive than losing @ 147 then going back down....Quote:

man i wish he was 5'8 or 9 with a natrual body for 147... his fight w/ cotto would be insane if they were the same weight..... but a win over a bigger cotto would do even more for his legacy...

not really, for cotto-hatton wouldn't be as big a test for him because he wouldn't have to overcome that much in terms of disadvantages....mayweather is far more dangerous than cotto in terms of exposing or embarrasing him..because he's never seen the likes of mayweather...Quote:

There is no win win situation for Hatton. I'd say go to 147,risk fighting a big guy like Cotto. You're way off JonesJunior,Floyd at 147 and most likely 154,has been superb defensively but offensively,he is not as good as he used to be so the chances of him "embaressing" anyone are very very slim. He would potshot and win a ud,thats not embaressing. Whereas against Cotto,Hatton is more likely to get KTFO. Did Floyd embaress Zab,Baldo,Oscar? No.
if 120-108 isn't embarassing i don't know what is...and oscar is a far better and bigger threat than hatton, not to mention it was PBF first fight at 154...and considering styles hatton would get hit with more than pot shots he'd get hit about 300 times if he makes it to twelve...floyd land over 50% power punches hatton would be a mobile heavy bag...Quote:

Floyd would beat Hatton but I doubt he would embaress him. Hatton would have his moments.
if he beats hatton 120-108 or even 118-110 that's embarassing considering hatton's style which is damn near impossible to escape..and if floyd manages to do so...hatton would not only be battered from being hit on the way in he'd be tired from all his misses....Quote:

I can see Floyd being a lot more aggresive with hatton than in previous fights and perhaps this will make iot a more open fight and perhaps easier for Hatton to work...
Personally, I think Hatton has a fair way to go before he becomes a living legend, because he will need to win once or twice more at light-welter, at least one against Paulie, before returning to Welterweight, and really making a go of it. A win against either Cotto or Mayweather Jr would probably put him into the 'All-time great' category, even if he does go on to lose once or twice if he is just taking big fights.
