Re: Michael Vick TO PLEAD GUILTY!!!!
Nice to see in a world where people die everyday, innocent people are made victoms of crime etc....that this much effort is put into someone who kills thier own dogs. There are area's in every city where people live in fear of crime and nobody cares, it's so common that most never make the news, but it's nice to know a couple of dogs are now safe due to the hard work and dilligence of our government.

I understand your point and think it is a good one.
Still, Vick killing dogs comes from the same path-of-logic as a random shooting in the streets of a major city. It's purely entertainment and shows a lack of respect for life. A man who makes millions of dollars per year is letting his friends influence him? Vick should be putting these guys through college not funding their dog fighting ring, but they don't want an education, they're "thugs" afterall.
On another note, eating a hamburger is not the same as bashing a dogs head in with a bat and throwing it's body in the woods to rot.
At brith a puppy and a baby are both innocent, infact the dog remains innocent and the adult man becomes a sinner. Still, Puppies and babies have something in common. Both can grow up to be assholes or heroes depending on how they are raised.
Re: Michael Vick TO PLEAD GUILTY!!!!
.....these dogs are domesticated and are at our mercy....they are taught to fight either by neglect or inhumane treatment.
Hunters kill animals like deer and so on but I know of no hunters who kill animals ONLY for fun and they don't enjoy the death of the animal. The hunters I know are respectful of nature and animals and hunt for management of the species and for food.
Hunting/eating meat is not the same as watching anything fight to the death.
Yall have fun with all that, I bet everyone would let Michael Vick watch their kids now that they know what a kind gentle soul he is :thumb:

I've known someone sick enough to torture animals before and that's not all they were capable of. It's just something that they could get away with more easily than their other sick ideas. It wasn't their upbringing either because their other family members were nothing like that. He said himself he knew exactly what he was doing at all times and choose to do it. He did it proudly.
I haven't seen anything on this guy except for what's in this thread so I'm not able to appreciate how much media attention it's been given. I don't see that the issue is do we protect animals OR humans from torture. It'd be great to protect everyone and it really sucks that this doesn't always happen. Whether it's human torture or animal torture it's wrong. Maybe this guy getting locked up will decrease his chances of having kids and torturing them! Pity you don't need proof you're not a psycho before you're allowed to have kids!

Not sure why I don't think the fish feels as much pain. Maybe it does and I'm not sensitive to it because it's not a mammal and i can't tell it's in pain. I was talking about what I could do not what I really think is best to do. I'd find it easier to catch a fish than shoot a mammal if I had to do it myself. When other people are doing the dirty work I buy all kinds of meat though!
I confess it's weird and I did see Finding Nemo and it's a cute movie sorry Bomp!

I agree with you though about certain animals being harder to kill. Mammals, and especially the higher order ones are far more like us than the rest of the animal kingdom. Looking into the eyes of a fish or a snake, you just don't feel the same sense of kin that you do looking into the eyes of say a horse or a dog.
It may be illusionary but I'd imagine it's an almost universal response amongst all societies who arn't intimately involved with farming, hunting etc.
Re: Michael Vick TO PLEAD GUILTY!!!!
In a way I feel like a hipocrit for saying I'd find it hard to do because I grew up in a farming family. Still when it came to controlling number of rabbits (huge problem in Australia) my brothers and their dogs and ferrets did it and not in a way which had them dying slowly. I wasn't ever expected to kill anything - just do other basic animal feeding and upkeep chores.
I don't remember us ever killing our own pigs or cows - for our own food we sent them to the local butcher to kill and prepare them and gave him an animal for his own as payment. Animals which were sold for profit were shipped off alive in trucks to be either sold to other farmers for breeding (or wool in the case of sheep) or to the abattoir where I imagine they have skilled fast and hopefully hygienic workers.

People who engage in this type activity , also run parallel with the snuff queens who are mugging and robbing folks.. another words you round up this lot of thugs , the other crimes in the neighborhood will drop . same douche bags
BG made some very good points.

...that is population control and it has to be done because they would basically eat all the food for the other animals and the RABBITS could bring extinction on some other species.
I'm not vegan or anything, I eat meat, I hunt and fish and it's different when you kill for a purpose as opposed to watching carnage for fun....that is a HUGE difference to me.
I can't believe Stephon Marberry and Roy Jones Jr. are basically crying about what Michael Vick GOT HIMSELF INTO...Yes Vick is a gifted athlete but you know if he breaks the law his athletism doesn't mean anything. And Marberry said people shoot deer for fun.....well MAYBE that happens in some cases but it doesn't involve the prolonged pain and suffering like drowning and electrocution and hanging....WE DON'T EVEN TREAT MURDERERS LIKE THAT!!!
Re: Michael Vick TO PLEAD GUILTY!!!!
My guess is that Roy Jones Jr is upset because he openly admits to fighting gamecocks.
I saw many rooster fights growing up. Many of my uncles and cousins were into it and during the summer they had one or two gatherings a month. When I was a boy I thought it was cool right up until I accidently saw an uncle wring the neck of his chicken that lost. After that I never watched again...
Re: Michael Vick TO PLEAD GUILTY!!!!
...the NAACP has now come forward and asked the NFL to not ban Michael Vick but let him continue playing football after he serves his time as they believe he is more innocent than guilty.
To which I say PLAYING FOOTBALL IS A PRIVELEGE NOT A RIGHT!

People don't want Vick to play. Fine. Don't let him play. Just give him a check for 37 million and let him be on his way. Based on the contract he signed that's the guarantee money owed to him. That simple.
Re: Michael Vick TO PLEAD GUILTY!!!!
Really no clause in there stopping th payout if he's involved in illegal activities? Suprised they didn't put something like that in there - a player could be guilty of a lot of things which should mean he can't continue to represent his club as a big celebrity?!?!
