Re: Pacquiao Barrera II October 6th
A great champion like Marco...who has shown he is capable of coming back from tough defeats...should be given the benefit of the doubt about his performance in the first fight. Sure...he ain't young anymore...but he is one of those rare fighters that got better with age. He has learned to use his skill and mind as much as his all out brawl style. Not sure if he will have enough left in the tank to beat Pac...but he will give Manny a war. Manny has been fighting sub par competition his last few fights (including a completely done Morales in the third fight) and has looked far from spectacular. He also always seems to have a million distractions in his life...whether it's his management, political/film/music career, etc. He is a tremendous athlete who has improved somewhat skill wise...but he is still by no means a multi faceted fighter. So if he isn't completely focused and ready against an incredibly skilled and intelligent fighter like Barrera...he can lose. For those who would rather see Pac fight Soto...i think that's ridiculous. While Soto is an intriguing prospect with great power...he has fought no one of worth...and is still a bit one dimensional. Marquez and Guzman was not going to happen for obvious reasons...so we should be happy to see this rematch. I know Barrera will be the underdog...but i have enough faith in him to pull out one last great performance...win, lose, or draw.
Re: Pacquiao Barrera II October 6th
Could you imagine if Barrera won this fight? I'd be absolutely overjoyed, he ain't the favourite and everyone is gonna write him off but the besr version of Barrera can win this fight if everything goes to plan. Does the best version of Barrera still exist? I doubt it, but I hope so.

Prime Barrera physically fought at 122 but he has more experience now and a better boxing brain these days

We'll see . Barrera was written off in the 1st Morales fight and fought the fight of his life . People made him the underdog vs Nas but he skooled him . He was a big underdog in the decider with Erik but he beat him and they said he was slipping vs Juarez but came back to box better than ever . How many times does Barrera have to make fools of people before they accept how great he is . Now they are saying this is an easy fight for Pac . Keep believing it and I hope Pac does aswell . Just remember Miles and myself have been picking Barrera since day 1

Interesting , Pac has improved but its how about how you perform on the night . Last time he had it all to prove . This time he may be a little over confident and expecting an easy win . Also Mab will be more focused this time . He Knows the size of the task and wont be taken by surprise this time

What pisses me off is if Pac losses, then pac-haters will say... "Pac got his azz kicked by a washed up fighter". But if Pac wins... they'll say "Pac defeated a washed up fighter".
Good point . I agree

Yeah if he didnt want this fight he wouldnt have taken it . He obvioulsy thinks now is the right time with retirement in sight . He is ready for one last war and I think he'll win it .
Re: Pacquiao Barrera II October 6th
. . . Also another point is Pac is inconsistant ! Whenever he is expected to perform well he doesnt . Hes the type of fighter who rises to an occassion and when he feels he has an easy job on his hands , he is lackluster . He was an underdog vs Barrera and fought out of his skin but that that was followed by porr displays vs Marquez and Morales. Then fighting for his career he was great again in the two rematches. He was expected to blow away Larios and Solis but struggled . Now he is expected to handle Barrera easily but I doubt he will
Freddie has been saying this is an easy fight and subconcioulsy Pac will belive it as he has beaten him already so Pac isnt guna be 100% focused IMO . Barrera will be and Pac has never met a focused Barrera before. Its a totally different proposition, just as Juarez the difference between Barrera expected to win and a Barrera with it all to prove .
The boots on the other foot going into this rematch and Pac is in for a shock .

Believe.. Barrera goes into this fight with more momentum then you think
Barrea beat marquez last time out and whether or not he beats pac..Although it would be sweet.. He puts up a war ;)
Im talking pac- morales one.. But i believe barrera carries more power to these 'higher' divisions ..Compared to the roots of pac em and mab of course..
I love to see barrera fight these big fights at this age.. This is when he is most exiting imo
The juarez performances.. The second a clinc the first an entertaining close fight,
The third morales fight was clearly marcos but close in a way and bery entertaining
Marquez taken past the limits pac threw at him by barrera.. aside from the decision..Its close and al fair play but the score was bs and a mis justice.. But barrera still has it.. and i feel god about the fight..
He is my light Latino Bhop :)
I think my ;) face gave off the impression that I don't think Barrera has a chance, when in reality it's quite the contrary. I believe he has as good of a chance as he ever will from this point on. Pac is coming off the political campaign fiasco, and MAB is coming off a loss which always seems to motivate him to fight on another level. PAC is definitely the favorite, but I wouldn't hesitate to take MAB as a very live dog.
I think he carries more momentum going into this fight after a 'loss' then ever before..
Its certainly the most impressive and scorching loss i ever saw ;)
Marco is my man and he never got off in the first pac fight..
If he does half as well as he did in the marquez fight then i thinnk this is a very close entertaining fight..
But at the same time has anyone considered this concept:
Not that barrera needs any more to his resume to show people of what a legend he is..
But if this fight ends up to be his own version of pac - morales 1..
Then perhaps there will even be a rubber match..
And aside from erik and few others i cant think of a fighter who was great enough and fought in a generation good enough to have given him so many memorable legendary fights against great oposition..
Marco already imo is one of the greatest of all time.. Some Huge wins at this stage of his career could put him at the top unquestionably
Re: Pacquiao Barrera II October 6th
lil dissapointed to read this...
I love barrea, and while i don't think he is shot, he is close to being a shadow of what he was... he can still box on theoutside well, but in his last 3 fights has showed nod esire to take big hits and go to war.
All marco wants to do now is stay on the outside box and coast to a 12 DC... pac will press this fight from the openeing bell, i just don't think barrera has the desire to got to hell and back like the many times he done in the past.
Re: Pacquiao Barrera II October 6th
I think Barrera puts on one last great performance beats Pac and retires

Still, Barrera has pulled the rabbit out of the hat many times before so I'm still going to be cautiously optimistic about this from the Barrera standpoint.
I will politely disagree, Amat! ;)
Barrera isnt stupid. He doesnt want to get beaten up as a final fare well! He believes he can win. I believe so too...
Pac has fooled many by the early stoppage of Morales..
That was not the Moralesthat most know...
so you totally forgot the fact that pac whopped mabs a*** before?
the heart of a fighting champion is there but i doubt if mab's body can still pull it off.
I havent forgotten anything. Yes, Pac stopped Barrera, but lightning seldom strikes in the same place twice. :)
in boxing yes it does! does EMvPAC 2 and 3 ring a bell?
but i would prefer PAC vs JMM, jmm is the only guy who almost stopped pac. a decisive win over jmm will help pac alot as one of the best boxer p4p.

Its a possibility that he might have one more if he wins. I hope he doesnt though. He has nothing to prove by fighting Marquez again.
Im happy to see some of the old Barrera faithful standing by their words in this thread. Barrera is being underestimated again, and it isnt the first time this has happened as we all know. Pac is being placed on a pedestal despite not looking all that hot last time out. Barrera "lost" in a close fight to a fighter readily making the top 10 pound for pound on many a list. Barrera still has it and the Marquez fight shows it.
A Pac rematch will NOT be a blow out in 6 as Ive heard suggested on this thread. No way.
It will be a close fight, but with the right preparation and homework then Barrera can take the decision.
Barrera has done it before, he can do it again....surprise the lot of you!

I think the 2nd and 3rd fights were completely different showings. No lightning for me.
