he strugled yes and got old that night
but the record book reads Lennox Lewis TKO6 Vitali Klitschko (might have been 7, can't remember)
And he had just started to make inroads in that fight - lets face it Vitali's face was cut to S***.
Exactly a prime Vitali Klitschko couldn't beat a 38 year old Lennox so would never beat him prime for prime.
Vitali lost cos of cut's and Lewis' punches caused the cuts. Lennox would have stopped Vitali in the 7th if it had gone on.
So I take it that you and Mark TKO are always satisfied with the outcome when a fight is stopped early on cuts and the scorecards show the other fighter winning at the time of stoppage. No need for a rematch? Personally, I don't think so.
I have to agree with Ibeabuchi doing some major damage in the HW division. I was watching USA's Tuesday Night Fights (no longer on tv) when he destroyed one of my favorite fighters, Chris Byrd.

Lennox realised he wasn't as good as he once was and did the sensible thing and retired- and all credit to him or would you like him to be like Muhammad Ali and keep fighting way past his best and getting seriously injured?
Lennox won the fight it's as simple as that, if Vitali couldn't KO an oldman then that's his fault.

I\'m wouldn\'t be satisfied. But Lewis-Klitschko was different. It had to be stopped, before Vitali eye fell out
Re: Would LEWIS come out of retirment to box Bowe
Ali quit when he was 39 yrs old and had 56 fights. The competition in many peoples opinion (not mine) was better at that time so it stands to reason that he retired. Lennox on the other hand quit at 38 yrs old and had only 41 fights. The competition at that time and since then, hasn't been as good (again not my opinion) with the exception of two very good fighters, the Klitschkos. Lennox's last fight left many people believing he was well on his way to a loss before the cut and in order to prove himself, needed to fight the rematch.
Instead, he quit/retired in fear of a rematch due to the fact he would actually have to train hard in order to win decisively. He realized that Vitali was much more game than imagined and his brother was a better boxer than Lewis and would most probably win because of his heart and determination even though he just got tko'd by Sanders.
Hey Rotten, I couldn't agree with you more that it was a good stoppage. That was one of the ugliest cuts I've ever seen in a fight.
Re: Would LEWIS come out of retirment to box Bowe
I hate when people say "if the fight had been allowed to continue......" blah blah blah. Rules are rules. That is like saying if they didn't have to use gloves Calzaghe would have lost to Bika. You have a rule that says if a cut is very substantial that the fight is stopped. The cut was substantial. check.
You also have another rule that says after 4 rounds you go to the score cards. Check.
Lewis won the fight within the rules of boxing without any foul play. That is more than I can say about alot of fights.
Lewis, having won a fight fairly and legitimately, saw that he was past his prime AND had really nothing else to prove esp. when in context of the current heavywieght situation at the time. (And currently for that matter). He did the only rational and approriate thing. For doing that, he will be considered with much higher admiration in the future for his timely departure.

Slow down Booze, If you'd read what I'd written, I don't think for a second that the fight should have continued nor did I ever imply that Lennox cheated. As far as his retiring, I and a lot of people's opinion will always be that he left prematurely.
If you weren't necessarily replying to me, then by all means please accept my apology.
Re: Would LEWIS come out of retirment to box Bowe
No I knew you said that it was an approriate stoppage. I was just commenting on foreseeable comments before they came.
I think we are agreeing on everything with the exception of Wladdy beating Lewis (at least within a year or so of Lewis's retirement). CC. slk123
Re: Would LEWIS come out of retirment to box Bowe
CC'd you back cause I know we usually agree on things and I didn't want to hit a crossroads with a well known wordsmith such as yourself. Heard from Terry lately? ;D

Terry can go take a hike. When Violent Demise coming back?
Re: Would LEWIS come out of retirment to box Bowe
No I haven't heard from terry. I honestly think that he is a loyal Hatton forum poster and just comes on here occassionally when it is down, considering he has so few posts in such a span of time. I enjoy Hatton's work myself so I'm not saying anything ill in that regard.
While I did enjoy the heated argument with all its verbs and nouns we didn't accomplish anything but getting VD banned. I think Terry is such a know-it-all that even if someone who really knew boxing (which I don't) brought up a truly valid point or argument in some unique light that Terry hadn't thought of that he wouldn't really consider it.......which is his loss.
Re: Would LEWIS come out of retirment to box Bowe
Saddo said a week from whenever the incident took place. I hope someone lets him do the prediction contest?? I know I missed a week and it killed me.

Love to be on the outside of heated arguments looking in rather than the other way around. I'd be interested to see the next time TN and VD come together. I'd also like to think that TN is a reasonable man considering the way he writes but I haven't seen enough of his posts to see if he has accepted someone elses view.

I missed about 4 weeks so I\\\'m not even a factor. Violent\\\'s still in pretty good standing. I think I\\\'ll email him and see if I can his picks. Than I can post them for him when I post mine. If it\\\'s allowed that is.

Terry\\\'s a fraud. The posts where he uses big words are pretty much copied from a poster over at Cyber Boxing. All Terry did was tweaked it a little. Which is probably why he doesn\\\'t post as much. He doesn\\\'t have much to say. I think Violent Demise blows him out in any boxing debate. Violent\\\'s posts shows he knows his boxing. Terry hasn\\\'t proven that. In my opinion that is
Re: Would LEWIS come out of retirment to box Bowe
I did not know of a cyber boxing forum?? If they have very many TN's then I am glad I don't. By the way do you all think I could ask Saddo to ban me whenever school starts if I am unable to control myself and focus on my studies?
