I agree with you on waiting to see what transpires.....Problem is nothing ever seems to transpire with him...Just as it looks like he is about to make a move towards the division he just fades off....

The promotion problems have been over for quite some time now

Shit man, even Joe Mesi, David Tua and Monte Barrett would be embarrassed in being compared with Audley Harrison.....FFS he's not even a legend in his wife's mind...let alone anywhere else. The only thing Audley ever did was use what talent he had to get a gold medal, then cash in big time.

As for Tua, his comeback would gather pace if he wins another two fights in the next three months, and with the state of the division in the heavyweights, and if his promotional difficulties are behind him, then anything can happen.

I think the frustration that the boxing fan feel towards David Tua is justified no question., however people must understand things are not always what they seem. Most people are not aware of Tua’s managerial / legal battles which he has endured over the last few years. . David had to let some contract work expire before moving forward with his career ( a matter of principle if you will !) . Other personal issues which were a by product of all the stress and worry , also had to be worked out


That’s the past! the future is looking bright. . David now has some good people around him.. Of course Roger Bloodworth his trainer . , a great promoter and adviser in Cedric Cushner , accompanied with great fan support. . I think the fight fan will be pleasantly surprised with Tua as he marches forward .

I am a bit taken aback … Would have thought more boxing fans here at Saddo's would be amped about Tua’s march to a HW Championship. Hopefully they soon will be. O0

hitmandonny here's my beef with David Tua....he says he's retired then he comes back but he only half assed comes back fighting BUMS.

The last contender he fought was HASIM RAHMAN and that was YEARS AGO!!!!

He couldn't do better now than he did in the late 90's and early 2000's....he has peaked and if he fought a top level guy he'd lose.

He has not taken his career seriously since the Rahman fight....maybe he could have won a belt or gotten a huge payday but he doesn't try to achieve anything he just tries to get fights and win.


He's a freakshow, no different than Tyson or Holyfield or Mesi.

He should AT LEAST fight a guy like Shannon Briggs

1) Is ur beef with Tua or me? Dunno why ur directing this specifically toward me...
2) As a boxer myself i think it's unfair and disrespectful to refer to any fighter as a "bum" as i feel it is a very derogatory term to be directed at the guys who are brave enough to entertain us this way.
3) It is a possibility that he is trying to regain confidence lost against lewis, Like pitbull trainers who feed their dog a muzzled opponent or a rabbit first to build its belief.
4)Why fight Briggs? I take it ur a Briggs fan...I take it u dont feel Briggs is a top level guy or worthy of praise...then why should tua fight him?!!!

1.It's understandable to be displeased with a fighter who showed such great potnetial (particularily at heavy,) but the guy doesn't deserve to be called a joke.
2.Again, and i find myself saying this over and over again. I feel the word bum in boxing is incredibly degrading and unfair, what if someone was calling you a bum for trying damn hard at ur job.
3.At 34 i no he's not a kid anymore but the longevity of heavies is far greater than say welters so i wouldn say hes outta time just yet....As for the dog references thats just what i associate with this situation, which i feel may be born out of desperation in the Tua camp.
4) Briggs may actually well fit the bill of the easy win to boost the confidence of tua, whilst also elevating him in the rankings but it's not exactly the most mouth watering prospect now is it?

3) Power punchers don't last....especially the short ones. Foreman, Lewis, and Shavers are the only power punchers that had a long career at heavyweight. Mike Tyson was built for speed and his speed was very important to his power and he got old plain and simple. David Tua wasn't exceptionally fast to begin with so age is not going to do him any favors.

4) Briggs is perfect for him, he's big easy to hit, doesn't fight back, and I'd love to see Shannon knocked the funk out

5) I can understand that but Holyfield was never known for his punching power (oddly enough) and he's also not known for his defense either....I just fear for his safety.

The first thing to go with a fighter is his Psyhcodinamics then his fitness limiting the ability to think under stress. David Tua has lost niether, rumour has it hes on top of his game. Find out how many good managers fancy the job of putting there fighter in with him bet its not a long list.

...A rematch vs John Ruiz would be good too

I think Tua is just fighting from memory. His best days were 8-9 years ago and he is just hoping for one more title shot against anyone who can get him a payday, probably to pay off his lawyer bills from those lawsuits involving his promoters and managers that sidelined him these last couple of years.
