Re: TOP TEN WHITE HEAVYWEIGHTS OF ALL TIME
Schemelling & Baer deserve mentions too
Re: TOP TEN WHITE HEAVYWEIGHTS OF ALL TIME
this i funny because cutmemick labeled me a troll....now this is a topic in which he might have had a case....if you interpet it that way...and it weird because race is so rarely seen as the backdrop of a topic on this forum...
but neverthless i'll say vitaly, dempsey, marciano, botha, johannson, cooney, tunney, vlad, ivan drago, and balboa
Re: TOP TEN WHITE HEAVYWEIGHTS OF ALL TIME
forgot that all four of the heavyweight belt holders currently are white....

I totally agree.....although i don't think this topic was started from one of those perspectives..that one of the things i love about this site i may be just missing it but rarely does anyone bring race into boxing here....and that's how it should be
I wasn't really trying to say this was racist, I was just making the point that it's pointless catagorising the two skin colours separately when discussing the best. Why would you want to?
ah mate your statment is the kind of pc crap that make me :puke: to be honest
I guess asking who the best British fighters of all time are is wrong as well as we should not allow ourselves to be seperated by ideas of nationhood? ???
If it's acceptable (and it is) to discuss the best Mexican fighters, or best Europeans etc then it is also entirely acceptable to discuss the best White or Black fighters.
It's always the pc brigade that bring racism into everything. This wasn't a thread about colour or race at all before but now you have made it so............ :-\
Read what I said. I never said it was racist. To be honest, I hate political correctness. But my argument on this one is that I just don't catagorise by skin colour. It's just silly. Would you start a top saying "who are the top ten heavies with brown hair?" or "who are the top ten heavies with brown nipples?"
I see no point to naming them, because being white has no relevence to how good a boxer you are. It's not a variable of skill.
To me that is political correctness. You are basically saying that there is no difference between races, which in terms of equality is correct but they ARE still different races. As I said before would you be uequally bemused by a best Mexican fighter thread as you don't see nationalities, or best southpaw thread because you don't see different stances?
Having brown or blonde hair is a world apart from being of a different race altogether. We should all celebrate our differences rather than try and cover them up.
Arguing that black, white, asians etc are all equal is one thing, and I agree entirely. Arguing that they are all identical and exactly the same is just political correctness gone insane.
What about a top woman boxers thread? I mean is that pointless because you don't see the sexuality?
What you say makes no sense to me at all to be honest

Exactly. We get the crusading justice league acting like preachers when the fact they are so over-sensitive about it makes me think they are the real racist ones!
I hope bzkfn is never a witness to a crime:
Q: "Can you decribe the perpetrator?"
A: It was a human.
Q: "Can you describe them for us ...sex, race, hair color, height?"
A: No, that would be racist.

I do understand what you're saying, but again, I'd like to point out that I never once said this guy was racist for making this topic.
Secondly, it's a difficult subject. See by saying "white" heavyweights, your excluding all other skin colours but at the same time grouping together Rocky Marciano & Sultan Ibragimov. They're from two completely different countries, and do not fight similarly. Why exclude someone who's black from the list of top ten heavies?
Do you see what I'm saying? Nobody is the same, hence why I just base my top ten lists on their attributes.
