Hatton would probably win, But I would be rooting for Gomez

I doubt it by knock out thou.

Gomez is journeyman fighter. I can't see Hatton having problems with him. I can't see Hatton even fighting him.

Yeah, Gomez would be the only one to benefit from this fight if it materialized.

First of all I don't think there's a chance of this happening anytime soon. Gomez needs some more fights. It's really tough to gage him against Gatti who was blocking Gomez's rights with his head.

Just because Gomez beat a shell of Gatti does not mean that he should be mentioned in the same breath as Hatton. And I have always liked Gomez. But we should not forget that he's the same guy that owns a 0-1-1 record against Jesse Feleciano (tough guy, but not a top tier guy IMO).

This fight would probably never happen anyway. They're at waayyy different spots in there careers. Hatton is at the top. Gomez is tryin to climb the mountain. If Hatton goes to WW it won't be for Gomez.

I disagree i like Gomez but he certainly isn't elite and i don't see how he could give Hatton any problems ?? Collazo was slick fighter and was southpaw fair enough he had trouble with him but Gomez ?? come on we are talking about Gomez here i have never seen anything elite about him and beating a shot to pieces Gatti doesn't make you an elite either Gomez comes straight forward and Hatton would just swarm him and Gomez would be in for the shock of his life plus Gomez has never been in with an elite fighter funny how things change i see people saying not long ago before the Gatti fight that Gomez was a club fighter now all of a sudden he has a chance against someone of Ricky's class ??

i don't think Gomez is that bad a fighter. i don't think he beats hatton but he would put up a good fight. i think gomez needs more fights. gomez is one of those guys that starts his career of slow but will eventully make it to that elite level. gomez is basicly a prospect IMO.

I agree with u. He's a sound, hard nosed fighter. I have always liked how he portrays himself & the fact that he comes to fight.

It was GREAT for his career to get a name like "Gatti" on his resume at this point of his career. But IMO it would be a BAD move to put him in over his head at this point. I would go so far as to call it an injustice to him right now to put him with the elite guys.

He's a tough guy that would take alot of unnecesary punishment if he were to be in too deep. IAnything can happen but it's tough to picture him goin down & out with one shot. If he was mismatched into a stoppage it would probably be from a beating. He deserves a fighting chance. Hopefully his people will keep matching him right. Let him gain some experience. Then when the time comes if everything keeps rolling along, maybe he gets his big shot & has a chance. Just my opinion

I feel the same about a Malignaggi fight to be honest. He's hardly big league is he?

Malignaggi's only loss came from a pound for pound champion who is perhaps the most feared puncher under 160..

And he handled himself quite well against a stronger more experienced guy....

Paul is right where he belongs....Many laugh at me but in a few years Malinaggi will be a top name in this division...

He's not ready for Hatton though. I don't see that as a world class fight at all. He's only just won a world title against a guy who is nowhere near world class in N'Dou. His only big fight was against Cotto, and he took a beating. Hatton is a two weight world champion, and has won numerous titles at lighty-welter as well as ending Tszyu and Castillo. Are you honestly telling me that he's worthy of a shot at Hatton? He hasn't even defended his frigging belt yet, and has done nothing to prove world class status. Don't get me wrong, he's a decent fighter, but he's not ready yet.
